Crazy and harsh things that people say on here are really just a reflection on where they are in their life. It kind of reminds me of dealing with grade school bullies,,,some of them grow up and regret their actions, and some of them never grow up at all. They just grow into old bitter people. Don't take it to heart. It is really all about them and not about you at all. Keep up the great work, I enjoy you and your work.

The way you commented about the women who critiqued your art reminds me a lot of my dad. He loves realism but dislikes abstract expressionism. I learned to ignore comments and even warn my family members just to stare at my art (No criticism. Thank you!) Thank you for sharing your video. I was able to relate to it.

You should tell her about the Mona Lisa - it is painted on wood - not canvas. Does that mean that DaVinci was not using the best items that he could find? I think if your art is from your heart - you can put it on anything - and it will be beautiful!! Hint to teacher: It is not the canvas that makes the art - it is the art that makes the canvas! ALSO - those that can't do it and have no real talent - they teach!!
this painting is really cool, I can't get the word on where looking at is tking me, but it's definately amsterdam. I think it was Joyce who said that piece art is an independent being (kokonaisuus:unity?). That art is always viewable and present. In finnish the thought made a lot more sense even made dadaism seem even cooler
In my second year painting class my professor complained about my painting so much everyone in the class felt very uncomfortable. When students tried to say good stuff he would say I disagree lol It was very alkward. I think that even when people have consturctive criticism people should consider how they say it - because it can be really discouraging. I felt I wasn't good enough and was really scared to show another painting after that!
Chin up! You know I've met couple of teachers that believe if somebody was "good" they had to push him/her down in order for the student to push him/herself harder and have more discipline and blah, blah,blah. Maybe your teacher was like this!!!!

i dont understand the whole "too cheap" thing. surely the cost of materials has no effect on the final peice. i hav paintings on 99p canvas, that look great!!
your paintings are fine allthough, and I mean this as totally constructive criticism, you could use for some better lighting in order to bring out the color of the paintings. If the color is dark then use brighter lights if the color is really bright then turn down the brightness slightly so that way the color isnt too pronounced.

In my world there are no laws in art-art is art-enjoy it and have fun with it-I use to paint on cavas that i picked up at Goodwill for $5-and from painting on them I developed a thick new style-do what you want and screw all the negative people-you're beautifully inspiring.
Your funny and insightful. And I love your paintings. Yes, there is a big difference between the student and professional paints and brushes. The student grades are cheaper because they aren't meant to last and they thin the paints out with fillers. So, your colors won't be as vibrant and will mix down to grays/browns faster. Some paints like alkyds dry really fast but also fade and degrade fast too.
umm i think the "turtle neck lady" might of been suggesting that your craftsmenship might look better if you use higher quality brushes. BUT!!! comparing mine to seniors i can tell you that its all about the patients and with old nasty brushes you can still get, if not better, craftsmenship/quality than those expensive ones (but you need to be more delicate).

I think its awesome that you can paint something with bold definate lines and make a beauiful simple piece of artwork and at the same time you can be completely abstract in another piece. I cant get any of my simpler drawings to look good at all.
And I completely understand what you mean about not wanting to give advice that might affect someones life in the wrong way. because im in the middle of trying to make a decision about what to pursue now and understand how hard it can be.
Well you did what that person wanted you to do, and that was to give them attention. But you made a beautiful painting out of it! great message behind it too.
Criticism is a funny thing. The way I have learned to look at it is not so much a good or bad thing but more about the emotions and feelings that your work brings out in someone. If you get no response from your work its worse than what could be good or bad. I enjoy your channel, it makes me smile.

I like your paintings, they are really eye grabbers. As far as the negative comments, they are just sad little people living sad lives and want everyone else to be a sad as they are, 35 year old virgins living in their parents basement, drinking gobs of booze and feeling sorry for themselves. Pay no attention to them at all. Just remember the source they are coming from. I'd love one of your paintings hanging over my fireplace but alas I'm not able to invest in you :-( Keep up the good work.
never let the words of one person be a prison to you. If you sulk over their scrutiny for too long then what they were aiming for was accomplished. Also everyone is different so you will never be able to please everyone who sees your work. Let what they say guide you though, whether it be constructive or destructive. I've always had a liking more for a drawing media but the paintings you do with the thick black lines in between colors is very nice as it makes the real colors much more vivid.

I am a research scientist, I work in virology, and I see the value of creativity in the discovery process. Your creativity is just amazing, because you combine many skills to make something so unique and useful, your painting. From video editing, to your charisma and organization of ideas/stories, to how you start and finish your paintings, not to mention the interpretation behind each painting, it is all fascinating and just beautiful. I like your paintings, they are really eye grabbers. As far as the negative comments, they are just sad little people living sad lives and want everyone else to be a sad as they are, 35 year old virgins living in their parents basement, drinking gobs of booze and feeling sorry for themselves. Pay no attention to them at all. Just remember the source they are coming from. I'd love one of your paintings hanging over my fireplace but alas I'm not able to invest in you :-( Keep up the good work.

never let the words of one person be a prison to you. If you sulk over their scrutiny for too long then what they were aiming for was accomplished. Also everyone is different so you will never be able to please everyone who sees your work. Let what they say guide you though, whether it be constructive or destructive. I've always had a liking more for a drawing media but the paintings you do with the thick black lines in between colors is very nice as it makes the real colors much more vivid.

It is clear to me that anyone who puts you down too harshly is either jealous or does not eat their cookies. Forgetting to eat your cookies can put you in a very bad mood. We love you Val!

one thing because you are hated by other people is that you are removing their comments, even if they doesn't contain nothing bad, just you don't like it and you remove it, it's your right, but that is piss people off .

I don't believe on spending the money you don't have that's why some years ago I cancelled every credit card, (beside down here credit is really expensive, rollercoaster interest rates) I really hope there's an option for me to get this painting that I really liked. Val, I disagree with your harsh words towards the turtle-neck. U just live in different worlds & each of u is right from your respective POV. She's sophisticated, a bit swallow & 1 of the most sexy women on earth. U r natural, sensitive, deep, talented, pretty, good at making voices & very quick eating cakes & sweets. This is off topic, however, I have never loved the gap in my two front teeth until I saw the small gap in yours. Its very cute, I appreciate mine more now.
Secondly, I was an art major. Your work makes me a little sad I changed!! Good job, your work is great!

Hey Valsartdiary, I like the painting, very brave of you to show us your work. Nice neat colours, but if you feel up to a challenge, try painting something using only shades of grey. Your bubbly personality comes across in the vibrant colours you use, just wonder how your art would look using only grey scale. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to your next vid.
