I distinctly remember watching part of the TV special when it aired in 1977. My parents were big Neil fans when I was growing up. My dad had gotten word that they were including this footage with Henry Winkler, so he made sure to call my sister and me in to watch this part so that we could see Fonzie singing. 34 years later and I'm still a Neil fan.
Wow! All those flares and side-burns! Brings back memories! Growing up Diamond-mad in India, I managed to get my hands on the "Love at the Greek" cassette when it was extremely difficult because of government restrictions. I knew who Helen Reddy was but didn't have a clue as to who Henry Winkler was and the whole "Fonz" thing didn't make sense until I emigrated to the U.S. and watched "Happy Days" re-runs in the '80s. Thanks for posting!
My brother and I bought this album for our Mother's birthday around 1977/78 from Woolworths, it cost us £8.00, a huge sum then. The Helen Reddy song 'Angie baby' was always one of my favourites as a child, freaking me out somewhat as I didn't understand metaphor at the tender age of 7, anyway this is the first time I have ever seen this on screen.
Took my mother to see N. D. last year in Birmingham, and we really enjoyed every minute of it (my wife insists that must mean I'm secretly gay) ha!
I also watched the show on Dutch TV in the 70's. Still being in my pre-teen years. Bought the record Love at the Greek in the early eighties and the CD in the 90's. So you could say this record stayed with me throughout the better part of my life so far.
I have not seen any footage since the 70's and never tought I would ever see these pictures again. But thanks to youtube and it's contributors I found a piece back from my childhood. Thanks missjudi1 "wherever you are".
Thanks for posting this. I haven't seen this tv special since it originally aired in the late 70's. Love At The Greek is one of my favorite albums and every version of his songs on this album was awesome. But I missed having a picture to go with the voices. Thanks for helping us remember. Kudos.
I wish i could have the whole video in disc, my vhs tape is now soooo worn out

Why for the love of God did they not include this whole song the cd of Love at the Greek? Why exclude Cherry, Cherry I am I said, Cracklin Rosie?

I think I saw the Captain and Tennille in the audience?? Classic video. Neil is still fun; not this fun but darn close.

Is Neil Diamond "high" on something???
teeger66 3 years ago
Yes he is,.... 'LIFE', this man is one of the true greats a real entertainer.
I am a massive fan of this man, he is a legendary performer,....the music of today is shallow, repetive, & boring as compared to this man.
