@ummah08 do you think i like what i did downthere? as a law in denmark i had to join the army at age 18, was forced to go to iraq, i had to carry out my orders, i killed people and sor my freinds die, i sat whit my freind in my fucking arms while he died, he begged me to save him but i couldent do enything... i dont blame them for killing my freinds, they did as they where ordered, and so did i, yes, i feel guilt everyday, and i cant fight it, and i never will be able to do so
@gunnerthedenmark I know how hard it is to be in your position. Pray and offer to God whatever it is that your are feeling and you will find peace. God bless.
@gunnerthedenmark you have broke a soilders moral of telling which makes me think your lieing??????????????, a soilder never tells from a para, explain?
I think that Cleo Laine's version is far and away the best of the lot. Unfortunately, it's not on YouTube. The original title of this song was to be "Streets of Paris."
@1978jabbo According to Dame Cleo, who was told this by the person who wrote the song, he wrote it in Paris, and was going to call it, originally, "Streets of Paris," but changed his mind, and named it "Streets of London." I don't make things up, and I know whereof I speak, unlike you.
@theoriginalbadbob The "person" who wrote it was Ralph Mctell. Mctell spent his early years travelling europe busking for money. A lot of this time was spent in Paris and London, and the song talks about the things he saw whilst in these two great cities. The song was always going to be called streets of London because it just flows so much better than the streets of Paris. You may not make things up but get all your facts correct before posting and being rude.
@1978jabbo In the booklet that is included with the 2-CD album "The Very Best Of Cleo Laine," Ms. Laine states that the song was to originally be titled "Streets of Paris." I would tend to take her word for this. I wasn't being rude, I was merely stating a fact. If you think THAT was rude, you've never seen rude.
At a Wimpy Bar on Buckingham Palace Road many years ago a man sat pouring ketchup in his hand and adding salt and ate... that was the "Streets of London" in real life.. and the that will remain with me forever...
@winterbound123 i agree, i have been fighting in iraq and lost my two best freinds there, this song is one of the few songs that makes me relax and forget about the pain
@gunnerthedenmark We have draft military service in Denmark. It's completely volountary if you go abroad to fight in our wars. No one have forced you. Stop the BS.
I've been in the danish army for 10 years, and been out there.
"Streets of London" is a good song. Seen from a musical point of view, the song do have much in commond with the song "Rain and tears" from the Greek group Aphrodite's Child.

That would be because like a lot of modern songs they use the D,A,B,F#m, G,D,G,A chord progression used by Pachebel in his Canaon in D Major
