6:44 omg! the french horn's part is awesome in that part, i remember playing this :D i think we played it alittle better but you guys just astonishing
First of all, the whole peice was at least 20 beats under tempo, articulaiton wasn't great; very muddy. This is what you'd expect from a Juinor High, but good job on the slow middle section except for the tamberine player...
We played this as the 3rd band in college and we took this tempo. Bassoons couldn't get the rhythms in 1:45. Sounds muddy probably because of the acoustics of whatever building they played in.
I say they did very well. Very nice sounds coming from a junior high band.
Good overall, but the sax was rushing...this is my solo this year, and he played it pretty well, but REALLY rushed. The whole piece was very "rushy". Just a bit of critiquing. Very good job, overall, though!
It most spots I couldn't hear the moving parts, and in some places you rushed. The balance wasn't too good, I had trouble hearing the piccolo part. Some parts were muddy sounding, but overall it was pretty good. My band is playing this right now. I'm play the piccolo for the piece. It's very fun.
Wow, really impressive for junior high kids. I'm playing this with a community band, and I love the piece. We played "Winter Dances" (also by Brian Balmages) last semester and that was awesome too.
We played this for UCO's Libertyfest volunteer band. Practiced it every monday for four weeks. You guys did a fantastic job! Its a very complicated piece obviously for the woodwinds, but you guys pulled it off tremendously. I did hear a trumpet crack, but they recovered well. :) All in all you guys did wonderful!
Great job! Lots of mature sounds in this band. We played this in concert band in college and it was awful. The concert band is the bottom band at the college i went to. It was mostly of people who just wanted to keep their scholarship.

We're playing this right now in my high school band, and while I'll say that this is a little slow, it's really good for middle school.

We're actaully playing that in our symphonic band right now for our UIL competition.
You guys did quite excellent, especially since this piece can be hardt o master. Nice woodwind and brass sound. Good sax solo.
Did you use an saprano sax?
