Look i was nokia fan for life but after buying the n97 that was the most stupid thing i ever did in my life paying 740 euros for such a shit , i work for nokia samsung htc lg sony and i know what am talking about , all the new devices already tested it , i repair cell phones authorized to do this , and i can say iphone 4 beat them all , accept for the bluetooth and you are right with the battery , but dont forgot the display needs more power than the one on n8 and the games are installed

According to nintendo, touch screen and 3D screen don't mix, of course Nokia might have the technology to get to work but somehow my bet would probably be nintendo has spend more $ on R&D of touch screen capable of 3D than nokia so I doubt the game on touch screen phone will be "3D" 3D.

These games should had tried to rotate the rendering with the tilt of the phone. I assume much of the tilt lag people notice when switching between 90 degree modes is because the phone don't know if you want to switch or not before tilted atleast 45 degrees, so maybe it wouldn't be as "jelly like" is that would make you think.
Kinda hard to see if the whole rendering tilt with the phone ..
Same goes with X360 3D games. Turn around and well, you don't see the screen? =P, great idea! ;D
iphone4 wins I was going to buy a nokia n8 but not know changed my mind. 12 megapixels 3d gaming looks so dull on a nokia N8 the iphone4 only has 5 mpg and the 3d games look better.
the problem with conventional games like this ported to phones without hard keys is that by the end of a lap you end up puking from all the dizziness.
I am not impressed, iPhone 4, even the 3gs will have Project Sword (aka Epic Citadel) and Rage, both with better graphics and smoother gameplay than this.
@RibReaper The Symbian^3 phones isn't iPhone and Android competitors, the MeeGo phones will be. I assume Symbian^3 is the European equivalent of Blackberrys in the US. More suitable for business / battery life / low-end hardware / ...
i cant help wonder what going on over at nokia, the n8 hardware is really great but yet again the slapped this horrible os on the phone. meego or better yet android was the way forward its like buying a porsche with skoda interior. and the most annoying thing is developers had asked nokia for something new Really New! not symbian, most of the devs i work with (im in mobile coms) dont like working on symbian, im a fan of the n900,n86,e71 etc but symbian just aint upto it at all the ui terrible
@rdt1970 Wouldn't you use QT on both the Symbian^3 and MeeGo phones? I don't know about older Symbian phones though. But yeah, they need Maemo or MeeGo and things move slow. Time will tell if they got something to show in mid November.

it also gives Ps2 experience on big screen tv. Mobile have 3D accleration card where iphone only have open GL and flash only. So, nokia can do much more with flash and java.
But nokia dont use these 3d graphics yet bcuz of compatibality with Non 3D chip mobiles like N96 , N97.
@sithu04 N8 comes with stereo speakers with 5.0 surround sound. By default its off by Nokia in Many phones like N95, It have 2.0 stereo. And you have to turn it ON from Options of Media Player when playing Audio. Then you will get that sound im talking about.
And about web browsing, N8 have flash support on it. and bluetooth mouse + bluetooth keyboard + HDMI TV out. Means you have a full Internet experience on Big screen TV while enjoying sitting on your Bed :P So, how iphone can do it ?

@sviini no its called meego. Meego is going to be used on the upcoming N9 and more devices will probably be announced at nokia world in 2 weeks.
Meego, based on maemo, is a true linux OS and is much more open than android. You can open terminals etc and really do anything you want with it. Google has much more control on android

@sviini I think both got the same potential. Android got a head-start and support from more manufacturers but Nokia alone sell more phones than all the Android manufacturers together, and I assume they will let others use it to.
Also Android use apps developed and ran in a modified JAVA environment while MeeGo uses QT with C++ (and other languages), and the WeTab tablet running MeeGo also support Android apps so who knows maybe you will be able to run both on future MeeGo phones.
@sviini Regardless of native development environment both Android (I assume) and MeeGo got flash so you will be able to code in Flash + AIR if that's what you prefer to. And then that will run on kinda any device I assume except iPhone and iPad unless they have got Flash now? In any way Apple has allowed creation of iPhone apps through Flash nowadays I think so it will be possible to use that environment regardless.
I think these games would benefit from a steering control based on the _reverse_ of phone tilting. When you want the object to move right, if you rotate the phone to the right as most people would initially, what happens is that the scene gets too distorted. With inverse rotation you keep the object centered, and keep the road "ahead"... It would be much like an airplane elevation control, at first it's strange, but you learn the proper say to use it very quickly, and then it's more natural.
@nwerneck Or just make a small scroll area, finger forward or back to accelerate or break, the more towards the sides the harder the steering.
The game doesn't tilt the screen at all so I doubt your solution would work. However they could just render the scene WITH tilt so the horizon in the game is always horizontal for the user.
Infact thanx to nokia, that i'm at the age of 15, owning a smart phone(5230), really really nice phone for its price, almost equivalent or sometimes better then iphone 3g.

I have been a loyal nokia user for as long as i had a cellphone, things changed when i bought a iphone 3gs when i droped my n95. My orginally intention was to use iphone to get used to the touch screen N97 had, but when i got my N97 it was such a let down. @alsanten compared to android or apple's appstore, ovi store is still new, and the apps there are just shit, i have to admit that. but we symbian users don't depend on that thing. heck i dont think we even need it. we prefer to have things (apps, games etc) downloaded from symbian forums or other websites or blogs. everything is free. i mean everything. even the most expensive apps can be free, if you go to these forums. oh i love symbian =)

to think reasonably nokia as a phone-only manufacturer, it is a great leap and achievement with the launch of N8. For starters SE always rely on Sony's capability of making good camera's, music players and so on. So does samsung, and LG. Compared with other phone-only manufacturers like Motorola or Apple, well you can never be anymore obvious. N8 is such a good example of how good Nokia has been, with its R&D. Well done Nokia.

people say iphone have more processor and it needs it for stability, as flash needs more memory.
symbian is lightest and fastest ever. no extra animations and un needed gui effects which waste time only.
camera and sound And other multimedia features are always better. also they are hardest mobs.
my old n72 was dropped on road and a jeep ran over it. i thought its gone but i used it with no problem for 5 to 6 months,
every mobile today, copied multi tasking from nokia.

@fremy123 I tested at carphone and tesco and uk. It is mono speaker. Nokia try to be apple now with multitouch, coverflow, mono speaker and non replaceable batt to make device thinner

@sviini no its called meego. Meego is going to be used on the upcoming N9 and more devices will probably be announced at nokia world in 2 weeks.
Meego, based on maemo, is a true linux OS and is much more open than android. You can open terminals etc and really do anything you want with it. Google has much more control on android

@sviini I think both got the same potential. Android got a head-start and support from more manufacturers but Nokia alone sell more phones than all the Android manufacturers together, and I assume they will let others use it to.
Also Android use apps developed and ran in a modified JAVA environment while MeeGo uses QT with C++ (and other languages), and the WeTab tablet running MeeGo also support Android apps so who knows maybe you will be able to run both on future MeeGo phones.

@sviini Regardless of native development environment both Android (I assume) and MeeGo got flash so you will be able to code in Flash + AIR if that's what you prefer to. And then that will run on kinda any device I assume except iPhone and iPad unless they have got Flash now? In any way Apple has allowed creation of iPhone apps through Flash nowadays I think so it will be possible to use that environment regardless.
Anyhow QT > JAVA.
Also Sun was cool, Oracle not so much ... :D

I think these games would benefit from a steering control based on the _reverse_ of phone tilting. When you want the object to move right, if you rotate the phone to the right as most people would initially, what happens is that the scene gets too distorted. With inverse rotation you keep the object centered, and keep the road "ahead"... It would be much like an airplane elevation control, at first it's strange, but you learn the proper say to use it very quickly, and then it's more natural.

@nwerneck Or just make a small scroll area, finger forward or back to accelerate or break, the more towards the sides the harder the steering.
The game doesn't tilt the screen at all so I doubt your solution would work. However they could just render the scene WITH tilt so the horizon in the game is always horizontal for the user.

Yeah, Nokia is huge in India/Asia, but the American teens ask for the most expensive and high-end shit there is. Hopefully Nokia will offer a phone for them to when MeeGo arrives. And hopefully they will still make great and affordable phones for you guys :)
I'm from Sweden and my phone is a Sony-Ericsson z300 ;D. Haven't bothered with smartphones. Give me an open replaceable firmware and no DRM or (eventually) no thanks :D

@PhilOByte What Nokia should had done imho is to license the DS hardware and allow DSware on their phones ;D (and maybe even cartridges.)
Even if they didn't paid for the hardware it would give Nintendo more software sales so why not? ;D
Sony-Ericsson is working on a PSP phone though :(

And back in the days when Apple sucked for gaming (still do ;D) I imagined that maybe they could had done something with Nintendo to solve that.
Though Apple suck, so I'd rather have someone else do it ;D. Whatever it's say Google/Android or Nokia I don't care that much :). But with touchscreens and arms why not? :)

EXACTLY!!!...NOT ... actually...nokia and simbian are off the market. They should spent a LOT of money to get back on their feet and fight apples and googles. They have the potential but they cant make the smart phone that we deserve.Dont get me wrong- Simbian has great features and nokia has great hardware but that is not enough- iPhone was made by hackers and software makers-that is what really NOKIA needs

I have been a loyal nokia user for as long as i had a cellphone, things changed when i bought a iphone 3gs when i droped my n95. My orginally intention was to use iphone to get used to the touch screen N97 had, but when i got my N97 it was such a let down. I am so sick of using the iphone, I hope this is the phone that can get me back to the nokia family

@alsanten compared to android or apple's appstore, ovi store is still new, and the apps there are just shit, i have to admit that. but we symbian users don't depend on that thing. heck i dont think we even need it. we prefer to have things (apps, games etc) downloaded from symbian forums or other websites or blogs. everything is free. i mean everything. even the most expensive apps can be free, if you go to these forums. oh i love symbian =)

nokia n8's amazing 3d gaming capabilities stop me from buying a PSP-3000.
the graphics are comparable on those that you can find on a gaming console thanks to opengl 2.0.
i guess i should start making money to buy this device.

to think reasonably nokia as a phone-only manufacturer, it is a great leap and achievement with the launch of N8. For starters SE always rely on Sony's capability of making good camera's, music players and so on. So does samsung, and LG. Compared with other phone-only manufacturers like Motorola or Apple, well you can never be anymore obvious. N8 is such a good example of how good Nokia has been, with its R&D. Well done Nokia.
