  • A masterpiece! Classic television of the best kind!

Fritz Weaver is absolutely brillant! I just adore him! I love his perfomance in "Third from the sun" as well.

  • In some of these episodes of the twilight zone, somehow, i think someone has seen the future. Our future, Steve Jobs could have very well been the "1984" president, or dictator. To me, he seemed to have the attitude. But the future did not turn out hitler like, or dictatorial. But it got close. ttyl

  • The character is named "Romney". Seems fitting somehow...

  • Ron Paul 2012.

  • Bloody hell, does EVERYTHING have to turn into a conservative vs. liberal fight? Can't we just enjoy this piece of brilliant television courtesy of Mr. Serling?

  • Exceptionally revolutionary for its time.

  • This is "America" is 5-10 years (if that)!

  • I find Barack Obama....OBSOLETE!

  • @ ancbcc I quite agree, this oddly enough is relatively close to Obama's new health plan. The old and in-firmed are a burden on 'the state' and are 'liquidated'.

  • @penguin19891703 - What a twisted view of the world you have, Obama's health plan was to ensure everyone was entitled to free healthcare. In other words to ensure everyone lived a long and healthy life irrespective of how poor they were, which is the exact opposite of this story.

Allowing people who have no monetary value to die is kind of like where America is at the minute, extreme capitailism with little to no social conscience.

  • @boing615 Where does healthcare come from? The time and energy of another person; so "free healthcare" means a person is getting the benefit of that time and effort with no reward for the person providing it and no right to deny it. Furthermore, dear leader's actions did nothing but increase demand for healthcare; it did nothing for supply, which means healthcare is only going to become even more expensive and hard to obtain than before.

  • @sonrouge Is generosity such a bad thing? Any advanced, civilised society should be fair, compassionate and generous. The alternative is no support for the less well off, which either means them dying in the streets of hunger or, more likely, a massive increase in crime as they turn to theft to survive. If you menetarise everything then you make money the most important thing and i think we all know that's not the case.

  • @boing615 Generosity that is voluntary, no; genorisity that is forced, yes. Fair, compassionate, and generous, by what standard? To whom?

  • @boing615 It is you who has the twisted view, meandering along not reading between the lines. Obama's stay in office has driven us deeper and deeper in debt to countrues that are our enemies. The only thing that I agred with him about during his campaign was to bring our troops home and he didn't do it. So continue to believe in this ill conceived idea of healthcare for all, but when the government has seized your assets & given them to the "less fortunate" you'll be sorry

  • @creekstar7 Yes he is

  • Obama's America...

  • @ancbcc Yes, mandatory murder of the unemployed is exactly the same as free healthcare for the poor....

  • Favorite episode, but I wonder... Is Wordsworth the say guy who played the glasses guy in "Time Enough At Last"?

  • This is my favorite episode. Thanks for uploading!

  • "Yes, books. Can you spell that for me? No? B-O-O-K-S. Perhaps if you read more of my B-O-O-K-S, you could spell it. I have one right here about why dictatorship is bad."

-That's what the librarian should have said. If he wanted to die faster.

  • Wait...how can you disprove the existance of a diety? There's no logical argument that could say, 100%, for sure, that there is no kind of god in existance. On the other hand, I admit, it goes the other way around.

  • @chriscason24 no The only Obsolute man in this world is the on who rejects the Flying Spaghetti Monster! or wait was it the flying tea pot or one of the other a few hundred thousand gods we made up...

  • @chriscason24 You are Obsolete.

  • @chriscason24 Whenever you have a ruling class elite and a corporatist base, the masses are nothing more than chattel/serfs/plebs/proletariats to be exploited. Capitalism, fascism, communism, and socialism. Capitalism is just a more perfect form of feudalism through indirect economic coercion of the people, where corporate power grows to usurp the people, and where the elite don't have to risk their safety and resources amid kingdoms fighting amongst each other for land.

  • If, for the sake of this comment, you were an ETERNAL PERSON and you were just told you were OBSOLETE, would it really matter that you were given 60 minutes of 60 days or 60 years left to live? That is what happened to you, according to Genesis.

  • the guy on the mike is clen beck

  • @chriscason24 I think your confused, Socialism is a political theory that seeks reduce the power of government, in some cases eliminate government all together. No power over the people, the people are the power!

  • @chriscason24 Are you saying there is a parallel between Fascism and Socialism? You clearly need to educate yourself before commenting.

  • This sounds like a discription of America :)

  • @cultofmao I hope you're being sarcastic. America at least tries (fails often) to be as far away from this as possible (or sane).

  • @StuffedAnimalPlanet Not at all sarcastic enlightened to the truth about America.

  • So this is were they got the idea from for the film equilibrium ...Dam is nothing original!

  • Whoever titled these obviously has ZERO idea of what "commie" means. What's depicted here could easily be a warning against today's neo-con, corporate-worshiping religious "Right".

  • @Onneff69 It isn't nessacarily communism. Of course, being to to far to the right or the left will make a society end up like this.

  • Any ideology, any organization that refuses to recognize the rights, liberties, and beliefs of others, they are the ones who are obsolete. A world without freedom of religion, without freedom of literacy, that's a world I'd rather not live in.

  • Logic is an enemy and truth is a menace.

  • To all who preach that "superiority" of "society" over the individual, this is that view made flesh...and as you can see, not even its most vocal supporters are safe from it.

  • @sonrouge The balance between individual freedom and whats best for society is extremely complex. Almost everything about your life that you enjoy comes from being part of society. Being a part of a bigger group brings massive benefits and we already acknowledge that in our laws, there, quite rightly, are lots of limits on our individual freedoms where they would harm society (drug use, vigilantism, wreckless driving) only when the limits cause more harm than good should you start to worry.

  • @boing615 No, everything I enjoy comes from the benefit of individual freedom, of man's right to live his own life how he pleases, to work for his living and keep the product of his work. And rights are limited by nothing but rights; my rights end where another person's begin.

  • my god even the twlight zone was warning us about the nwo....

  • The other great Twilight Zone is "The Shelter"

  • When hate speech and hate crime laws are enacted we will be on our way to living like this.

  • W: I am a human being!

    C: You're a LIBRARIAN Mr. Wordsworth!

    1960s BURN...

  • This is by far the most intense episode of TZ.

  • Small, little podium.

  • This episode scares the heck out of me because of what can happen in the future! It really could. It's so scary.

  • @lisababy85 It has already happened many times, in many countries, throughout history. And yes, it could happen here.

The one thing that history teaches us - is that history teaches us nothing.

  • @haypenny I hope it doesn't during my time. I love books and I dont want to lose them

  • @haypenny that is soooo scary.

  • in better words,it seems

people never learn, cause the goverment controlled media is busy hyponotyzing our minds with what paris hilton had for breakfast or lunch instead othe fact that our freedom ids bieng taken away, nature destroyed,(look up google maps on satelite mode)advanced technology bieng suppressed, wich could save us,not(victor schauberger, wilhelm riech, perhaps ,tesla too)not to mention telepathy, and the ELF mind control towers bieng erected evrywere, the dumbing down influenceof skool

  • @lisababy85 id say another 5 years it might be like this if we keep going the way were going

  • @lisababy85 It's already happening and has been underway for quite some time.

  • @Jedibron I skimmed through your last few arrogant diatribes and conclude that you are clearly a victim. You are oppressed by everyone who disagrees with you. OK passed a law requiring ultrasound during abortions - gasp! Seriously, you've missed the point of this video and instead made it a forum for your personal hostilities and biases nestled within your own broad victim scenario. You can't debate civilly and you can't even google a statistic. I hold no ill will toward you - go in peace.

  • this is my favourite youtube video so far

  • You are full of shit. You talk about college indoctrination. That is something that doesn't exit. I also find it funny in context of this episode of Twilight Zone since it was Christians who silenced knowledge to begin with. You don't understand the episode. It's not about religion or politics. It's about government control. This can can come from the right just as much as the left.

  • @Jedibron Read my posts again on both parts, and you'll discover that I concur that the theme is tyranny, which can come from any direction and from either secular or religious. And it HAS come from both secular and religious. Communism & Nazism are examples of the Secular oppression of the Religious, and the Spanish Inquisition & Radical Islam are examples of Religious Oppression. And there IS massive bias in education; the fact that you refuse to even entertain the concept is further proof.

  • @haypenny Education bias is different than indoctrination. And Nazis weren't an example of secularism. Hitler was a Christian. Also from the get go the US is a SECULAR NATION. Or it is supposed to be. There are dangers of too much government control but lack of it is equally as bad. The same power on government applies to corporations as well. I also do feel bad for that first sentence to you. So I retract that statement.

  • @Jedibron Hitler was a Christian, huh? Ok...Welp - his mother was a devout catholic - but Hitler himself promoted only worship of the State. He hated Christians almost as much as he hated Jews. He murdered nearly three million Christians, including two of my Aunts. Even in 'Mein Kamf" he ranted about Christians. Early on Hitler used the lingo of Christianity to gain support - he even approved of gays until that no longer suited him either. He later promoted Norse paganism, i.e. the 'Aryan'.

  • @Jedibron Secondly, Yes we do have a secular government. One that allows the free practice of any religion or no religion as we choose. That is not that same as a government that outlaws religion, or forces only one religion. And yes, bias, omission, revisionist history, are all part of indoctrination. And corporations do not have the same power. They do not have police powers or the power to make law, or tax it's competitors.

  • @haypenny Sorry been out of the loop. Yet you try to sell that government outlawing religion is bad, which will never happen, yet you have states that prevents atheists from serving office. You have states that push laws that are clearly religious based pushed down our throats. And corporations?? Are that thick? Corporations have tons of influence over politicians. Look up Monsanto and India when you don't have regulations.

  • @Jedibron First Amendment dear, first amendment. I didn't 'sell' it - it is the law. And what States, name them and their corresponding statutes. Push laws down your throats? How many laws do you think people of faith object to that have been pushed down their throats? And does Government need Corporations more than Corporations need Government? If one has the power to ban things, tax things, and police things - than the other is at its mercy. Quid pro quo between the two doesn't change that.

  • @haypenny Hello, I live in Oklahoma. A such state that pushed one of the most aggressive anti-abortion bills ever. This bill doesn't care about if you are underage, victim of rape, or incest. Tell me this law isn't religious based.I am sorry but Christmas shits on the Constitution. I like christmas but is clearly violates church and state. And I am sorry that because of Monsanto and FREE TRADE that Indian farmers are killing themselves.

  • @haypenny I find it funny when people don't know what they are talking about. Guess what the government costs money, schools cost money, cops cost money, firemen cost money, roads and bridges cost money. That is why we pay TAXES. We pay taxes for government services. Clearly you are very ignorant in the dealings of politics and corporations.

  • @haypenny And what laws do you speak of that have been pushed down people of faith. And you ignored that I said that people are prohibited from serving in office do to being atheists. How many states prevent christians from serving office? I am sorry your dogma is dying.

  • @Jedibron One example is abortion. It wasn't passed by popular vote, but through Supreme Court activism. I didn't ignore your proposition about Atheist candidates, I asked you which States & which Statutes. This isn't about 'dying dogma'.This is about freedom. Nearly 75% of this nation alone is Christian so I don't seeing dying quite yet. The sadder truth is, a Christian would more readily defend your right to be an atheist before an atheist would defend a Christian's rights to free practice.

  • @haypenny Honestly, I highly doubt that. One you are fudging the numbers a bit. You have more and more christians doubting the book or downright becoming agnostics. You have less and less people going to church on sundays. The younger generations generally are more likely to be atheistic. And your last statement is just complete BS. I am sorry but that is BS. I could care less would superstition you believe in. Just don't impose it on me.

  • @haypenny I have had people actually threaten me because I admitted I am an atheist. I have lost friends and strained relationships with family members. Also your second sentence shows your complete ignorance. It wasn't the Supreme Court but the Senate that overruled Brad Henry's veto. So basically this is also a front to you being anti big government as the state of Oklahoma passed a law with out feed back of its citizens.

  • @haypenny Tyranny is born not out of religious faith but out of atheism. Just look at the twentieth century and its bloodthirsty atheistical dogmas: communism, nazism, socialism etc. If you will not have God, you must pay your respects to Hitler and Stalin.

  • @stinkymouser Tyranny comes from humans, not God. Humans can and do warp anything for the purpose of gaining power. And religion has been used in this manner too - as in Islam. And what are you talking about - "If you will not have God, you must pay your respects to Hitler and Stalin." I'm a Christian myself dear.

  • dint anyone read the bible,???"we restle not with flesh and blood but with principalities and powders,of spiritual wikedness in high places, the bible repeatedly refrences(i forgot what that ment, dang) and mentions this great conspiracy, this great beast,666,the lost book of enoch explains this in detail,i can see why it was bannedm, wouldnt be the first time, like when the AMERICAN goverment(a i belive it was the fda, couldavvbeen others)burned wilhelm riechs books,or stole victor schaubergers work!

  • @haypenny Hitler was a Catholic.

  • @coreythecreeper No. Hitler's Mother was a Catholic. In fact, he resented her Faith, because her life had been so hard. He considered it a weakness.

  • @haypenny Actually, considered himself to be doing the work of God in eliminating the Jews. It occurs to me now that he probably wasn't Catholic, seeing as how he had them killed (yeah, don't know what I was thinking), but he DEFINITELY wasn't an atheist. In fact, he ASSOCIATED atheism with communism, which he considered to be his enemy.

  • @coreythecreeper Yes, he was not an Atheist. He was Pagan - Norse Mythology. At least in the beginning of his career, he did make reference to God or Providence in his speeches. But we know now that this was sheer politics. He rejected the Judeo-Christian God, but would use Germans' faith to incite hatred against Jews. Hitler can disassociate himself with Communism all he wants, but he merely practiced another form of it; his objection to Stalin was not in philosophy per se, but military might.

  • @haypenny I'm not sure where you're getting this Norse Mythology stuff, I've never heard of Hitler bowing down to Odin. And his religious beliefs were not just political, they were mentioned in Mein Kampf. He specifically referred to Jesus several times. I actually agree with you, in a way, with regards to Hitler and Communism. While, to my knowledge, Hitler did not advocate the abolition of private property, fascism and communism are on the same end of the spectrum of individual vs state.

  • @coreythecreeper Hear of the term 'Aryan'? That's Norse Mythology. He also adored Wagner's depictions of Germanic Mythology to an obsessive degree. Just look it up - it's actually quite bizarre. As I said, while Hitler may have used traditional faith for political ends, he did not murder in the name of Christ, but for the State. He despised Christians. Two of my Christian aunts were killed in Grini. When secularists try to paint Hitler as a Christian nut, it is entirely their own projection.

  • @haypenny 'Aryan' is derived from the Latin word, 'Arianus' referring to Iran. What you're referring to is Hitler's idea that the Nordic People, with their fair hair and skin, are the master race; somehow, the word Aryan got mixed up in there. Nothing "mythological" about it. And looking at an extensive list of excerpts from Mein Kampf, it becomes quite clear that he at least considered himself to be a devout Christian. That he used faith for political means is undeniable. (continued)

  • That he killed Christians in the Holocaust is undeniable. But it also seems to be equally undeniable, that in some twisted way, he did consider himself to be a Christian.

  • @coreythecreeper Not quite honey. He despised Christianity because he saw that it promoted empathy for Jews. And he also felt that it detracted from loyalty to the State and made people weak. It's in Mein Kampf. As I said before, Hitler did use some loaded language of a theist nature in the beginning of his career, and he also spoke highly of his catholic mother. But Hitler was actually very much into the occult & new ageism. He was very superstitious. He also hated smoking and was a vegetarian.

  • @haypenny Rod serling did not despise Christianity.

  • @meeene4 Who said he did?

  • @haypenny FUCK HITLER AND EVERITHYNG ABOUT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @calo3152

Which is probably why I never remember seeing this episode growing up (I watched it on the internet the other day).

It didn’t fit the narrative… that the religious and the individualistic were the anti fascistic / socialist… the narrative today is that those people are the totalitarians… and it is just another lie.

  • @coreythecreeper

Just because a statist calls himself a communist doesn't mean that communists are statists.

  • actually its born of eil people twisting both atheism and religeon to thier whims, its called a xanatos gambit, cleverly insidiosly manipulating society so that both of thier choices are in your favor, like coke and poesi, republicans and democrats, the usa,and russia, china, heck most of them r the same, working towards thier 'new world order'honestlyyyy, why do u think almost evry country has such similar "legal"(as opposed to lawful) systems, all that congress president military power structure, its ide

  • LOL, Hitler was not a Christian.

  • nobody can be obsolete

  • Any society that refuses to acknowledge individual rights is obsolete.

  • Fritz Weaver's performance as the Chancellor reminds me of Vincent Price in "Class of '99" from Night Gallery; authoritative, menacing, and just plain amazing!

  • @Huthah2 Fritz is always great at playing bad guys. He played Lizzie Borden's creepy father to Elizabeth Montgomery's Lizzie, in 'The Legend of Lizzie Borden' - He was superb! You should check it out.

  • Barack Obommunist pleasures himself to this episode - surely his favorite TV of all time! This is the what is at THE END OF THE ROAD WE ARE TRAVELLING NOW! WAKE UP AND RISE UP, AMERICA!

  • Were the ratings just disabled?

  • Actually no - but Lately YT has been really screwy...?

  • I don't like the religious overtones, but the overall anti-totalitarian, anti-consorship, etc. message rings true to me. 5*

  • @infectingthecrypts Same here mate :)

  • Reminds me of 1984 and Farhrenhiet 451 :P

  • Wonderful episode, my favorite from the Twilight Zone. Since it's heavily influenced by 1984, my favorite novel, I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise. :) Thanks so much for posting.

  • Some professor told my roommate today that it's been ampirically proven that there is no god. That happened today! January 19th, 2010. I just sent my roomie this link, and told him to send it to his professor. :)

  • What you just described happens everyday in American Universities. Professors are moonbat leftists who are constantly trying to force their values down students' throats. And, I understand they're also very oily. :) It won't matter if the Prof. sees this video - if he bothers to view it at all. A drone is a drone.

  • What I refer to happened in Israel. It's the same all across the western world. It's the west's disease.

Granted, many people say that god doesn't exist or that it's foolish to think he does, but I'm amazed by the "ampirical proof" aspect. I don't think there is 100% ampirical proof on either side. If it's been proven, open every newscast in the world with the proof, no matter what the truth is. I care about truth more than I care about theism or atheism.

  • It's like everything else with the left - they just fire off random misinformation to promote their aggressive agenda. I'm not surprised you experienced this in Israel, wherever a Nation is free, there are always those who would undermine it. God Bless Israel. A great Doc-Q about this problem on college campuses, is "Indoctrinate U" - it's downright shocking. You can watch it here on YouTube.

  • Yeah, I have a copy of Indoctrinate U, and I watched a part of it. I love the part about the two brothers who were raised by the same parents in the same household but got different treatment by the system due to their skin color.

  • @TomerMMHA

Many ppl say god doesnt exist

    bull

many ppl say the very opposite

    Without ANY prooroorooFFFFff

would u take sth for an ice cream even it doesn t look like one?

  • there isn't empirical evidence for a god or gods, just like there isn't empirical evidence for fairies, goblins, unicorns, vampires or midgets. (that last one was a joke by the way.) i'm sure that's what the professor was trying to say, otherwise he is an idiot. just because you can't disprove something doesn't mean it exists.

  • Burgess Meredith! Sweet. Wow, Rod Serling was way ahead of his time indeed.
