@Tjune84 You totally missed the point of the movie - Rita had by far the most talent, and the least support from her family. Her mother did not realize how much music meant to her, she should never had forced Rita to quit the choir. The group needed her strong vocals, of course she would have gotten the solo, and they single-handedly saved the school from closing. Her mother was wrong, and she admitted by saying she was proud of Rita and what the kids had done. THAT'S good morals.

What made this part so epic to me was not just the singing but the choir itself, you see all colors of people coming together to put on a phenomenal performance. It seems like all people are hooked on today is trivial things that have no sentimental value for their future like skin color.
