Thanks for putting this up. Chuck put many strands of cool American music, the wittiest and coolest lyrics EVER, and total mastery of his medium, all together in such a dynamite package, that blew us kids away. And it still does, all these years later. Just three chords and a ton of talent. He wrote and sang his own songs, and his blazing guitar playing came out of nowhere, ready-made. AWESOME is the word. The first time I ever saw this clip was at a movie theatre in, or around 1984, even though this clip dates from 1957. I remember sitting in the theatre with my friend and we were absolutly rivited to our seats! It was not long after this that I went shopping for all the original 1950's Chuck Berry material I could find. A very important part of Chuck's overall sound has to be contributed to his now late, great piano player, Johnny Johnson. A true piano wizard in every sense.

I recall John Lennon on the old Mike DOuglas Show saying something like "If you gave Rock and Roll a name you'd call it Chuck Berry." How right he was. I have no problem calling Elvis "The King" but this is one guy who sure as hell helped build that kingdom!
