Whether you like it or not - Nirvana changed lot of things. Melvins and The Jesus Lizard wouldn't have momentarily made it onto major labels if it weren't for the climate which nevermind set. It sent a lot of stuff overground in the major-label feeding frenzy of the early 90s.

It was pretty gay, yeah, but the notion of a band like Melvins being on Atlantic before Nevermind came out would've been out of the fucking question.
