i can agree with you that a lot of stuff that is similar to this stuff sucks. but white chapel is pretty legit. their breakdowns groove so well and they variate them enough. plus their transitions flow so well.
Actually I agree that 90% of deathcore sucks ass, but some bands really are awesome if you just see through the scene hype around them. Whitechapel for instance actually has some great songs, and they really are brutal live (saw them some time ago). I only like whitechapel and some Suicide silence (which is way more scene btw, but their new album is almost 90% grindcore...), rest sucks mostly imo ;-)
I agree that most deathcore is bad. Well, I can't say it's bad, I just don't like it. Winds of Plague, Whitechapel, and Born of Osiris are the only 3 I can truly enjoy. So pissed I missed Mayhem fest though. Couldn't get a ride =[

I think Kevin Lane is probably one of the best drummers alive. I'm pretty sure he can kick Despised icon and All Shall Perish's drummers. I've seen all three live and they don't come close to Kevin Lane
I enjoy Whitechapel but if you want to hear some seriously skilled deathcore check out Despised Icon or All Shall Perish. Both have SICK SICK drummers. Kevin Lane is a beast but these two are above him I think.

We need to stop labeling bands as ___CORE simply because they have breakdowns in their songs. It's only a small component of the song... Whats next? electronicaCORE? blackCORE? r&bCORE? folkCORE? classicrockCORE?

i can agree with you that a lot of stuff that is similar to this stuff sucks. but white chapel is pretty legit. their breakdowns groove so well and they variate them enough. plus their transitions flow so well.

Actually I agree that 90% of deathcore sucks ass, but some bands really are awesome if you just see through the scene hype around them. Whitechapel for instance actually has some great songs, and they really are brutal live (saw them some time ago). I only like whitechapel and some Suicide silence (which is way more scene btw, but their new album is almost 90% grindcore...), rest sucks mostly imo ;-)

I agree that most deathcore is bad. Well, I can't say it's bad, I just don't like it. Winds of Plague, Whitechapel, and Born of Osiris are the only 3 I can truly enjoy. So pissed I missed Mayhem fest though. Couldn't get a ride =[
But still saw Winds of Plague live and seeing them again August 18th, they kicked ass :P

I think Kevin Lane is probably one of the best drummers alive. I'm pretty sure he can kick Despised icon and All Shall Perish's drummers. I've seen all three live and they don't come close to Kevin Lane

I enjoy Whitechapel but if you want to hear some seriously skilled deathcore check out Despised Icon or All Shall Perish. Both have SICK SICK drummers. Kevin Lane is a beast but these two are above him I think.

I refer to bands as deathcore when they basicly butcher the death metal genre and have no talent WHAT SO EVER and just play music to be "kewl" and for the "br00tal" breakdowns. Ex: Bring me the puberty (oli sykes), Carnishit (Fex) and other joke bands that play music for money.

my problem with this "death core" tag is that it gets frowned upon by "real" metalheads and it doesn't get the attention it deserves from true metal fans (not scene kids). For example, suicide silence probably has the largest Scene fanbase EVER but they make great DEATH METAL music. We need to stop labeling bands as ___CORE simply because they have breakdowns in their songs. It's only a small component of the song... Whats next? electronicaCORE? blackCORE? r&bCORE? folkCORE? classicrockCORE?

why stop labeling bands for what they are? Yes electronicCORE does exist. more like digicore or digigrind. Digital - Hardcore / DigirtalGrindmetal. Fuck the people who dont know about it or care about it. Its what it is man, and no, not just breakdowns make it CORE. But it is the biggest aspect due to non metal breakdowns and hardcore breakdowns. Conforming is the problems, know your music. know the antecessors and prececessors. I bet Whitechapel and Suicide SIlence would agree just the same.

Yes they are a Death metal band with Hardcore influences. most deathcore bands are. And by awknowlading and accepting "scene" as part of this is retarded. No offense man, really. Emmure isnt deathcore. Its just hardcore with some metal influences. BMTH is Deathcore (I personally dont like em) but the ONLY reason they are "scene" is cuz they all have straightened hair and what not. Tis all.
