American men win again in 4x400 relay - from Universal Sports

@karakedimarie Bolt can go through the rounds of 100 and 200 and still contribute to the 4x400m and do well. Bolt does not need to work hard in the 100 or 200. It's everyone else that will need to keep up. Because he is dominate and way ahead of everyone in 100 and 200, it wouldn't take much for him to contribute to 4x400 if he gets the proper training and execute a perfect race. U.S. can put any team together for 4x400. People don't know until that race begins of who will participate.

I watched this when it was televised. It really seemed like "Batman" put us in a really bad position. Even with his 400 experience he took the most direct line to lane 1 from the stagger rather than elongating it and relaxing in the backstretch. Angelo Taylor did well to hold our position, and our anchor did the same. Hopefully the coaches pound it home to elongate that stagger. Our 4x4 teams are better than this.

If Ricado Chambers returns fit for Jamaica and Bolt runs a leg on the 400m relay, it will be a very good race between the Usa & Jamaica in London.

@1107jp I respect your opinion and yes the U.S. is good but don't underestimate Jamaica or any other nation in 4x400m. Bolt can threaten the U.S. if he run for Jamaica. I really don't know what the U.S. has stored for 2012 in 4x400m, but if it's a team similar to Daegu then Jamaica with Bolt do have a chance of winning. I watched the U.S. outdoor championships in the 400m and it wasn't great.

it says something about the usa team in the 4x400 were they can run a sub par race as far as leg times and over time and still come in first the rest of the world has some work to do

Usain Bolt is an awesome athlete but it takes 4 athletes to run a 4x400m. Even if he were to run and goes 43.00 the U.S. has enough quarter-milers that can go sub 44. Jamaica is lacking depth to beat the U.S and that's the only way they will ever beat them

The U.S. better find what they want to do with this event because in 2012 Bolt will run in the 400m and 4x400m. The U.S. can still medal but they will not win the gold if they are against Bolt. I hope they are putting together a strong team.

@phebeharris no disrespect bolt running the 400m he has shown he can run a decent 400m but when you look at the top 10 from last year time he doesnt even ranked amond the top ten so unless he commits to training 400m he wont make that much of an impact he would defeintly help jamicas 4x400m team but him being in the field doesnt shake things up usa and russia bye far have proven they are better against jamicas team in the 4x400 sorry

The comment that the Russian ran the best anchor is absurd. Merritt got boxed in going into the 2nd 200m. He's not going to drop back and go 3 wide on the corner to pass so he had to do that in the final stretch. Even then he had to slow up to let the S. African guy move up a little more to avoid having to slow up even further. Merrit was by far the fastest anchor on that track and when he got clear of traffic he left them all; including the Russian.

Hi MobyDoug - South Africa won bronze in the 4 X 400 relay in 1999 and gold in the 4 X 100 relay at the World Championships in 2001 .

Merritt showed his heart for this gold medal. Saved US team and has shown the world that Merritt is just another level above all the people in this final. Should have won the individual 400 meter too. I will bet on him to win two gold in London, in the 4X400 relay and 400 meter. Too good for anything else.

Merritt is a phenomenal talent, he has been running sub 44's consistently. I just think that this youngster Kirani might be a force to be reckoned with in the future. Kirani did beat him again in Zurich so Daegu was not a fluke.
