Can anyone upload that interview where Ricky Watters said "I HEARD SOME BOOS OUT THERE! I MEAN HOW CAN I GET BOOS? 1200 YARDS WHAT ARE YOU BOOING ABOUT? 1500 YARDS ALL PURPOSE....I'M BALLLIN!" LOL
I grew up watching him as a 49er. What he did in Seattle and Philly I couldn't care less about. He was one of the best pass-catching and tackle-busting backs I've ever seen in my life. I was sold on Watters over a decade ago.
So he gator-armed some high, overthrown ball he would've been knocked unconscious over. "For who for what?" He had a big mouth, that made him good.
Yeah...but if the game was over anyway,he has a point. Why risk getting injured? Would you want your star QB to take a hit in the back late in a game that was already over?
"For who, For what? Philly doesn't forget, as fans we are hard but we are fair! A blue collar town expects a blue collar effort. Better luck on your second ballot, your mouth wrote a check that your ass is now going to have to cash. STFU and maybe some of us will just remember the things you did on the field. A college carrer does not the Hall of Fame make.
That college career was at Notre Dame, though. That means more than the Super Bowl; a key to the city; that cheesy Rocky statue; or even the Hall of Fame. Watters doesn't have anything to prove to anyone, he's already done it all.
If there was a way the Niners could have kept him through FA they would've had at least 6 or 7 Superbowls altogether. -He was REALLY under appreciated after SB XXIX, he was the backbone which really got us to the Superbowl in a time when Deion stole most of the spotlight.
yeah everytime he touched the ball at ND it looked like he was going to make a big play and most times he did
I think he should be a Hall Of Famer but I think I am just bias because I am a ND fan but he is one of the most complete RB's in NFL history but it seems a lot tougher for a RB to get it though
ricky watters was the bomb man. he ws so versatile at ND playing tailback and flanker. on that 88 teeam when they won the national championship he was more of a flanker than a tail back only playing halfback in the wishbone. mark green was actually the starting tailback. this was how good ther were. after that he just got better and better
you cant judge somebody based on what they said on o rof the field. getting into the hall of fame is all about stats. and ricky watters had alot of those. ova 10,450 yards rushing and ova 4,670 yds receiving. he had more total yards than a lot of running backs that are already in the HOF.
he only played 3 years in san fran.he was on inj. res. his rookie year.he balled from '92-'95 for san fran.he hauled ass to philly after he got his superbowl.we settled for the worst back ever in derrick loville.hearst came along but he was hurt for most of that tenure, but he was great when available.charlie played good for us,but he was undersized.frank gore will be the best niners rb ever if he exceeds craigs stats, which wont take long to do.craig only had few 1000 yard seasons.
His Stats show the record against the other runningbacks of the league at his time when he was with the Niners and Philly. But i always thought he was underrated when he was referred to as just a " very good" runningback. He had a good style to gain a lot of yards per carry. Emmit Smith would push through the lines. Watters went around the line.
Rickey Watters was an important asset to the 49ers sucess in the meid 90's and when he went to Philly we were missing that piece till we picked up Garrison Hearst.
Was a great back since his rookie season, but unfortunetly wasn't given the ball enough in S.Fran.. This guy could have had a thousand yards every year if used as a rusher more.
One of the most underrated running backs ever. Averaged over 100 total yards a game over an entire career - achieving 7 straight seasons of 1500 total yards. How many running backs can say that? Not more than a handful.
This guy was pure electricity with the football in his hands. As far as talent and statistics, he is worthy of an HOF jacket. He will always be under-rated when compared with the greats, and thats a shame because he is one of the greatest backs in NFL history. RAGING WATTERS!!!
for who ?for what? he was one of the best ever that statement and attiude is the reason why he isnt he isnt .......typical N.FL aka NO FUN LEAGUE

He was great but that quote in the Tampa Bay game when he was in Philadelphia when he said "For who for what?" will come back to haunt him.

I used to love him. I remember how excited I was to get his Eagles jersey in 7th grade. Ricky has never gotten his due.

He use to tear my redskins apart back in the day. Huge under rated running back. Nobody seems to remember this guy anymore and it's not fair.

@JBSchmoov Isn't it ironic how the niners get rid of Watters and they've been god awful ever since.

Maroney is similar to both Ricky Watters and Roger Craig.

laurence maroney will be the next watters
homes07596 4 years ago
Maroney does not have the fluidity of Watters. Watters caught the ball out of the backfield, returned punts and kickoffs.
