  • Wow, mexican holster

Just like Bobby De Niro had in Taxi driver

  • Wonderful video. Couple of questions though. I live in CO and hike the Rockies, in bear and mountain lion country. In your opinion, for protection purposes only, would you carry a .44 or .454? Secondly and I apologize if you've already done a video on this, but have you or will you review Ruger's Alaskan .44 or .454. Thanks so much.

  • The thumbnail is hilarious

  • That is an exceptional & beautiful gun. I love your history behind it. One could clearly feel that you are still in love after all those years. Thank you very much for sharing.

  • its good to see a guy shooting his guns who really KNOWS his guns. too many of these dumb back-ass rednecks showing off their "toys" on here who couldn't be trusted to pass the 3rd grade. pretty scary to think they handle guns. like alcohol, guns are fun if you treat them responsibly.

  • I have a blue steel 29-2 4 inch, just wished I could shoot it as well as him, very very impressiive!!

  • i just got a model 19-3 with a six inch barrel and want a shoulder holster like the one you were wearing. do you know where i could get one and for how mutch.

  • this guy is like the fpsrussia of handguns.

  • @Infernostar18 except that fpsrussia is a character...his real names kyle and he doesn't have a accent.

  • no hat?? what is this madness??

  • Chess tie? If you play chess you should do a video on it! Great video as usual!

  • I think this is the only video where you're not wearing a hat.

  • hell yea!

  • That looks like sooooooo much fun to shoot. Taking my k frames out for some .357 fun tomorrow

  • Well do ya punk?

  • Wow, older hicok vid

  • "Oh my... Thats a big one"

  • Loved the video. I shoot the Model 29's little brother, the Model 57 .41 Magnum. Great weapons.

  • @BucOfive

Nice! I have a 6 inch model 57 as well. You don't come across them very often.

  • @crchrdsn Yes they are hard to find, mine is first run with no dash. 8 3/8 bbl 20% less bang than the 29 but will they notice....NOPE! lol

  • I love it! Really good video and the old picture is great! THANKS for the Informations!! Go on and best wishes from Bavaria/ germany!!

    GOOD STUFF!

  • I love the sound of the shells falling on to the ground...

  • Just purchased a Model 29-2 4 inch. It was very hard to find one in nice shape.

  • Im sorry for possibly sounding dumb, but when hickok45 said the movies were made about him, i believed it.

  • Clints got nothing on you! Thanks for the vids hickok

  • I shot a 44. last week that gun is a cannon

  • I could listen to older guys tell stories about the old days all day. I've heard my father-in-law tell the same Vietnam stories 20 times and they've never gotten old.

  • @hickok45

Could you do a review on a saiga semi auto shotgun? I'm looking to get one really soon and need your advice haha! Also is there a S&W model 29 with a 2 1/8" barrel?

  • Hey Hickok, I think now I know why they call you Dirty.......Unique powder hahahahaha. Love that stuff.

  • "im not sure who the thin guy holding it is..." XD

  • Funny... your shooting position didn't change in all those years ! Guess you got the right one !

  • I'd prefer to watch Clint. At the start you didn't know when you were "out" and should have reloaded. Click. ooops.

  • A true icon of a handgun. Just bought a 29-10 for myself. Great videos sir, keep at it!

  • how are you not deaf?

  • @DEVOTED2NATURE, Huh?

  • @hickok45 Hah!

  • @hickok45 Haha, I think he said that cuz he saw that you didn't wear an earplug, on the first few shots. But, if I look carefully I can see that you are wearing them, just not easily visible. : )

This is definitely one of my favorite videos of Hickok45!!

  • @hickok45 lol'd

  • @DEVOTED2NATURE 0:46 is just the first of many very clear shots of his pink ear plugs.

BTW, great vid Mr. Hickok45, I've been digging back and finding some good ones.

  • @SchultzLD really, they are kind of hard to see.?./>?>,

  • @DEVOTED2NATURE

    Pause at 00:26-00:27

    He's wearing ear plugs.

  • @DEVOTED2NATURE Its hard to see, but he has little foam earplugs in.

  • @hickok45, I have a Model 29-2 just like yours mine came with a wooden gunbox. I bought mine at a gunshow and talked the gun dealer down to selling me this gun for $325. I bought mine in the late 90's. I will be making a video of my 44 mag. in the very near future. Take Care!

  • @Hickok45 How many guns do you have?

  • @olerma619 hes not gonna answer that question lol

  • u made dis video wen i was born

  • Black Talon rounds came under fire for a while because of how the expand, correct? I remember reading somewhere that the anti-gun folks were trying to have them ruled illegal.

  • @nblax41

no its not how they expanded, its how the idiot media/politicians/rappers made this "Teflon" coated bullet shit up. they said that because they were coated in "Teflon" (which it is actually Lubalox) which is basically just to make it feed better, said that it would slip through a ballistic vest. im actually getting pissed while typing this just because of how stupid people were about it.

and the black community thought the name was "racist"

the SXT is the same thing though man

  • @kingofthe40oz Ahh ok. That all went down when I was young so I don't know a whole lot about it, just that people were freaking over them for a while.

  • @nblax41

yeah it was a really idiotic ordeal dude, Winchester Ranger T-Series its the same bullet just not coated in Lubalox (which is not even teflon. It might be the same as the SXT? its either of those.

  • Has anyone noticed, the small S&W is the same used in Resident Evil 3 game :)

  • That is the first time I saw you without a hat and a leather cover on the table!

  • This went ahead and made my day.

  • Great video once again, but I have to say that this is the first time I've seen you without a hat on...

  • second the walther and tuxedo comment :)

still think you need to run for president old man

  • Interesting video. I have a Model 29-2 that I bought used in the 80's. It is my favorite target shooting pistol. I shoot .44 special rounds exclusively to lessen recoil. It is a fun gun to shoot and very accurate. But you're correct when you say the .44 special rounds are expensive.

  • you are better at shooting than choosing ties hickok ;-)

  • Hey hickok, just wantedo say that I love what you do, and you just seemed like a quality human being. So thank you.

  • They call me "Dollar Dick" can anyone guess why???

  • A shorter barrel version of this gun was carried by Mel Gibson in "Payback."

  • I saw an episode of Modern Marvels on the S&W .44mag. The president of the company (I think) said he loved it but the "board" I guess didn't because they said no one would buy it. Then "Dirty Harry" premiered and they couldn't keep them in stock, like you said. He also said lots of people bought it but either fired it once or never as they were afraid of it. He also said it was the finest gun the company made.

  • Lol My family calls me Dirty Harriet because i am a female who loves to shoot 44 magnums

  • @Movanaful and a redneck too :)

  • i cant believe you just shot off six talons like theyre worthless.....i love your videos man you just got another subscriber not that one person matters but hey keep it up awesome work

  • Just finished watching Dirty Harry! First video that pulls up on a "S&W Model 29" search?? Hickok45!! Keep making these awesome vids!!!

  • excellent video. amazing gun, great story

  • great vid as always, seen one almost like it in a pawn shop yesterday for 1700.00 want it so bad I can taste it

  • Very neat! I bought my Ruger Super 7.5 back in 1981. After a bunch of years and needing money due to soon X, I sold it - to my dad. Like you, I shot whatever they would let me shoot it in. Honestly in those days, the muzzel blast would shape up others who were not use to it. I got more than my share of stern stares. But I could knock out 10's with it, and that spoke more than any words I could add. Nice to see an oldie running still. I'll have to borrow it back and run some targets.

  • LOL at the Dirty Hickok sign off. classic! very cool vid too.

  • Dirty Harry was deaf.

  • Cool shooting skills!

    ----

    watch this:

    /watch?v=FSaeRHE4_fo&feature=channel_video_title

  • Great vid Hickok. Nice outfit, very FBI'ish. From the smoke I am guessing Unique in the handloads?

  • Almost 141,00 views, and only like 1,300 likes. I think people can't find the like button.

  • LMAO I am surprised no one said "Dirty Old Man" hahaha jkjkjkjkjk

  • Nice orchestra at 0:34

  • hey what ammo is that because it looks like its low recoil or you have extreme recoil management.

  • Possibly the greatest revolver ever made by mankind.

  • Hickok looks like such a creep in a suit. Good video though. Always enjoy his knowledge.

  • Man that round gets to the steel in a HURRY!

  • I've never seen Hickock so comfortable with a gun like he is here.

  • When the camera man zoomed in on the photograph of Hickok45 from the 70's and then panned back out so that we could see present-day Hickok45 with the model 29 on the table next to him, I couldn't help but realize how special it is for a man to hold on to something for such a long time and still be able to use it and enjoy it like the day it was new, even after all those years. There are not many things in life that possess that quality. This makes me want to hang on to all of my guns forever.

  • is that shooting range in your back yard? if so, you are my hero

  • I found a model 29-2 4 inch in South Carolina for $500.00 in great shape and I agree with the man, this will be a hand me down pistol to my son.

  • u should put on tunic and turbin and demonstrate the ak47

  • Hickok loves those big bullets lol

  • Do you have any Pre-model number S&W revolvers? i.e. Hand Ejectors, Triple-Locks, etc?

  • Thumbs up if you clicked because you saw Hickok in a suit on the thumbnail.

  • I just recently got a Ruger Alaskan 44 mag. Do you know where I can find a shoulder holster similar to yours ,but for my gun?

  • I just love turnin off the ole TV and turnin on HICKOK45!

  • Great video

  • great vid =]

  • I've got a Virginia Dragon .44 Mag, were they comparable to the S&W? I just inherited the gun from my grandfather and was wondering if anybody could give me a small insight into it

  • I remeber my dad firing his S&W 29 at night resting it on the hood of the car and brilliant red/orange fames came at least 4 ft out of the barrel.

  • 16 people like punks.

  • Comment removed

  • stop calling it a baby, IT'S A MONSTER!!!

  • you said it wrong! correct one is "does it fire 6 or only 5..."

  • Comment removed

  • @MrDJKaram it's actually " I know what your thinking did he fire six shots or only five" to tell you the truth in all this excitement i kinda lost track myself but being this is a .44 Magnum the most powerful handgun in the world and would blow your head clean off you've got to ask yourself one question " do i feel lucky" well do yah punk"

  • @peytonthegunnut i knew that i just meant that he switched them up..

  • respect bro from the netherlands

  • I LOVE my Model 29-2. In fact, watching this video made me go out to my safe and pull out ole "Betsy Sue!" That's the name for my 4" M29-2. I too have the same wooden box and instruction manual. The gun belonged to my dad. I killed a wild boar with it. Man does that 4" barrel make the gun HURT the base of my thumb!!!! My 6" Colt Anaconda tames the recoil much better. I'd never get rid of my M29 though.

  • hey hickok45 im 16 and im 5 10 and 147lbs is it a good first gun any ive shot many rifles but never a handgun

  • Dirty Hand shot offhand (with one hand only), and you shoot like Charlies Angels' girls - tow handed. And quit pounding that extractor rod!

  • I can't stop watching this video. I watched it so many times that I actually(not consciencely) memorized what you say!

  • gotta love the magnum

  • hey hickok! I'm a huge fan of your videos. Later this year I'm looking to pick up a model 29 in nickel finish. Keep up the good work!!!

  • I know this video is over two years old, but I just watched Taxi Driver for the first time in ten years. That 8 3/8" M29 is more like De Niro's Characters .44 Magnum. So is that shoulder holster. Mr Hickok, I know you are nothing like that character, and you purchased your M29 before the movie came out, but I thought I should make it known, and please bring that .44 Magnum out more!

  • I don't like Dirty Harry. I like Dirty Hickok.

  • Got to ask yourself...did hickok fire 5 or 6 shots??? Do you feel lucky?

  • Your the uncle everybody wish they had!

  • oh man that magnum is sexy

  • a hick kok wher do you buy your guns threr cool reply sory rong speling

  • the holster looks like its for a sword! haha

  • I had a 29 back 20+ years ago. A buddy owned a Beretta 9mm and kept telling me my 6 shooter was outdated for home defense. Told him if I found myself face to face with a burglar in my home, emptied all 6 rounds and he was still there I'd help him load my stuff.

Loved the look of the 29 but couldn't hit the ground with it. Ended up with a Ruger 44 that I found far more accurate in my hands.

  • BADASS. I love it man!

  • AWWWESOME!

  • Didn't he end up using a 6 1/2" barreled version in some of the films?

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Dirty......You Rock......Do you feel lucky today?

  • Hickock........ You ought to put on a tuxedo and demonstrate the Walther PPK

  • Dirty Hickok

  • @hickok45 i just bought a 29-2 yesterday and a viewer left me a comment on my video saying that i have to be careful because the screws come loose when shooting it. Is this true?

  • Man oh man, what a beauty. I had fired everything under the sun, except a magnum, of any flavor... But I tell you what. The very first time I dropped the hammer on my friends .44 (8" barreled Taurus). I knew even before it stopped recoiling, that there was no looking back. All the the high capacity, "wonder" whatever's. Could never have my heart. Don't get me wrong. Everything has it's place. But there is nothing that compares to a solid, flat shooting, magnum.

  • HAHAHA!!!!!! DO U FEEL LUCKY PUNK

  • Anybody ever heard of a Model 28-2 in 44 Magnum? As in TWENTY EIGHT dash TWO in FORTY FOUR MAGNUM. I have one that I was told was a German Special Police issued gun. Nickle cylinder. Big fat SW Grips, smooth, no checkering.

  • That's one hell of a smoky gun sir!

  • Comment removed

  • @GnomesAmok: No background check. He is a friend of mine. He had 2 model 29 that he got from his dad. He didn't need an extra one so he gave me a deal.

  • I have the 8 inch stainless model 29-2. Got it from a guy that wanted to unload some guns. Only paid $400.

  • @tacticalkimchi

Did you pass his background check?

  • hickock is that a holster or are you just happy to see us??? lol

  • I'm used to seeing you in your glock hat lol.

  • Can't beat a revolver.Point and pull the trigger.Accurate and reliable not to mention whatever you hit's gonna hit the ground and not get up.You can keep your 9mm pistols.

  • @70goldtop LOL @ they "9mm is not powerful" myth. A myth is all that is too. :)

  • @70goldtop Not smart to knock a caliber. Especially 9mm.

  • @Noremorse10 Not knocking any caliber.Just saying .44 is a better caliber in my hands than a 9.Some people do great with a 9MM.Personally,I don't.

  • Great shooting Inspector Callahan :)

  • What do you mean exactly by "a very HOT bullet"?

  • @Welther47 He means it's been loaded with a lot of powder and/or a heavy weight bullet, producing a lot of power as well as recoil. If you have reloading tools, you can customize your rounds and shoot big, badass bullets like hickock shoots.

  • Noticed who quite everything went after the first shot at about 9:40 Hehe that's respect :)

  • Your the best,, nice vid!

  • Hickok dude you crack me up lol!

  • So unfortunate that we have to purchase our firearms in grey plastic snap boxes instead of this beautiful wooden case you have there for the Smith. There's no quality anymore, so sad.

  • Not trying to be that guy, but San Francisco has Inspectors, not Detectives

  • I like your chess tie, hickok

  • He was pretty lucky! lmao! I hadn't had such a good laugh for some time. :D

  • Please, never stop making videos.

  • This was the first Hickock45 video I saw and I really thought, that he was a cop in 70s in SF :-D I was kinda confused when I found out, how it really is... :-D

  • @TheNessamb Why do you mention god?

  • Comment removed

  • Whoa, That was you?!?!

  • Dirty Hickok I like that.

  • okay, dont know if im the first person to notice this, but at 15:06 when Hickock puts the pistol down and spins the cylinder, it looks like it stops and then spins the other way.....might just be a glitch or the way the light hits it, but it looks weird!

  • I have that same holster. I carry a .22 in it. lol

  • @TheNessamb how about instead of moving you should change your laws. no force is more powerful than the power of the people. if you cant change laws by words you change them by force.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheBassGuitarist1 cool, thanx 4 responding

  • Mr. Hickok, Does the Model 29 have any problems shooting .44 Specials? Either standard- or over-pressured, or even light or heavy grain projectiles? I remember in your other video featuring both the Colt Python and the S&W Model 19, the Colt was having problems shooting .38 specials in double-action mode. I was wondering if perhaps the Model 29 had any similar problems concerning .44 specials. BTW I love your videos, keep 'em coming.

    :-)

  • @armenianesh818 it wasnt the 38 cartridge having trouble it was either fault of hard primers or the hammer striking to lightly on the python ...shooting 357s in double action in that gun could have the same problem so any revolver will shoot specials just as reliably as magnums

  • for an asian kid im a strong shooter..im dirty but not harry...im Raynor...

  • Black Talons? Carried 'em for a good while. The racebaiters were running out of things to complain about, so they seized on these bullets by saying that they were made for the specific purpose of shooting black people. Instead of laughing such an absurdity off, the company capitulated. The cartridge still exists... but by a different name.

  • Before Dirty Harry came out in '71, a Model 29 cost $149. Guy I worked with carried a 4" barrelled one. And you are right..... after the movie came out you couldn't find one unless you were willing to take out a second mortgage on the house.

  • Decades ago I used to know every handgun made; especially S&W back in the N and K model days. I knew the differences between the dashed models by memory, and owned most of the models. Today, I don't even know what Smith and Wesson makes.

  • I don't recognize Hickok45 without his hat.

  • mate you are a legend. love these vids! finally a man who knows what hes talking about, no BS, and a straight shooter! you should have your own cable show. in fact, just run for pres :)

  • Great videos, great stories, great guy!

  • @TheNessamb We'll welcome you with open arms.

  • @CrystalHunter1989 i would take people like him in the country rather than people that dont appreciate or understand the 2nd amendment any day we need our country full of gun owners rather than anti gunners

  • @ShadowRSonic they are banned in the uk because of the dunblane massacre you can't get a licence for them the only handgun you can get is a black powder pistol or black powder revolver anything other then that is illegal apart from special cases when it's a very old handgun

  • One gun that I always wanted& now i cant have due to the handgun ban of 1997.Thanks alot Mr Major for caving into pressure, worrying about appeasing people for votes, instead of standing your ground.
