  • Thanks Marty for the tips in this lesson I tried them out and have seen results pretty quick thanks again for another great lessons and keeping me inspired

  • Marty! I'm a huge fan of your work, Spread that knowledge! The thing that confuses me however, is why and why not certain chords/notes sound good in succession, and others do not. Please blow my mind with a lesson on music theory.

  • paying attention to keeping your muscles relaxed helps a lot too.people have a tendency to hold their breath or tense up their shoulders when playing which will make it hard to develop the correct muscle memory.

  • bar chords. fml

  • Hey Marty what about when I want to start to sing, I am having trouble with that playing (strumming) and singing at the same time. How can I overcome that?

    thanks for all the help

  • Hey Marty you forgot to talk about relative fingerings. Like the ring finger on the B string in a G chord and the D chord, it stay's the same.

Just wondering if you can do a lesson on how to solo.I know both the major and minor scales by heart but I do not know what to do with it.I have been stuck in the same position for a couple of years now.I never really understood how to use the scales, and I would really like to advance. Thank You

  • @aricman100 Have you tried to skip intervals on the scales just to get away from running up and down.

  • @guitarjamzdotcom

hey marty can you give a lesson about pentatonic scales and how to put them together

i really dont understand that thing with solos and stuff

  • when im in the internet i watch your uploads :D

  • Could you do a video similiar to this one but with Barre chords? I sometimes have troubles switching to certain barre chords.

  • @DTADmusic what i've learned to do is if i'm having trouble with a weird fingered chord, of any kind, is to play a little section that the chord appears in. I do this very slowly, but making sure i get everything perfectly right. I play it at the same speed for a while, then you do it a little faster, then make sure you can do it correctly, and do it even faster. Repeat the process and soon you'll find that you can play it at normal speed or even faster! Tell me if this helped you out!

  • @XIDoStuffX Yeah I can play the chords properly and at proper speeds, it's just that switching from certain major to certain minor chords is a bit tricky for me. Thanks for the tip though.

  • watching porn? haha 1 hand is busy switching chords while the other is busy with something else.

  • Man u rock I posted this video on my Friends wall who is learning guitar and is a beginner and just bought his guitar I have guitar for almost 4 5 months and you have been a great inspiration and every single one of your lesson was helpful carry on with your good work ......... regards Marty!!!

  • thx

  • KEEP THE SHAPE!

    Nice battle cry. xD

  • i learned by doing 4 different cords that went together im pretty fast now

  • Marty: epiphone les paul or fendre stratocaster? My first electric guitar!!!

  • @guitarristaderock21

complete different guitars, if you want a clean sound pick the strat, if you prefer the thicker rock sound pick the epiphone.

  • 5:09 Best Part! :D

  • A really good tip that helped me developing chord control is to lift one of the fingers and placing it back on while playing... playing around with all the fingers that shape the chord, pressing the finger down and then lifting it up, while leaving the others pressed. It also makes the strumming a LOT more fun because you have variation in your playing, with minimum muscle effort, and maximum enjoyment from playing.

It's actually fun to play using this tip.

    Enjoy :)

  • That "spit-second" tip is good for open chords to barre chords transition.

  • Great tips Marty!

  • I use the "method" at 2:10 for working on my major scale runs. To get it to be more ingrained.

  • For a beginner knowing how to play G Major 50 different ways doesn't help. When I started 2 years ago. I learned as Marty has taught. A few chords at a time. Worked on getting the strumming and chord shapes just right so now it's automatic.

  • i can't tell you how much of an inspiration you are :) Great channel and great work. One of the best guitarists on youtube

  • @WhyDoesCatsSmell On YouTube?? In the world!!!

  • Class marty!

  • awesome lesson as always marty!!!! would you be able to give some nofx or dead kennedy songs lessons?? plzzzzz

  • Nice lesson! I had trouble with this like my first week of learning!

  • reminded me of when i was a beginner and how you guys gave colors to my music :)))))

  • Thanks Marty! I myself have a few guitar students and sometimes it's pretty hard to teach them how to swtich between the chords, you know "Do you have some tips how to learn change the chords faster?".

I allready knew the "multitasking" thing but not the freeze method or target notes. So i'm gonna try it out. Thanks ^^

  • The intro reminded me of Dreaming with a Broken Heart by John Mayer and Red Roses by Aj Rafael..check those tunes out!

  • thanks, i will show this to my friends that are learning

  • 5th

  • wanna switch chords fast?--repetition repetition repetition!
