gee, marty, it sure would be nice if you forgot about "beginners" for a video or two, and taught us long time viewers something a little more advanced..(lil wayne and eminem tutorials, really?)
it's been a while. but i guess having "super easy beginner" in your titles gets more views...
Marty....I tried, I tried, and I tried. I just couldn't surf the interent and play those chords! My elbow would click the mouse when I didn't want to! 2:05
Wow, been trying to play guitar for a long while now, just started watching videos online to get better... the "target finger" trick is already helping me with the seemingly impossible F chord! Thanks a bunch!
Marty, not only are the tips you give great, but the video's are structured so well that you are able to get everything across perfectly! Thank you so much!
hey marty! because of you, iv picked up my old dusty acoustic that i gave up playing 3 years ago because my teacher was.... well he sucked lol i was just wondering if you could do a lesson on the song last christmas?
Marty is a genuinely involved guitar instructor for anyone who cares to improve their approach to the journey that dedicating yourself to playing as well as you're able.implies. Thanks for everything I've seen from you, dude.
Marty you'r amazing ... when i was small i always used to give up on everything like football judo ect ... same thing hapened with guitar playing but somehow a couple of years ago i stumbled across one of your videos and since then i never looked back.
Hi Mr. Marty, you know why you are the best guitar teacher online? It's because you always have the passion to teach us some good guitar chords. Just keep it up!
the beginner thing is really being done to death. how about something more advanced? i ordered your "blues master class" and it was ok, but the series didn't really go much further than the advanced beginner stage. less of a master class, more like an early intermediate class.
hey marty can u make vid. with "how chords are working " i mean what chords can be connected, becouse there are chords that realy sund great and some sund real bad when connected, please help me out :)
Thanks Marty for the tips in this lesson I tried them out and have seen results pretty quick thanks again for another great lessons and keeping me inspired
Marty! I'm a huge fan of your work, Spread that knowledge! The thing that confuses me however, is why and why not certain chords/notes sound good in succession, and others do not. Please blow my mind with a lesson on music theory.
paying attention to keeping your muscles relaxed helps a lot too.people have a tendency to hold their breath or tense up their shoulders when playing which will make it hard to develop the correct muscle memory.
Hey Marty what about when I want to start to sing, I am having trouble with that playing (strumming) and singing at the same time. How can I overcome that?
Hey Marty! Just wondering if you can do a lesson on how to solo.I know both the major and minor scales by heart but I do not know what to do with it.I have been stuck in the same position for a couple of years now.I never really understood how to use the scales, and I would really like to advance. Thank You
This really helped, thanks. I'm actually just using your videos to learn basic guitar, and I thought it wouldn't be enough, and I'd need a tutor or whatnot, but I'm actually making real progress. So, thankyou, a lot :D
@DTADmusic what i've learned to do is if i'm having trouble with a weird fingered chord, of any kind, is to play a little section that the chord appears in. I do this very slowly, but making sure i get everything perfectly right. I play it at the same speed for a while, then you do it a little faster, then make sure you can do it correctly, and do it even faster. Repeat the process and soon you'll find that you can play it at normal speed or even faster! Tell me if this helped you out!
@XIDoStuffX Yeah I can play the chords properly and at proper speeds, it's just that switching from certain major to certain minor chords is a bit tricky for me. Thanks for the tip though.
Man u rock I posted this video on my Friends wall who is learning guitar and is a beginner and just bought his guitar I have guitar for almost 4 5 months and you have been a great inspiration and every single one of your lesson was helpful carry on with your good work ......... regards Marty!!!
A really good tip that helped me developing chord control is to lift one of the fingers and placing it back on while playing... playing around with all the fingers that shape the chord, pressing the finger down and then lifting it up, while leaving the others pressed. It also makes the strumming a LOT more fun because you have variation in your playing, with minimum muscle effort, and maximum enjoyment from playing.
For a beginner knowing how to play G Major 50 different ways doesn't help. When I started 2 years ago. I learned as Marty has taught. A few chords at a time. Worked on getting the strumming and chord shapes just right so now it's automatic.
Thanks Marty! I myself have a few guitar students and sometimes it's pretty hard to teach them how to swtich between the chords, you know "Do you have some tips how to learn change the chords faster?".
I allready knew the "multitasking" thing but not the freeze method or target notes. So i'm gonna try it out. Thanks ^^

It's actually fun to play using this tip.
Enjoy :)
