You may Want to try a shower perch. They cant be directly under running water, and showers produce more mist. let him walk close enough to get the mist from the shower. Mine does this and he loves it, he is completely soaked afterwards. Your doesn't appear to be getting a good bath that way.
When im taking a shower my birds will sometimes fly over the top and land in the shower and i would turn the heat down to luke warm and they run in and out of the of the water the dont mind how fast the water is running so those people who think they know everything don't some birds vary on how fast they like the water...
People post for entertainment and why does there have to be negativity on everything? Can't someone just sit back, watch and enjoy and leave all the negative comments out of this! Enjoy the video and say nothing!
Ok seriously people, stop complaining that the water was on too high for the bird. If he didn't like it he would be backing away. He isn't THAT stupid as to hurt himself like that. Obviously the bird was fine with how the faucet was. Now please shut up and stop nitpicking. Geez.
@BabeonToast No shit sherlock. Obviously I ain't a vet. But you don't have to use that as a reason to say all people with birds have no clue what they're doing.
why don't YOU grow the fuck up and stop being so goddamn patronizing. Why did you even pick this fight in the first place. Piss off and go troll someone else, troll.
@BabeonToast its not to fast, if it was the bird wouldnt dip his head in every few seconds. dont act like you are an expert, me and @bluebird1494 have something you dont, EXPERIENCE. so shut up and talk about worth your talking.
Also, Sunshine loves the blow dryer, but as Kage999 points out, you have to be very careful. I put it on the lowest setting and make sure it's at least three feet away from the bird, She loves it and would sleep in front of it all day if I let her,
Here's the method we've discovered for Sunshine, our pearl cockatiel:
I place a wet washcloth over the divider for the kitchen sink, then turn on a trickle of water so that it splashes into the basin, Sunshine walks to the washcloth, then climbs down into the basin and takes her shower. The droplets are small and she can regulate how wet she gets by how long she stays in and where she is positioned in the basin. When she's done, she just climbs back up to the countertop.
My bird hates water in any form whatsoever. He screeches and flies away whenever I have tried to wash him, and now he even knows the sink as the place where I take him to be washed, and he flies away when I even get him near it. How do you get your bird to take a bath?
@MultiGerryG i wasnt talking to you now was i Youcansuckme69 asked "How do you get your bird to take a bath?" and i told him NOT YOU .plus if they fly they could fly into a window ass faget you must be a noob bird owner pick up a book on cockatiels and read before you say some stupied shit on some ones youtube video dumb fuck.
use a spray bottle, try every day to spray briefly. do it during the day or they'll sleep with a wet feathers, so they can get sick. at some point, they understand the intent. and go crazy. i have 5 teil's taking a shower see my you tube movie...... i love them:D
The bird will not use the water from tap or spray bottle whatever the method UNLESS THEY want to.. this is perfectly cute <3 i have two cockatiels one cant stand the water unless from a spray bottle the other flies to the kitchen sink and want the tap turned on a low stream and will stay there for an hour... LOVE THE VIDEO VERY CUTE <3
A bird will not die from that unless the owner forcefully puts the bird under the water. A bird will clean itself if it wants to and birds are intelligent if the bird did feel uncomfortable he wouldn't use the water he would simply ignore it, walk away, or fly away.
Please help...I got a cockatiel several months ago. He was HAND RAISED and HAND FED. He was GREAT at first. He was the SWEEEETEST THING!!!!!!!!! I ALWAYS scratched his head and everything, and I taught him TRICKS even! He LOVED me! Then, I had school and I stopped taking him out of the cage every day...and now....now he HATES ME! I am crying because he used to be so sweet! and i'm trying to rebuild the relationship..he bites me and hisses at me through the cage... Please, help!
@Tiara8129 he's probably lonely and this makes him cranky, does he have plenty of toys to keep him occupied whilst your at school? Maybe leave the door open when you get home and let him come out, you need to let him out everyday for him to feel happy with you. Maybe start with just sitting next to the cage and chatting to him for a good half hour, then open the cage door - let him come out on his terms, then give him a special treat. keep doing this...
Thank God there are people out there that don't clip the poor bird's feathers! I love my cockatiel so much and I had patience to train him where to stay and what to do. He actually follows me around my home, but he knows where the limit of following is and he juts waits for me there. Clipping a bird's feathers is wrong on so many levels!
yeah maybe use a spray bottle or something next time. Although he was able to use the tap to suit his needs, something with a little less power would probably be better.
A bird perching on your finger next to a tap is a way of bathing your cockatiel. It is perfectly safe (unless sink was pressurized and as you can see it is not) If the bird was truly uncomfortable it would not go near the water. Also spray bottles can be another way to bathe a bird but it doesn't clean them that well and often scares the bird as if it were being attacked.
