these days are gone , instead of hitting the streets for a cause , this generation rather mobilize for the new iphone or even worse the next new war game
ironically if you were living in 1967 you wouldn't be able to enjoy this alternate version on the internet. in fact, i don't think lou reed himself even had a copy. the acetate was just sitting around in the recording studio for decades, then it got sold at a flea market, where people like me dwell and find cool things for cheap . . .
@itsfloodindownintex We need like a Nirvana for this decade.. A talented band that's all about the music yet still manages to *gasp* become really popular/mainstream somehow. One that rebels against the current cookie cutter musical conventions. It could happen.
OMG you're turning 16?! Dude, you're like totally gonna make music awesome again and stuff. I feel slightly more retarded just reading that kind of post on something so timeless as Velvet Underground, thanks.
this song is so amazing whn im my studio and art class i listen to this sonmg over and over and over agin it inspires me and makes my art so psycadellic
first things that come to my mind- heroin is diacetyl morphine and acid was made illegal in 66, october 6th. the delivery of syntax, and tempo changes, make it sit alot differant than the final version. I'm glad this one exists. vinyl pyridine is found in cinnamon and nutmeg is a type of poison wood from this same area of the world that ecstasy is made of. pyridine is a geometric shield like thing that seperates the living from the nonliving, what sense does rave make? or this a fine avanthtoy
I listen to this song when I'm feeling down. Even though I have never touched drugs, I know what he means when he says he wants to "nulify" his life. Life is tough, but you gotta think of the good times!
Super good. I haven't heard this version before. I have heard Lou revert to this later (after the Velvets disbanded) and never knew it was just back to basics.
Nice to have something new to listen to after 25 years of cramming their records into my head again and again and again.
Well, for all young ones today (that includes me) who want to make great music, do it not trying to resemble anybody. That's the key to originality. Play it anywhere, in the streets, the schools, your backyard, but play it non-stop. Great post there COGENTCOG thank you.
@mewrth So the key to being original is to try not sounding like any other band (basically the definition of original). Brilliant. Do you know how hard it is to come up with good music completely out of nowhere? Every band draws influences from a variety of their favourite bands before edventually developing their own style, that's why music mutates and changes over time and there's different movements in music. Classical became pop, blues became rock etc.
@IoEstasCedonta That's exactly what I plan on doing I am turning 16 this July and I plan to make a difference in music I want music to be music again and I'll try my hardest and devote myself to change this bullshit that's called music I want to be live loud and tear down this noise like the Berlin Wall! We can if we try Motivation should come from ourselves and inspire us like this music man I hope I make success in changing the music of todays youth.
This album set the stage for all music since. And to set music straight again, we've just got to keep trying to emulate the creativity and genius like VU
Yeah, you're right. But today's fuckwads won't give a damn to music like this. There are a lot of bands trying to bring back good music with a modern touch, but there will always be electronic music and comercial rock and hip-hop or whatever.
@foxoftrot Actually, a lot of the aspects of that decade were superficial... Many of those people just conformed to what others did. Now, don't get me wrong, some of them were TRULY like that, but for the most part... it's just people who were caught in the moment (like many of the idiots in the Tea Party)
Wow my comment wins. I should spew my uncalled for opinions into the internet more often.
