  • heroin rules

  • Heroin its my and my wife

  • Yes.

  • @800fhearts guess you guys fucked then, back in the days? ^^

  • these days are gone , instead of hitting the streets for a cause , this generation rather mobilize for the new iphone or even worse the next new war game

  • ironically if you were living in 1967 you wouldn't be able to enjoy this alternate version on the internet. in fact, i don't think lou reed himself even had a copy. the acetate was just sitting around in the recording studio for decades, then it got sold at a flea market, where people like me dwell and find cool things for cheap . . .

  • @newfuckingwave u get 20 thumps up from me !

  • you ll never feel what they felt in that moment they wrote this song

  • I read somewhere that Justin Bieber was going to release a cover version of this song.

  • @kastastan Just a joke.

  • @kastastan ha

  • Ceci n'est pas une banane!

  • Real music nowadays is on the road but I can see it on the radio again someday soon people are fed up with the fake bullshit.

  • @itsfloodindownintex We need like a Nirvana for this decade.. A talented band that's all about the music yet still manages to *gasp* become really popular/mainstream somehow. One that rebels against the current cookie cutter musical conventions. It could happen.

  • Nice song

  • OMG you're turning 16?! Dude, you're like totally gonna make music awesome again and stuff. I feel slightly more retarded just reading that kind of post on something so timeless as Velvet Underground, thanks.

  • this version is a live version with doug.y

  • This son is just fucking awesome ! I wish i Was born a thousand years ago :/

  • Fantastic... this is just amazing!

  • can someone tell which exact date HEROIN song was first ever released as a DEMO?

  • THIS VERSION IS GREAT!!!

  • great!

  • Haha, still remeber when i was 22 and heard this god dammed song over and over again :)

  • this song is so amazing whn im my studio and art class i listen to this sonmg over and over and over agin it inspires me and makes my art so psycadellic

  • Ahhh.... vinyl! I love this crackling sounds... MUSIC MEANS LIFE!!!

  • first things that come to my mind- heroin is diacetyl morphine and acid was made illegal in 66, october 6th. the delivery of syntax, and tempo changes, make it sit alot differant than the final version. I'm glad this one exists. vinyl pyridine is found in cinnamon and nutmeg is a type of poison wood from this same area of the world that ecstasy is made of. pyridine is a geometric shield like thing that seperates the living from the nonliving, what sense does rave make? or this a fine avanthtoy

  • @ambianimaton YES!!!!

  • So raw, like it was recorded with a 50 year old rusty air conditioner.

  • Thanks COGENTCOG. Glad I stumbled in here. Gritty and raw. I like it.

  • I listen to this song when I'm feeling down. Even though I have never touched drugs, I know what he means when he says he wants to "nulify" his life. Life is tough, but you gotta think of the good times!

  • Whoever says this song makes you feel like you're on heroin...lied.

  • Super good. I haven't heard this version before. I have heard Lou revert to this later (after the Velvets disbanded) and never knew it was just back to basics.

Nice to have something new to listen to after 25 years of cramming their records into my head again and again and again.

  • Well, for all young ones today (that includes me) who want to make great music, do it not trying to resemble anybody. That's the key to originality. Play it anywhere, in the streets, the schools, your backyard, but play it non-stop. Great post there COGENTCOG thank you.

  • @mewrth So the key to being original is to try not sounding like any other band (basically the definition of original). Brilliant. Do you know how hard it is to come up with good music completely out of nowhere? Every band draws influences from a variety of their favourite bands before edventually developing their own style, that's why music mutates and changes over time and there's different movements in music. Classical became pop, blues became rock etc.

  • love it.

  • This song is pure genious. I love how he makes you feel what its like on heroin instead of just singing about it. absolutely awesome

  • I love the crackles..pure warmth

  • havn't heard this early version b4, it's a great listen, thx for putting it up! 5*

  • This is the best song by my favorite band, so I like it, but it's not my favorite rendition.

  • no i ment to say that i love this version the best

  • there are very few good bands like this today, but they exist, like The Sonic Youth

  • Remember, folks, no internet in 1966. Hell, no trig-capable calculators in 1966.

You want music like this? Make it. You want to tear down the corporate assholes? DO IT. It's not as hard as you think. Just...be...loud.

  • @IoEstasCedonta fuck, yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @IoEstasCedonta That's exactly what I plan on doing I am turning 16 this July and I plan to make a difference in music I want music to be music again and I'll try my hardest and devote myself to change this bullshit that's called music I want to be live loud and tear down this noise like the Berlin Wall! We can if we try Motivation should come from ourselves and inspire us like this music man I hope I make success in changing the music of todays youth.

  • @Chayse88Black Wow, 16? You'll be in your fucking prime man.

  • @IoEstasCedonta haha... I basically wrote the same thing a few seconds ago xD

  • fuck the cd you faggot this version is better, aND RARE

  • @jesselakerr

Yes Hippie faggots all of them!

  • This album set the stage for all music since. And to set music straight again, we've just got to keep trying to emulate the creativity and genius like VU

  • Man, you guys know how hard it is to find these versions?

You, my friend, are lucky to have this lol.

I read online these acetates are extremely rare.

  • He doesn't own it

  • YES! VINYL HEAVEN!

Man, I've experienced crackle with old tapes my dad had :) but never really experienced vinyl until recently.

The first time I heard this band was on a copied CD-R that belonged to my sis.

She got it as a gift. One of the best cd's that I ever heard. Though, its a shame that only the Indie community really likes it.

  • Born at the wrong time? Fuck that!

We can bitch about things or set them straight.

Its our bitchy, do nothing attitude which makes our generation seem so lifeless and useless.

Instead of feeling nostalgic for a decade we don't even remember, why don't we try improve the one we are living in.

    Hell it really needs improving.

  • Yeah, you're right. But today's fuckwads won't give a damn to music like this. There are a lot of bands trying to bring back good music with a modern touch, but there will always be electronic music and comercial rock and hip-hop or whatever.

  • @foxoftrot One of the best comments I've read on youtube.

  • @foxoftrot Actually, a lot of the aspects of that decade were superficial... Many of those people just conformed to what others did. Now, don't get me wrong, some of them were TRULY like that, but for the most part... it's just people who were caught in the moment (like many of the idiots in the Tea Party)

  • @JaackPat

Wow my comment wins. I should spew my uncalled for opinions into the internet more often. Agreed, since posting this comment I have traveled the world for a year and come to the conclusion that most everyone has a very skewed idea of where they are in history and what they should be concerned about and what might be done.

The uprising in Tunisia should be an example for us all. THERE IS NO TIME TO CHALLENGE AUTHORITY LIKE THE PRESENT.

  • @foxoftrot: yes yes yes. A thousand times YES buddy.

You hate nowadays music? MAKE the music you want to listen to!

You hate politics? Stop whining about it, become a politician. CREATE the world you want to live in!

Everybody out there, GET OFF your laptops and iPhones and back into reality!

start something big, something good, something REAL.

And when you listen to this song while your doing it, it's guaranteed to be great =)

  • brillent!!!

  • This is the audio equivalent of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

  • Pure Art

  • love that screeching viola

  • how the song goes faster the words go along whit the rytam and the theme comes to evolution, and than slow again, that is what heroin does!!!

  • Says it all.

I'll take the pepsi challenge anytime..

    Heroin......

    Well I guess.

  • This is an epic song. Why is anyone even talking about the Jonas Brothers and Rihanna? They don't stack up against any group with musical competence. I'm not digging at you satalitesarespinning, just wondering why anyone dignifies aforementioned with any sort of comment. They don't deserve it. I know they're popular, but anyone with a brain knows how untalented they are. So who cares....

  • You are the one who is talking about them. It's your kind that keeps their name spread. I wouldn't know about them if you people didn't keep bringing them up.

    Listen to music

  • it was just another time back there in the sixties! Men had another lifestyle, Everything's different now. I hear The Velvet Revolver for the first time today, and I think it's not bad! for me it sounds interesting. Each to his own!

  • Men had another lifestyle in the 60's.. Oh come off it, you have haven't lived at that time. The 60's are so romantized. All the people who later on claimed they were hippies weren't. Most people were square in the 60's, just like today. But history doesn't remember them.

Men had another lifestyle.. I think it's you who have a terrible lifestyle right now, I know I don't. Lou Reed sings later on on the same record: Choose to choose.

  • I agree to the max

Build heaven here on Earth sort of thing.

Its our life in the here and now and its our life to enjoy.

  • Hey LogInAnders,

I just read your reply, as I've been away for a while. Sorry for the delay! I was replying to people who had previously posted about the Jonas Brothers and Rihanna. Perhaps you should do a little investigation before you make retarded, unwarranted statements.

And maybe listen to different music, it might help your IQ.

  • @frankspandrel yes write those capitals to make you seem intelligent, WRITE IT!

  • If the people that like Jonas Bros. and Rihanna were to all like VU, this world would suck. This is what differentiates us from them. Be happy that the line is so distinct.

  • +1 .

  • best music of 1900

  • almost as good as good as original ...this was not on "peel slow and see' good dick work cog !

  • v'la un commentaire en francais d'un mome de 14 ans : vive le velvet underground, vive Lou Reed, vive le rock n roll

  • EpicMooProductions, I totally agree with you. Jonas Brothers, Rihanna etc etc etc are all crap compared to bands like VU. I was also born in the wrong music era. :)

  • yeah like... there arent enough songs about drugs. especially heroin. stop arguing and shoot up lmao

  • so fuckin good song

  • where you get this version?

    green banana?

  • from my usual record shop

  • vinyl rules!

  • @COGENTCOG where and what's that?

  • Ah i know, he was the manager.. but he made the band famous, supported the first serie with Nico..

  • Comment removed

  • Andy Warhol isnt a band mister know it all

  • pfff...

    Pink Floyd is just awesome

Listen to Careful With That Axe Eugene

  • Thats why the VU is considered one of the most influential bands of all time and has been respected since the sixties. You know what icp is considered?A fucking joke.

Yup thats why Lou Reed has a near genius iq and icp couldnt even graduate highschool. Now back to the kiddie music you fucking little mongoloid waste of oxygen.

  • Pink Floyd are from the UK you ignorant cunt. This is music for adults little boy having discussions about real music.TIme to go back to watching videos of mask wearing/clown painted kiss wannabes you fucking retard.

HA HA as I said icp and all the interchangeable talentless clowns on psychopathic are look at as a joke by almost any serious music fans and the Velvet Underground were voted as being the most influential band in history second to the beatles. You fail again.

  • "pfft. VU blows donkey balls, Pink Floyd has the greatest music in american history, and anybody from psychopathic records could, and does, do better than VU."

    Your own. The hammers, please.

  • you comparing the VU to ICP? WUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    Psychopathetic, you mean.

And by the way, Pink Floyd is ENGLISH!, Dipshit.

  • I know they are English, dour sir.

And, since I can't remember what I'm comparing VU to, care tell me?

  • @HaydnRamone Yeah tellem Steve!

  • Okay okay, enough about pink floyed every one just shut up about it. Anyone who comes here should come to listen Not to insult. People r such idiots these days!!!!!!!!!

  • i agree with slipran completly i am almost 16 and i listen to music like this and pink floyd and shit. The kids listen to all this pop crap that there has not very much feel or soul put into their music. The bands dont play music today for the music they just play it for the money. That's just my opinion though

  • so true. I'm a teen of today's society and I admit, I'm disgusted in the music today. They should play classics like this one on the radio stations today. Music like this fascinates me and kids in my school are listening to such crap in the charts and stuff. Old music forever!

  • There is good new music, you just have to know where to look. There are plenty of really great recent bands, but they just aren't on the charts.

  • i agree. today's music is totally talentless and no effort. I hate today's music.

  • nowadays nobody makes music like this anymore....too bad that music industry in fact destroyed true music. now we have only bluffs and rubbish

  • There is some bands out there that make some quality music with style such as VU. Dont get me wrong they still dont even come close to VU. The problem is you dont hear it because it gets no radio play or respect because these days everyones into the shit rap music and people like the Jonas Brothers who have no talent, the music industry is all about money now, its like talent doesnt even matter to record companies anymore.. very sad

  • I know right, All the teen girls at school love the Jonas Brothers. eew, they make me sick. It's like music these days is an alarm clock and jonas brothers are the time set for all the girls. Not me though I love VU they're my favorite band. Though I do enjoy REALLY old hiphop, This is what music should be. sad, I was born at the wrong music era.

  • Dude..you last words were Epic!Fucking True I was born in the wrong time era....93 :S

  • its the first time i hear music like this

    jajaja

  • does anyone know where i can get this?

  • Everywhere. I recently did a few cd-shops in Belgium and I saw this cd twice. So if you go to a cd-shop in you area I guess they can order it.

  • Give me a shout and I'll send you a link w/ the whole album available as MP3's.

  • thats allright man i found one a couple days back but thanks for the offer anyways highly appreciated :)

  • I think that there're good bands right now, but they don't have chance to be popular. Producents konw that some pop bands will be more famous

  • dude its true... where did the good music go? why is it always old? why today theyre playing some shit... which you cant even compare with this.

  • Music like this still exists but you have to find it.

  • beautiful. i love the velvet underground. what happened to good music?

  • Oh, the music? Driven to extinction.

  • If only the radio stations today played music like this. Forty two years later and very few bands can rival this music

  • Hey now...there's independent stations that justly thrive on music like this!

  • I agree. Today all the radio stations are way too commercial. Kids aren't used of listening to this kind of music anymore and it's just by coinsidence that I learned to know this band.

  • Yes I will take the snap crackle and pops. Not everything is perfect and clear.

  • I wish i was born a thousand miles away.

    Thank you

  • Thank You!

  • some music sounds better with bumps, scratches and pops. This is one of those.

  • I don't know where you found this but thank you.
