  • Oh god this is so good.

  • The best soft cell album

  • uphhh god.

    too good to be true

  • bravo! bravo! quite excellent recording!

  • Lembro da 1a. vez que ouviu essa música e não esqueci nunca.

  • This is one of my favorite Soft Cell songs! Does anyone know who the lady was singing at the end of the song? And does anyone know what this song is about? I've been wondering this for a long time. :)

  • @rockerclogger If I remember rightly (and I'm old so maybe not) it's about the torch singers from gawd knows when singing about unrequited love and he's feeling the same way (loves someone and they have no idea).

  • @whozituseit Ok thanks for telling me :)

  • @rockerclogger I believe the lady singing at the end is Cindy Ecstasy, who sings in a few other of Soft Cell's songs.

  • @addressingstars Thanks for telling me :)

  • favorite song from soft cell. Its on a 12 s in America.

  • 1 of the greatest song from soft cell, ' non stop erotic caberet is a classic album though dunno if ' say hello wave goodbye is on it , which is absolutely the best in their early period

  • class...real F****** CLASS!!!

  • This song's not on the US L.P.

I believe it was on the U.K L.P. though.

At least that what I've heard.

Ps I still have my L.P (U.S.) that I bought in 82. It ain't there. Wish it was :)

Cheers from Cocoa Beach Fla. to all my British brothers and sisters!

  • @grubblesnert cheers to you too

  • Mais uma balada que marcou minha vida.A soma dos vocais dramáticos de Marc Almond, melodia, arranjo e letra captam com precisão o melancólico sentimento de estar tão só.

  • la mejor canción de soft cell lo dice todo.techno cabaret

  • Comment removed

  • Falling oooold, felling sooo coooold!!!!! Love this!

  • Soft Cell were SO under-rated. Almond himself didn't realise how good they were! This actually got to NUMBER 1 in the UK! None of his solo 'experimental' work is actually as truly vital and edgy as this and something like Say Hello Wave Goodbye.

  • @jimdivax it got to no2 ,, but its still awesome

  • Música extremamente dançante, mais ao mesmo tempo triste! Soft Cell (Y)

  • Heerlijk ik ben weer 19!!!!!

  • My Favourite Soft Cell track Marc is so so talented, thanks for posting.

  • I've this album. It doesn't have this song.

  • great song, i miss the music of the 80's.

music with real instruments and songs with a meaning

  • great track

  • im 14 but still love this song and all soft cells songs :)

  • very very synchronic :-) :-)

  • top 10 of 1980,s depeche mode duran duran soft cell tears for fears spandau ballet frankie goes to hollywood the human league kraftwerk billy idol wham modern trash is not worth a toss in comparison.
  • Muito fodaa

  • great!

  • QUE DE BON SOUVENIR

UN SUPER HITS QUI NOUS A FAIT VIBRER

VIVE LE REGRETTER (CLUB 400 DRUMMONDVILLE)

  • Great tune but somebody should have killed that sax intro bastard before it it was born.

  • I heard this song for the first time in Poland on the hotel radio. I'm from America, and it was 1984. My dad was a scientist and went to Poland for business. I heard this in my hotel room and for 25 years I wondered who did this song. I Googled the words that i could remember and came up with this! It made me feel like that little kid in some one strange country again. Marvelous!

  • I'm lost again and I'm on the run Looking for love in a sad song. With your avenger eyes and your catlike ways I can hold you. You are a fool for me to be cruel. I'm leaning on this bar listening to you sing And your sad song rings in my ears and I start to cry. He's searching she's showing See him heZd in a deep deep spell he knows she's glowing. I can find within my mind a way to go I can look deep into your light and shout Hold me hold me hold me hold me hold me.
  • @hornetobiker I hear the saxophone and it tears my soul And we're feeling old feeling so cold She is the torch and she is the theme She could be a dream but - oh boy - is she real. Try to avoid her eyes to avoid her words They will hit you with all that you feel. He's searching she's showing . . . See her eyes they are bright tonight. See the stars coming out tonight. See the moon looking down tonight
  • @hornetobiker

See how they light your way tonight.

See my eyes they are bright tonight.

See my hands reaching out tonight.

Hear my words they are dynamite

See how they light your way tonight.

See her eyes they are bright tonight. . . .

See her eyes they are bright tonight.

  • Lurve....

  • OMG Soft Cell , Just what the doctor ordered

  • How I love this kind of music !

  • fucking awseome.

  • fucking sax is awesome

  • My favourite Soft Cell track.

  • Soft Cell. Probably the only decent thing to come out of Leeds

  • i love this song....

  • lindo esse clipe

  • Geweldig!!!!! Dit is een supernummer

  • good this song takes me back, absolutley agree , underplayed song, for some odd reasons it reminds me of the world cup and happy days oas a kid out play ing footie

  • Numpty! It is on the original!

  • @graham1964fp I tell you what then smart arse, how about I send you a photo of the album sleeve from my copy - bought in 1981 - showing the playlist without the Torch on it? Or are you suggesting I have a unique copy of the record? Great it must be worth a fortune!

  • @mike1800S lol that told the cunt

  • This is a great song but it is not on Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret. At least not the original issues.

  • @mike1800S It's on the copy I have, I think its a probably a bonus track or something.

  • @Alexm799

"Correct",...........This track made was released in the USA on the flip side of the Tainted Love "45 vinyl" Wow,................days gone by but they were a blast!

  • @Alexm799 maybe its an American import but not on the original, however its still brill.

  • @mike1800S It was one of my fav moments on Non-Stop Exotic Video Show but god was I young

  • @mike1800S I have an original vinyl pressing with this on

  • @davejohnslade check out wikipedia, which for once is accurate, the original album had 10 tracks, none of which was the Torch. The album came out in late '81. Torch was not released untill the middle of 1982.

  • @mike1800S I guess when i purchased said album, when it was released, I was in a transitionary time lapse or of course Wikipedia could just be wrong ...................................again!!! Sorry to dissapoint

  • @davejohnslade only your lack of logic dissapoints Dave, think about it. I have an original copy without the Torch, so Wikipedia has to be correct. Unless you think the author and I have the only two copies containing a catastrophic recording error? Or maybe after release the record company deleted waht would have been one of the most popular tracks in an attempt to commit commercial suicide? Or maybe, just maybe, you have a later edition which capitalised on the Torch's success as a single!

  • @mike1800S or maybe you dont

  • i was 18 when this came out, absolutely fantastic song,i played it to death, still sounds strong

  • soft cell one of the most unique and amazing creations in the art world

    i just cant get enough

  • The chick creditied as signing is Cyndi Ecstasy, (sometimes spelt Cindy).

  • @BloodySpike10001 I'm sure I saw an interview with Marc Almond a few years back about her. Apparently she was named after the drug Ecstasy, as she was one of the New York crowd (or even the dealer) they hung out with caning loads of E in the early eighties.

  • bellissima.....ho ricordi splendidi dei soft cell...e Marc Almond ha una voce stupenda....grande

  • My sister had the '12 inch record' version of this, i always loved this one from 1982x

  • the woman who joins in sounds like the chick from The Human League... one of them...

do we know who the girl is?

  • great but its always has

  • Marc's best vocal turn and Mr. Ball's synth

    arsenal is a perfect accompaniment.

  • So long time ago!

  • this is such a good song honest lyrics and great music timeless.

  • What A Very Coool Song!!! 5*s Thankyou...Anita...

  • An unmissable album!!!

  • my favourite song ever !!!!!!!

  • Top tune.

  • I agree, this bad were underrated by a long way. Love this song, have got the 12 inch version on vinyl and that is fantastic too.

  • The best Almond & Ball Corp.'s SONG !!!!!!!

  • Soft Cell were often underrated compared to Human League and Depeche Mode but were unique in their own way. Superb.

  • It is a trumpet!!! The lyrics mentions a saxophone. What an error!

  • Er its only a song, blimey listen to the shit in the charts now, none of it makes sense

  • great 80's tune. The best Soft Cell track. Most people think its "Tainted Love" but thats far too over played. This is far too underplayed.

  • agree. of course also really fag but okee. cool 80eighties tunes with a cool emo voice

  • @toptonychick Agreed ... also underplayed are their other biggies like Bed Sitter, Say Hello Wave Goodbye and What ... all top 5 in the UK.

  • @toptonychick i agree this is their best song

  • @pussypop100 When I was very young, I use to think the female vocals were wasted (as she only sings a few lines). However, she features much more on the extended version. In a way, the 'normal' version is just an edit version of that.

  • @toptonychick I agree. Tainted Love is great but this song is unbelievably good! Brings back great memories of the 80s.

  • @toptonychick i like sex dwarf more tahn this. but this is still a great song

  • @toptonychick

i agree with you. Even though Taited Love was an amazing song, i prefer this one. Maybe because i didin t hear this one too much lol

  • @toptonychick

    I could not agree more!

  • @toptonychick Is track isn't better than one another if the other is more 'played' than the other track...If a track is the best, it stays the best for ever untill there is a new one that's better. Tainted Love is the best Soft Cell track, but that's a cover, so yeah, you could say this the the REAL best Soft Cell track!

  • @toptonychick I totally agree with you!

  • ITS A PUPPET!!!...............with a trumpet.

  • awesome sax...... such a blast from the past but still a great groove

  • Its a trumpet

  • One of the greatest songs ever!

  • I still have my complete boxed set of Soft Cell 12" vinyl discs - swapped them for a Genesis LP (Duke) - best thing I ever did!!

  • Of course what I mean is I swapped the Genesis LP and got the boxed set of vinyl...
