  • @LKEYON I will add though this issue is a state by state one(and no federal law exists uniformly protecting smokers from being fired/discriminated for their choice to smoke), though I wish a federal law existed. Least the state I live in has such a law in its books!

  • Oh, puh-leeze! Many bars ignore these ban, knowing if they didn't look the other way on a ban, they'd go out of business. Sounds like some of the businesses portrayed here should've had some balls to ban it on their own beforehand. Just google Smoke Choke Ohio, if you want example of how many have been hurt by OH's ban.

@LKEYON many states already have laws protecting smokers from being fired/discriminated, provided they obey an employer's rules restricting/prohibiting smoking on its property.

  • I may be mistaken here, but as owners of a private businesses - didn't they already have they right to make their establishment smoke free before the statewide ban took affect? Smokers are not a protected class of people.

  • Here in my working class neighborhood in Chicago, the fine kitties of bars (not family restaurants with kids) ignoring the ban are generously supported. "Freedom is not free"

  • I love Pier 500! Great food, great happy hour and great staff!

  • Way to REPRESENT "Erv's Mug" in beautiful Oak Creek, WI!!!

  • My husband and I own a Bar in Waukesha WI. Our business has improved, We love the smoking ban for many reason. We also made sure to accommodate or smoking guest too. Tired of every bar owners problem being blamed on the smoking ban~
