any subaru would mostly like perform the same as the Q7, as Audi and Subaru use the same sort of awd systems and anti slip logic. The reason the Acura beat the audi was that this test simulates a rare situation where only the wheels on side have traction. Audi designs there systems to send torque to all 4 wheels, acura's torque vectoring system is designed to send all the torque to the wheel on an axle that opposes the wheel with the least amount of resitances. Thats why it does better here....

In the majority of real off road situations, what you want is a system that will divide the torque evenly between all 4 wheels.

This test is not faked, its a company displaying one of the few off road conditions the acura is better.

Acura's traction control probably learned there is no grip on left, then proceed sending power to the right, and kept some power to left side so it kept up. The other 2 probably didn't have capability to send power to left or right side of car, just front and back.

The only reason why the Acura made it up was because everyone was too wimpy to step on the pedal. If you notice, the cars just stand still when the tires aren't moving. Although it does slip a bit, it seems the person just stopped revving when the needle hit 6000 RPM. The Acura however just kept chugging on even though the car did not seem to be moving, and then the other wheels gained traction,pushing it up the slope.

Ok I owned a 2001 and 2005 MDX there is no way that its better both of mine blew up everything with less than 100km or 60k miles I hate all that crap! It made it up because it is lighter and the tires are better maybe even ice tires?? I have put 600,000kms on my Isuzu and its still going but the Acura Mdx both in the dump! On top of that Acura stole Bmw's bosch traction system STAY AWAY FROM MDX

Attessa Snow mode Locks the 4wd 50/50 front/rear. But the Attessa system lacks the Active Rear side to side Power distribution which key here.

Actually this test is a very good test showing the cars traction in icy conditions, all it comes down to is the diff's, although if you really needed to you could always get locking diff's put on and your car would make it up that hill in this test no matter what.

Looking at this video, I'll have to say unfair advantage was given to the acura. This video was for one done by Temple of Vtec, a honda/acura enthusiast group. Two, the audi driver stopped on the way up the hill and let it slide back down....consistent but mid range power all the way up and it would've made it...

At first, I was like Quattro all the way, until I saw the Acura and realized how poorly compared these cars were. Either way, the Lexus would lose because it has a FWD based AWD. It's usually 100% FWD until either put in low gear or snow mode. When it detects slip, it changes to 60/40 I believe. Which still isn't great. The Subaru Forester would eat this test up though.

@DannyBoii87 yes and no, by grip i would presume you mean traction, and traction can be defined as the maximum applied force within given circumstances. traction comes equally from the composition of the tires, the composition of the road surface, and the pull of gravity (usually 9.8m/s2). until the traction control kicks in "grip" would be defined as F=Us*mg. but once traction kicks in you have a mixture of that and F=Uk*mg divided amongst the four wheels

anyone who says this is a 'lame test' must not have been watching the same video i just watched, because i saw 2 SUVs fail to get up a 20% grade hill, while the acura made it up the 30% grade with ease. people, put your biased egos aside and accept the point that the video proved - Acura's SH-AWD system is the best out there. Honda/Acura is all about superior technology and reliability in car's less expensive than the competition.

So on the 20% ramp, the audi stops and slides backwards with all four wheels locked because there is ice on the right side as well. But the Acura doesn't do this ramp, they do another ramp that is clear of ice... this is a bogus video

funny how some fans always come to their own conclusions...on a perfectly clean sheet of ice, the tires make no difference except if using spiked ones. its totally normal for the acura's SH-AWD to win, since its differentials can send torque left or right, where the torsen of the audi for example is pretty much useless if 1 wheel has zero grip. the others are based on their traction control to brake wheels, where acura's system just sends the torque to the proper wheel
