as cool as this looks. its incredibly dumb. But hey I guess its like shaolin monks doing horse stances with a sharp stick under their butthole and ceramic cups filled with water on their head, knees and in their palms... I still think its incredibly unsafe and stupid to do.
@jetle25 Thank you for your comment! We appreciate everyone's comments! We have the IndoFLO Cushion for those individuals who feel uncomfortable to use the roller. Check out our video titled, Indo Board with Gretchen Blieler ,or any of our videos featuring Certified Personal Trainer, Paul Hinicker. The IndoFLO Cushion is actually harder than the Roller because you use more musculature - but unlike the roller, the IndoFLO Cushion will not get away from you.
Wow! I don't think I could rationally convince myself to do some of these moves for fear of my own safety. I'll be happy to practice the board but some of these moves are just crazy.
@chicomilo We now have no fall versions of the Indo Board - the IndoFlo Cushion and the IndoFlo Gigante Cushion. The IndoFlo Cushion is actually harder than the Roller because it is 360 degrees of instability. It sits underneath your Indo Board and will not get away from you unlike the Roller. Check out our new video, Indo Board with Paul Hiniker and Eric Jackson. Hiniker is an amazing trainer who works with some of the top pro snowboarders and surfers using the Indo Board and Gigante Cushion.
very advanced moves. To those doing the lifts while on that indo board its only a matter of time with no safety lines or spotters before someones is hurt.
on paper this sounds like a great idea...then once I saw this video I crapped myself...I could only think about all the things that could go wrong and the terrible injuries that could take place for a beginner trying this
Yes, that looks difficult. No, I probably couldn't do it. Props to all of the folks in that video. Serious question though: did getting good on the indo board w/ the various lifts make them BETTER at that particular lift (ie. did the guy's clean go up from doing cleans on the board). If so, I really would like to hear about it. If not, then I'm sorry, but then they are just doing tricks. Cool tricks, fun tricks maybe. But unless it increases their performance then its not a serious tool.
@xfitw The point is not to improve your clean lift, the point is greater balance and coordination, which is something most athletes do find worthwhile...and doing *anything* on an indo board most definitely helps in those areas. Also I would say from my experience it DOES add a little bit of core and leg strength as well.
And anyway, looking at the big picture...a clean lift is not an end in itself either, it is also "just another trick."
Um...u idiots r missing spotters.Honestly i dont think it is smart to drop weights that almost hit ur foot like that.Other then that great skill. Now try it on something like a ball that can go in all directions
yo...that's amazing! guess the folks who posted negative feedback about this video just don't understand how difficult it is to stand on one of these things without any apparatus...heh let alone performing a WOD or eskrima drills on it...pRops...
we have one at the Crossfit facility that i'm a member of...any particular advice or methods y'all use to train clients to get to that level?? any help would be appreciated...thanks!
What affiliate is this? I can see the point on things like HSPU, but hang cleans on an indo board? Seems pretty dangerous even with light weight, I don't see the point of that one at all. Never heard of this type of training.
It looks like a really tough workout. I wouldn't do it everyday but maybe have an 'indoboard' day where the whole workout is done with it. I'd probably cut out half of the exercises you guys were doing just for liability sake, but the wall-balls with the board just look mean. :)
I was at this gym last week for a seminar. I've been training and competing with top athletes for many many years and can say the gyms workout and people are second to none. They safely taught me the indo board and I got addicted to it immediately! and bought one as some as I got back.
For all of these people whining, I feel they may just need a safety warning in the description box saying that these are advanced moves and a beginner should start out with basics.
It seems like a great workout. I would say pilates on steroids. The concentration needed to stay balanced and do the workout is pretty insane. My kids go to Crossfit Kids, and use the Indo Board in their training too. They are amazing! It has helped with my son's balance in surfing and my both of my daughter's gymnastics. Hopfully they will one day be able surpass what they are doing in this video. All those Negative Nancys are just jealous.
I would just like to point out that if people didnt take risks, whether it be in the gym, on a bike, skateboard, basketball court, whatever, there would be no evolution of any kind in sport. It takes athletes with the balls to try new things to keep pushing performance to new limits. If we all thought like you, we would never have seen Tony Hawk stick a 900 at the X Games, Michael Jordan dunk from the foul line, etc.
i have to disagree, i'm a physical therapist and i practice Crossfit and during downtime at the clinic or whenever i get a chance i'm always balancing or "playing" around on different small apparatus. I find the more people do this stuff the more able they will be to perform when it is at least expected, thus preventing injury.
Funny how because this isn't mainstream yet, all of these people come out of the woodwork to talk about how dangerous the things we do in this video are. I don't see any comments like this on Travis Pastrana's double backflip at the X-Games or the many other dangerous activities that pro extreme athletes partake in on a daily basis. Ever heard of levels beginner, intermediate and advanced? For the bashers - it's ok, we don't expect you to understand our dedication to elite human performance.
its looks like it would train a lot of stablizer muscles in the hips. I have to agree that is kind of unsafe doing powerclean. Soon you will videos on youtube of other people doing that and getting their skulls crack!!
If you really need me to point out the hazards in this video, you must be apart of this product in some way or another..
Anyways.. The board is great for core and if you do controlled weight lifting it can be great also, but throwing that bench bar up into the air is just asking for an accident to happen a horrible one at that..Let alone the many other dangerous parts of the video.
This "h5y" guy is quick to point out the hazards in the Indo Board video, but in his "Favorites" he has videos of kids wiping out on skateboards, cliff-jumping accidents, and guys popping high-speed wheelies on motorcycles.
Doesn't matter how many times you try to deny it...doing crazy shit like they were doing is DEFINATLY going to get a beginning consumer injured.
I can see standing on it, trying to balance...maybe a little bit of light weight training too...but c'mon, they went above and beyond what's NEAR safe.
o and those things you mentioned (kids wiping out on skateboards, cliff jumping, and motorcycle wheelies) are waaay safer than this, you know why... cause they all are "supposed" to wear helmets not this oh no its not a law to wear one with this now is it, i guess that makes it safe... =O
Circus? This is some tough exercises no lie!! Good work guys!

interesting concept for adding the agility and balance variable to CrossFit WO's. The Oly lifts make me nervous to watch though.

Well, you don't see Travis Pastrana trying to sell double backflip training because it's "good exercise" do you? Exactly...
Realistically this is nothing more than a toy, if you call this a true workout product that will produce "elite results" you are out of your mind.
The only thing you are going to get out of this is...law suit, law suit, law suit, from stupid people trying to swing around weights on these..

Indo board work doesn't translate to real sport. Doing circus tricks on an indo board just makes you good at doing circus tricks on an indo board.

a "bench bar" is what that guy threw when he fell off near the end, it holds and controls the weights when you want to do some lifting.
and by the way it isnt safe to throw around cause it aint a toy.
