There was a Universal Soldier 2 with other actors, but it was so bad that they decided to pretend it doesn't exist and treated Universal Soldier Returns (with Van Damme back) as 2. But he was acting like a healed, normal human. Now in this Universal Soldier Regeneration he suddenly has his mind damaged again and the end is just the worst ever...

I just saw this film tonight and loved it. I liked the first universal soldier but this one is a billion times better and totally blows the original out of the water in my opinion. It is darker and more violent and the fight scene between Lundgren and JCVD will leave your head spinning. You can tell a lot of time and effort went into this film and it has a strong atmosphere that is heavy with gloom to match the unmerciful war waging at Chernobyl.

wow, I was impressed. I thought "oh well here we go again another van damme film, low budget and half ass", but it wasn't. This film is really good. I'm a huge critic when it comes to films and I just gotta say that this is probably Van Damme's best film since Desert Heat in 1999. It's not his deepest acting but he is perfect in it fits together nicely. The only thing its missing is that american touch (big names, big budget, big promo) A MUST SEE!! The Expendables was a B film compared to this.

The universal soldier films arent your typical action film theyre hardcore action basically an easy storyline and lots of blood, violence, explosions and with whats coming out these days it will only appeal to certain ppl. This movie kicks ass. It's an unpretentious action b-movie that delivers more than most Hollywood flics.  It builds tension with amazing photography and really claustrophobic music. The UniSols are scary and soulless like Terminator except for Van Damme whose character-building provides an interesting background to the concept. This movie is worth seeing for the opening credits (insane photography and music) if nothing else. Can't wait for the sequel.

Well, this movie was much better than absolute trash Universal Soldier: The Return but much worse than original one. Also I prefer Made-For-TV films Universal Soldier 2: Brothers in Arms and Universal Soldier 3: Unfinished Business (both in 1998) with Matt Battaglia. Van Damme and Lundgren are too much old for such kind of films. Their "Best" was left in the 90's plus Lundgren's character looked useless

It has some of the most intense fighting scenes I ever seen, the timing and camera angles are just perfect and it is an exciting movie ! Worth watching !

The fighting here was intense, I agree. Wish JCVD was in more of the first half though, and that the film was more exciting (not just brutal, realistic) overall. Glad to see it wasn't the trash of the second, but still there's room for improvement.
