@Elitex22 lol, i was thinking the same thing. that reminds me of a class i had to take at UNC charlotte, nc. "film criticism", the prof. was a vietnam vet. in a wheel chair. for the next two or three years, i couldn't enjoy watching any movie. each of us had to write a script. me? write? it sounds easy. all man......i'm glad that is over now.
Ok...stupid question. He is just leaving out the fact that inbetween the red and blue cone are cones of all colors....right? I mean, when i look at a rainbow, i see all the colors not just red and blue.
@Vape4life Yeah he just didn't show all the colors there, all the colors that are supposed to be in between are there, our brains are not just making it up.
@MyVoicenotSilenced What has that got to do with anything? Does information you make you scared so you have to reaffirm your faith so you can know all is right with the world again.
I wish I had stuff like You Tube when I was younger - Better late than never. It's fantastic that you don't ever have to miss a lecture anymore. @MyVoicenotSilenced Well, I might as jump into this debate, seeing as it sound interesting. Now then, Point 1: How did all the ingredients in the world come to be? By fusion reactions in the last hours of giant stars. These fusion reactions create the elements silicon, sulfur, chlorine, argon, sodium, potassium, calcium, scandium, titanium and iron peak elements: vanadium, chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, and nickel. And finally the isotope Iron-56, which is infusible. And the star blows up...
I had my 13 year old daughter watch this. She came away with a smile and a lot of new information to research for her science project about rainbows. Plus.. it was just a fun lecture class intro. LOVED it!
go live in a cave without any technology. One thing is that you don't like it, and that would be your personal opinion... But there is smart people with understanding of physics and maths that have made your life as comfortable as it is today, so sitting on your computer (made by who?) calling it rubbish is...rubbish...
@MyVoicenotSilenced The ingredients? this is not a soup recipe, I'm not telling you that god doesn't exists, but what I'm trying to say is that is he really exists he is not useful, science has excluded god's participation on any sense so why do you have to use it to explain things that you don't understand?
@MyVoicenotSilenced Everything on this world and even stars, galaxies and space has a explanation all they came from the Big Bang and this one came from the natural interaction of physical laws...
My point is if you don't know the answer that doesn't mean that such question can only be answered with god, if you're ignorant and want to see realy how stuff works without the need of a god, please google your questions.
Your knowledge adds, your knowledge does not subtract. Feynman quote about the flower and the scientist versus the artist, if you didn't pick up on it. I'm sure he meant it that way. You can look it up. Good fun lecture. Thanks.

I was so curious about how Prof Walter Lewin made those dotted lines. One answer i found convincing was that he had a special chalk holder. I could not find a chalk holder with such capabilities on the market but since he works at MIT I was cure that some one over the years could have made one. After some time I finally found some one who knew the answer and I just confirmed it. Hold the chalk at an abuse angle from board and push the chalk so that it skids along.

I think its got to do with the sequence between "sign" , "white part" and "Black part".
Example: For red : after "black" comes "the Sign" and then comes "White"(In Time).(Notice the sign and colors also has differant time-lengths.)
So when turning clockwise we get red in the middle of the board , but if we turn anti-clockwise we get the sequence for Red in the outherside.
Sorry if any of the use Units are wrong,... I'm only starting in learning.

The reason someone should spend the time to learn the physics of a rainbow is if it is needed for practical reasons:
1) A student that needs grades.
2) You want to be (or you are) professionally involved in physics.
From any other perspective rainbow knowledge is a waste. But I guess it is better than getting drunk or watching stupid movie.
I rather have sex than listen to the lecture.
A lot of prior knowledge is needed to explain rainbows.

One year ago it was possible to upload that long videos. But know it is not possible anymore. If you look, you will find that this video is uploaded one year ago.

You can upload much longer videos if you have a special account. I think it's a "director" account, which you pay for.
