  • You have to consider context for evaluation. In the context of sport kata, this is an excellent presentation. At such a young age, there is nothing wrong with this. He has the rest of his life to develop traditional kata if that interests him.

  • I´m not agree with you.. he has such a good technique and athleticism that´s why he won and also it´s one of the best kata performers in his division in America :D

  • Guys - it's sport kata - if you try to measure it against traditional concepts you will only frustrate yourself. :) Just enjoy and appreciate it for what it is...

  • I would have to agree with the initial post. Very nice performance. I dislike the long pauses and yes, there were technical errors, but I was glad to spend the time I spent viewing it.

  • Hey Dave, are you trying to play with my feeble mind with this one? Obviously the kid is very athletic but I see a lot of technical errors in the kata.

  • @NewEnglandBudo I'm pretty sure this is my friend's student from Colombia - that's why I recorded it. It's sport kata, so I wouldn't expect too much - but well executed for what it is I think...
