  • Something very special about this

  • Most of this pampering on your face is unnecessary in the real world. In my case when I shave with a straight razor I wet the beard with warm water to soften it, lather up with Tabac shaving soap, two passes on the face, rinse with cold water, dry face and apply my homemade bay rum aftershave, and I'm good to go. It's that simple just like your grandfather did years ago. I believe this Barber is much better than the other Barber that you went to in your other video.

  • English isn't my native language and it's a bit hard to understand most words with the echo of the room. (You're other videos are perfectly fine.)

Could you maybe add subtitles as annotations? I feel like I'm missing half of information.

  • @Yora21 I will try.

  • @mantic59 you didn't try

  • why is part one of this vid now private?

  • @1Ezk i re-edited part 1 to improve its audio. Check my channel page for the link.

  • @mantic59 cool thx

  • 1:02 immediate nose orgasm, and light happy bounces happening on the chair as soon as the iced-alchhol-soaked towel wrapped on his face. It's like realizing your face is suddenly a vagina.

  • so did he tell us not to apply a moisturizer in the daytime? ..I live in California and need a moisturizer with SPF for obvious reasons, so..lol

  • SRV !

  • how can I contact you for questions? We are preparing to start straight razor shaves in our barber shop

  • What kind of moisturizer did he recommend using before bed?

  • Awesome. If only a HOT woman knew the ins & outs of shaving a man's (not a mangina-metro's) face - that would make the experience a 10+! Not to say this guy wasn't a pro, because he certainly was.

Nice job Mantic, looks pretty-damn relaxing ;)

  • Mantic, while alcohol is a good antiseptic, wouldn't it dry the face out terribly?

  • idk the guy does give some good pointers on skin care advice for shaving and after the shave... but some of the stuff he said was a bit off basis

  • Mantic- what type of shave cream is he using? Out of a Shaveking machine dispenser? Also, is he spraying T&H cologne into the balm? And the type of a/s balm?

    thanks!

  • @greeterboy as I recall it was T&H ultimate out of the shaveking and trafalgar a/s.

  • the barber shop is the only place i tolerate being touched by a man :D

  • were you nervous with that collins commander rocking up and down like that? yet another great video, thanks for sharing!

  • @JohnTheBarberMansi not at all, actually the experience was very relaxing.

  • This is cool-I"ve been using a cutthroat for years and this guy knows his stuff!!!

  • you sir have a new subscriber

  • Dang, this is awesome, blasting CCR, getting a primo cutthroat shave from a pro . . . Im doing this the next time Im in vegas!

  • this master barber DEFINATELY knows whats up with shaving !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Pores opening and closing is a common myth, your pores do not open and close. They can swell and contract a little but they do not physically close. Hot water will soften the sebum and dead skin cells that clog the pores and cold water will help tighten your skin and actually begin to harden your "once cooled" sebum that gives the "pore closing" effect. Just something to keep in mind.

  • @aaronshaneburns i agree with you 100

  • The one thing you always recognize when you are watching these videos is how smoothly the blade moves over the skin during the shaving motions.

I was never able to reproduce that, despite a thorough preparation and all the right tools.

I guess my hair is just too thick und too resistant to be prepped enough to allow the blade to cut it so smoothly.

  • Hi Mantic

I was wondering how close disposable straight razor shave was compared to a DE razor shave and if the same results could be achieved with a DE razor

    Cheers

  • i notice the barber uses his hands to describe what he is sayin its funny im not saying its a bad thing

  • i dont like it.

  • how much did that shave cost?

  • @shrive22 he said he was at The Mirage in Las Vegas, which means its pricy (i use to live in Vegas) looking at the website for the barber shop/salon at the mirage they say the traditional wet shave is $65. this guy is from Trufitt & Hill, who are considered the best. so it probably cost a little more plus the tip. this was most likely close to $100. i had a shave at a barber shop close to my home in florida, it was $20, but not a great one. not many shops do shaves.

  • i just checked it out an executive shave is 120

  • yes id like to know this aswell since i live in las vegas myself

  • @kherux thanks for agreeing with me bro

  • after watching the 2 videos i went into the bathroom and tried to shave just like this barber did - nice full lather, soaking my face with hot wet rag, doing a second shave (very lightly) and when i was done WOW! smooooooth like a babys behind! only regret is didnt have any aftershave lotion, time to hit the store lol.

  • @Doug19752533 try Art of Shavings Sandlewood. Stay away from the drugstore stuff.

  • pores dont close

  • hehe wheni initially wash my face with hot water, i have to increase the temperature bit by bit until it's hot. however if i just soak a small towel in the hot water that feels fine, so i do that quite often. i never considered using a COLD towel however... i'll give it a try tonight :)

  • 1:35 Stevie Ray Vaughn Rocks! Thanks for yet another great video, Mantic! And thanks for the help on Twitter.

  • Thanks, Mantic! Really loved these videos :)

  • this was great the audio could have been clearer but i know how hard it is in a room like that with the echo and all. but still very informative

  • How many towls I lost count?

  • Sorry, I meant to click 5 stars instead of 2... I really like your videos, you converted me to using shaving soaps and brushes. still want to make the transition to safety razor, or possibly even open single blade.

  • once in life? more like once a month. not rare at all theres lots of barber shops that will give you a great traditional shave.

  • The few barbers I saw around here, I will never let them touch my face.

And I use a straight razor myself.

  • I think you're right. At least once in your life you need to get shaved by a professional. Unfortunately, they are really rare these days. I still have to try out a turkish barber around the corner where I live, and I'm planning to visit Taylor of Old Bond Street in London this year. We'll see.

  • A voluble barber, that one.

  • This looks really relaxing. I bet you could lie there all day.

  • Great videos!

  • Excellent. I didn't quite catch all the details but I think he was mainly saying to take more time and care on the cool down part.
