  • it's the power of money... better understand it...

  • i have a pentium 4 computer from 2001 or 2002 and it surfs the net well enough for me..

have you ever noticed how quickly electronics break these days? and how often we simply trash new stuff? these items sometimes have less than 3 months of usage!

  • Great work!

  • You are the best

  • Moreover.... I'm a tech dumpster diver. I can assure you that about 2005 era computers are more than sufficient for the average worker. Basic tasks are easily covered by elder machines given enough RAM.

Chip manufacturers do know this, which explains the success of the Atom line from Intel and AMD is trying to get into that market too with their Neo platform. Smaller chips (less transistors), but more power efficient because of their smaller size.

  • Moores law doesn't say that processor speeds would double processor speed. It says that transistor density would double every 18 months. This means that the same processor could be made using less space and thus you could make more on one wafer. Current processors do illustratie this quite well. You don't have a 5GHz processor in your desktop because those speeds don't work well. You get two 2.5GHz "Cores" instead. More transistors/functionality on the same space.

  • stop putting teasers and just put the whole thing already

  • @Khadije12 haha. fair enough. one week and counting!

  • haha blip

  • I have to used items until they're nearly lifeless. It's more out of the "I have no money" thing rather than "I don't need a new, shiny, freakishly attractive electronic." I'm sad that I so want to have the new thing they try to sell.

  • I can't wait for that babbling, staring asshole "howtheworldworks" to make an incoherent video "refuting" the evidence in the video. haha

  • @FailBlob Hahaha, I was just thinking that while watching!!! <3

  • the power of the consumer is this department has weakened because they have to the power to out date their products, like microsoft (im not accusing them of anything just an example cus they update windows about every other year)

  • i hate re uploads. just trying to get more and more money out of us

  • How is this any less filled with ignorance than the last video you posted?

Technological advancement is a good thing, regardless of your opinion of what you, a technologically ignorant person, deem to be a technological lifecycle.

  • @gorgonzolaaa

Technological life-cycle isn't a term she made up. Any engineering sustainability team (or even classroom) can be able to assess the life cycle of any product. I think the purpose of the video is to reevaluate what is absolutely necessary

  • Fascinating stuff. All power (tee hee) to you! :)

  • reupload? i already saw this

  • Talking heads, for example: Glenn Beck, are angry that videos like "The Story of Stuff" are shown in schools. They scream about indoctiration children, while pushing for school prayer and the teaching of creationism.

  • @RadarKat73080 This IS indoctrination. Every person has a choice as to whether they decide to upgrade a computer. No one forces you to upgrade. You can choose to remain with yesterday's technology, or you can advance, allowing you to do things like, ironically, making and viewing trash videos like this one. But hey, if you're content with playing Frogger, then a PS/2 is perfect for you.

  • @gorgonzolaaa And if you enjoy being a corporate sheep, being fleeced every year, that's your choice.

  • @RadarKat73080 Go for open source!!! Linux is awesome

  • HowTheWorldWorks is already foaming at the mouth.

  • ARRRRRG

  • when is this coming out?

  • cant wait !

  • woot woottt
