  • Pretty cool. I've written a few songs. I can only seem to write songs in the blues, though. I'm afraid otherwise it will sound "poppish" like today's bands. Here's a cool chord progression to try out (wrote it meself) (Swing it): I (for 1 measure), IV (half a measure), V (last half of the measure) (rinse, lather, repeat). It's best played as power chords swinging between the fifth and sixth notes, emphasizing the second and fourth beats. It's really fun to solo to :)

    Peace

  • How did I miss this? This is cool.

  • thank ya much!

  • Cool Vid

    I enjoyed it

    Thanks for the post

  • You're a guitarist and a drummer? Time for an old joke...

A drummer is tired of people saying that drummers are stupid so decides to learn guitar. After many years of study and practice he considers himself a competent guitarist and confidently walks into the shop.

Drummer: I'd like a Fender Stratocaster.

    Salesperson: You're a drummer, aren't you?

Drummer: Yes, how did you know?

    Salesperson: This is a McDonalds.

  • lol

I think it's an overstatement to call me a "drummer".

    ;P

  • are you doing lead drums and bass? That is awesome and takes great talent syncing it all together. It has a good sound

  • The guitar reminds me of REM

  • That was an inspired way to do an otherwise throwaway song.

  • This reminds me a bit of Granddaddy for some reason.

  • The drum is a bit off rhythm. It kinda made me twitch. I applaud your effort, though!

  • if I keep at it, I can't get any worse, right...?

    ;D

  • Hopefully!

You know what they say; if at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

    ;3

  • if you get a good vocalist, you would have a pretty sick band. real rock & roll is hard to come by these days.

  • I must ask what bass you're working with. You made a few errors, but it sounded great for a basic riff. I loved some of fills you had with it.

  • >"I must ask what bass you're working with."

Ibanez something-or-other, I don't know for sure. I got it used from a friend for $100 while I was in the army... probably damn-near ten years ago now.

    >"You made a few errors, but it sounded great for a basic riff. I loved some of fills you had with it. "

Thanks much, and yes indeed, this was far from perfect.

What I really wanted to do was write and record something FAST, from there it became this pseudo-live thing, warts and all.

    :D

  • I saw the kitty!

  • I like this, be your own band. :)

  • OMFG that sucked, and yes i could do better on every intrument you SUCK

  • "yes i could do better on every intrument"

Video responses are automatically approved. Feel free to back up your claim.

Until you do, I can't distinguish you from every other troll.

  • bonus points if your composition goes from non-existent to recorded in 4 hours or less, like this one did.

    ;P

  • pop...click.....pop pop click...pop...click...pop pop click with missed notes everywhere hmmm yeah i will try (^.o)

  • Awesome sound!

  • May I ask who writes the music?

  • me, baby!

  • Oh ok. nice job then.

  • Well played!

  • thanks, Tony!

  • Very nice! What model drum set is that?

  • Roland HD-1

  • RabidApe the human metronome...

  • Haha awesome stuff. Very fun.

But have more fun while recording, you look bored!

  • It's probably take 42!

    Recording can be tedious...

  • Are you serious... did you even watch the video?

  • It's strange not seeing you smile...although you must be having fun.

Yeah that comes out...so just have fun.

  • "It's strange not seeing you smile...although you must be having fun."

    Very much so!

    That's my "focused" look.....

    ;D

  • I think you need to include a little more Wankery.

  • cool

  • Who's wanking?

  • awesome man.. this is the kind of thing that i do... except i dont have a drum set :(

  • Nice song, sounds like old rock. Much better than the crap they play today...

  • Awesome track! pwnd!!!!

  • RabidApe, I love ur kitty!! So cute!

  • Pretty good, I say. Some things were a little off here and there but pretty good. Props for using creative commons, though. I think more people should because it really is a fair way to get your name out there.

  • >"Pretty good, I say. Some things were a little off here and there but pretty good. "

Thanks much! This was "pseudo-live", and went from non-existent to final performance in a matter of hours, so I totally agree with you.

    >"Props for using creative commons, though. I think more people should because it really is a fair way to get your name out there. "

Indeed! It's one of those things that's a no-brainer for me. It is simultaneously "selfish" and "altruistic".

    ;D

  • Which instrument do you think you are the best at?

  • I'm probably most comfortable as a "rhythm guitarist".

I've got a lot of room to grow as far as melody/scales are concerned.

It's not too hard for me to come up with chord sequences, though I still have a lot to learn about seventh chords and beyond...

My keyboarding usually boils down to pounding on chords, too....

Same w/my drumming. I think I used just about all my tricks in this song...

My bass playing is also very basic. Sometimes I feel REALLY good about it, but not always.

    ;D

  • Pick up a few jazz books and force yourself to play, man. I've been in a school jazz band for about 2 months and ever since I've joined I've learned about 30243894023 times more than I ever thought I'd know about chords, scales, etc. Once you get the hang of it, it's way easier than it looks.

  • Three of the bandmembers look very alike...

Why are they not playing together in the one room?

  • "Why are they not playing together in the one room? "

Funny you should mention that.... :P

I think that will be addressed in the next one of these I do....

    hehehehehee....

  • but TheAmazingAtheist does a LOT of his videos about venomfangx. So there are people that want him to stay so they can keep pwning him.

  • yup.

    I'm kinda ambivalent.

If he's gone - great, no more disinformation.

If he comes back - great, we have a punching bag again.

  • The lead guitar felt kinda out of place for the most part. The rest was good though.

  • lol

fair enough - I kinda put him on the spot! For what it's worth, he didn't "practice" really at all, I just told him what key it was in....

    XD

  • Great Music

But is it possible that you got an error with the drums around 1:38?

  • it is damn near certain!

I've still got a lot of practicing to do. You should have seen the three or four takes before this one!

  • awesome, awesome, awesome!

  • thanks, Heather!!!

  • Venomfangx's original account is back. it has 27,000 subs just like it had before.

  • yup, with quite a lulzy channel description.

  • No one cares

  • lol yup

  • of course no one cares about that fundie fucktard.

but it does matter to the pwners because he is the main target for pwnage.

  • love it

    5 stars and favorite

  • muchos gracias!

  • Very nice!

    5 Stars and my favourite!

I would love to hear more of this!

  • "I would love to hear more of this!"

You can increase the likelihood/frequency of more of these by clickin' on that thar paypal link in the description....

    ;D

  • I just baught it!

    ;-)

  • BRILLIANT!!!

I think (NO PROMISES [YET]) I might be able to pump out a song (maybe instrumental) every other week. (Perhaps more...)

  • "I might be able to pump out a song (maybe instrumental) every other week. (Perhaps more...)"

    That would be absolutely great!!

  • it reminds me of something by the band "cake". do you listen to them/ know who i'm talking about?

  • indeed!

    too bad I can't play a trumpet.....

    :P

  • OMFG RABID I WANT UR DRUM SET!!

  • heheheheh!

    thanks!

it was written and recorded on probably 4 hours or so.

    Keep it up man!

  • I can live with crawesome!!!!!!

    thanks!

  • Multi-talented!

  • I'm a performer at heart...

    :D

  • I'll be sure to buy 3 or 4 after I make some tips and put them in the bank tomorrow, as of right now I'm one broke SOB.

  • WINRAR

  • well, as a drummer, I only caught a few mistakes, but overall it was a nice effort.

  • as a non-drummer, I am surprised you only said "a few"....

    ;D

I'm still a rookie, and this was cobbled together rather quickly.

    Muchos gracias!

  • \w/ \w/

  • Reminds me of the band rooms I spent so many hours in just hanging out with friends experimenting and writing. Ahh, good old high school memories.

  • lol!

  • awesome! Downloading now =]

  • excellent!

  • Kewl jam!

  • thank you much!

  • Right on!! KInda sounds like The Hip or The

Stones. ....or maybe Crazy Horse. I find many

Americans I talk to never heard of the

    Tragically Hip.....which is kinda tragic!

    Anyway......Cool! Didn't know you were a

  • alright!

  • You bet it's alright, it's damn near splendid! :)

  • hehehehe!

  • 3 in 1 + 1 = Rock Band (without song)?

Music is always great so thanks for the addition, though I prefer "harder" stuff. ;-)

  • no prob!

  • Two questions:

Those drums look neat. What brand are they ?

I wonder if one could make such drums with a piezo-electric transducer.

And software. What kind do you use for recording the songs ?

  • Roland HD-1

    perhaps

I record music in Cubase SE, but I also recorded video of each performance. Syncing it up was kinda a bitch....

  • you should have a lyrics contest to see who can add lyrics to this song. Sounds awesome man

  • hmmmmm.....

  • Sounds a little like Pavement.

What's the name of the drums?

  • Roland HD-1

  • This is actually pretty good. Nice job

  • much thanks!

  • good job man =D

  • thanks!

  • you need to embrace your inner brotha' on the drums, otherwise loving it!:D

  • Three RabidApes?! May the Lord have mercy on us all.
