@hummermadness I don't know if it's possible to contact them directly or not, but you used to be able to sign up for the off-road training course through your Hummer dealer. Now that they're gone, I don't know how to do it. I would probably start by contacting them directly. The facility should still be operating, because soldiers were sent there to learn to get the most out of their Hummvees.
@firechasers thanks its not my h1 its a friends we whet out before i bought a h3 but i put the h3 throw some rought stuff and it keeps up stock with my yjeep yj on 35s love both just depends on what mood im in lol if i feel like breaking it that day i take jeep , cost lest to repair lol
@Retrospec01 I have a 2008 Hummer H3 and I love it. The ride is very smooth on and off road. I took my H3 to the badlands and it did awesome so no worries about what it can do :)
It's not an open course. It was created to conduct training for the military in the use of the Humvee. With the advent of civilian Hummers, they used it for the dealership-offered off-road training (approx. $3000 for the course I think). The Hummer Club goes there every year, but it was opened to the Michiana Jeepers as a fund raiser for this event. There were a variety of vehicles there, but most were Jeeps or Hummers.
Since I was there in 1997, they nearly lost/sold a third of the terrain with all these nice trails on it. In 97 there were no H2 and H3, only the big mean beast!
It's fantastic. Although it doesn't feel like it when you're driving, it is really quite compact. They put quite a bit of effort into creating the trails they want. They're all interlaced and have a different difficulty rating depending on the vehicle/skill level it was designed for. It is first class to be sure. They do a great job.
This is the AM General Hummer Off-Road Course and is not open to the general public. In the past, it was used for Hummer Driving School (very expensive), for training our soldiers how to get the most out of their vehicles and the Hummer Club would do an annual event there. I think this was the first event of its type, and AM General was very generous to allow the use of their facility as well as staff to assist with this charity event. Invitations are difficult to come by.
Nope -- they're WAY too expensive. This was a fundraiser put on by the Michiana Jeepers. Illiana Hummers were also invited. We got our invite because one of the guys from Hummer is friends with the guy who sold me my H3 (the yellow Jeep in the video). We couldn't pass up the opportunity to go without spending $350 to do it (Hummer Club event). It was a blast -- great course!
You seemed to be getting around just fine from where we were. My wife wanted to drive in the afternoon. She had very little previous experience, so we worked together to get her through the course. That's why we didn't get video of the more challenging obstacles -- I was giving her my undivided attention to boost her confidence.
i would love to know how to run the course since u say its not a open course and it $3000 so were do i go to pay the $3000 to run the course

Just a few questions:
Are the hummers in the video stock or modified (performance wise)?
How long did the expedition last?
Was it fun?
Did you drive a Hummer? If so how is the handling (on road and off). If not, how is the ride (comfortable, rough)(on road and off)?
*I'm convincing my parents to trade in their ML320 for a new SUV and I want to keep my options open.*

I can't believe you didn't come. Hopefully they'll do this again and we could get another invitation. If so, you'll have to make sure to come.
See you at the Grayling pre-run!
