Just for the record, the retail price has been dropped to $995,they announced that on Facebook.definitely more affordable.and the street price should be around $850,i will definitely look at one when they come out.
I liked that 1892 Alaskan take-down rifle! $1100 MSRP so maybe $900+ retail. I don't know if it would be worth it vs. a Marlin 1894 cowboy in .45Colt though. I don't need to fit it in a bush plane so take-down capabilities are just a bonus. Still what looks to be an awesome rifle. Where is it made? & do you know how many rounds it holds?
I was interested in the 1887's after watching the video and just wanted to find more information, but nothin. . . Has there been any other news or even anything about these?? Because im starting to feel bummed!
I really like the take down the body seems so today with a past feel the company is real smart taking old loved designs and modern daying them for todays shooter price tag is a little high
That takedown alaskan could come in very handy inside a bug-out bag, I would like to see the twist rate of the rifleing so a man could use the +p+ ammo from buffalo bore, and keep to a very useful cartridge. Team that lever action with a ruger redhawk .44 mag and you have a potent tandem shooting a single calber.
sure, the cost has nothing to do with the cost of tooling up, buying initial runs of a new product, initial import regulation, shipping, marketing, etc..
or maybe the 1%ers who run Taylor are just fat cats burring $100 bills to light cuban cigars on their yachts they buy from their huge profits from the over priced shotguns they are forcing us all to buy...
LOL, very true about start up production costs, etc. "Retail", I assume, is suggested retail and should be somewhat lower than what the customer will find in the store.
I was pricing some lever 12-gauges not too long ago and couldn't find too many.. the only one I saw much of was like a modified 1887 clone, with a leather wrap around the lever.
Can't remember who actually produced it.. It may have been Winchester.
cowboy zombie gun, have a nive lever action rifle in the same caliber as a revolver and were good too go. im sure we can add a raid for a scope and a light.
I'm glad that they themselves acknowledged that $1,300 was way too high and they're trying to bring it down. I'd pay a bit more to have a pre-cut Winchester clone, but at that price I could just buy a norinco and chop it myself.
$1300 short barrel lever action shotgun or a Berretta or Benelli semi auto shotgun? HAHAHA!!! You are Taylor & Co. not Colt ! Some of the items at SHOT are just so overpriced it makes it hard to really get excited over them, the pricing kicks me in the nads.
@GunWebsites Initial offerings? Its a shotgun design from the 1890s....let me guess they spent lots of money on research and development? Chopping the full stock to a pistol grip and cutting down the barrel required new CNC machines? Some designs I understand the high intial cost, new companies just starting up,new gas piston rifle designs, race guns, bullpup shotguns but even the company rep admits the cost is high.
AH i wanted that lever action Shotgun, till she said the price :(. Guess that goes on the "Obama is out and my job is better" list. Really liked the take down gun, neat twist(no pone) on modern lever actions.
The 1887 would have to stay in blued steel and wood, but the Takedown model would be nice in both styles. However, I'm still waiting for the rebirth of an 1895 levergun in .405 Win, hehe
I need one of those shotguns I've wanted one ever since I saw terminator 2, but at $1300 that just makes me sad
