see, this to me is more fascinating and compelling than any overblown CGI spectacle that Hollywood insists will entertain me and give me enjoyment this summer. Human beings are so interesting. Life is everything. We look at all the lonely people. We look at ourselves.
@carparkgangster It's curious how first impressions are misleading. I first thought he was a bit angry about the camera but then he turned out to be this very gentle man :)
i saw that and i was thinking.....how i m in my lift when i go down and up....i m living at 10 floor....and i said wow....i never thinked about all the time i talk only with who i know from the buliding...i become sad and think in 2011 people dont have time to talk with other from they area...we are closed inside us and very limited when is about other and not US
I was coming home from school. There was an old woman holding on to the fence. I ignored her and was about to walk past until I hear her say 'excuse me' I went over and she asked me how to get to the main road. I told her. I smiled and said goodbye, But i saw she was in pain and asked if she needed help. 'no thankyou dear, Just my arthritis. Family help me. well, they havn't visited in years but.. one day they'll come' So we parted and very quitely behind me i heard 'Thankyou for noticing to me'.
if we can all treat eachother with kindness and empathy, and become less materialistic then we may reach a point where happiness is true. your life can be changed by this sort of film, and go and watch all the bill hicks and george carlin footage and you may change as a person, you may feel enlightened and new sensations in the way you feel and think as you walk down the street and greet people. you dont need much money. this was a beautiful film. peace and love
A beautiful movie. I shed a few tears when Peter, who previously had refused Marc to stay in the elevator, told him his best childhood memory. I don't know why, it was such a simple thing. A "straight from the heart, not the wallet" kind of beauty.

Doing my MA thesis on Isaacs. Truly engaging and completely fulfilling. The man is an absolute genius. A true insight into human condition. Amazing to think people become so trustworthy of a stranger with a camera.
I would love to see you guys make a film out of this . I would pay a lot , A LOT of money to see it . I always wanted to make such things , take opinions out of people , it is really fantastic to see the reactions on people and human behavior evolve trust in some total stranger .
Beautiful. Thank you Marc, and your team as well, for their contributions that only heighten the experience. That was wonderful and I hope I get to see more of your work.
The african man, with the deep voice. He pulverizes my heart. I know that what i am about to say is very cliché. But he makes me realize, that no matter how much i complain about my life, and no matter how much i talk about myself hating my parents, i'm actually very, very lucky to have what i have, and that i should cherish every aspect of it and just shut the hell up. And to the director, thank you for portraying this side of us we rarely show
Words escape me, truly did not expect this level of depth. So damn poignant and revealing. Sometimes the questions were scathing, other times so heartbreaking. True when the poster below me said concrete and steet don't mix with flesh and emotion.
Judging from the crap I just watched after this, this short is by FAR and AWAY the BEST of the lot! This is fantastic, whereas the others are variously amateurish and mediocre.
@TwelveLabours Yeah, I really liked the food parts. In a lot of cultures the sharing of food (like breaking bread) is a symbol of comradeship and welcoming.
@FuzzySnuckums It takes 25 minuets out of your life to step back, and look at humans interact with each other, regardless of religion, culture, or of age. It's truly moving because you never really take a step back and look at everything, you really get a sense of emotion, and feeling when you watch it, or at least I do.
I love the look on Peter's face (21:29) when he is asked to describe his best memory from his childhood, and the way he answers it without any hesitation.
I thought this was absolutely brilliant! It has a special artistic value to it. It gains my curiosity about the many people that come and go in elevators everyday living different, special, and unique lives.
@mjoseff Alright. I alway understood something like "I dreamed, I beat you!" and I thought she dreamed about beating him up or something xD. Thanks for telling me was she really said :)
Wow, this film is incredible. Its a great insight into human nature when a camera is put infront of them involuntary. Some of their stories are quite moving.
