  • I don't know how or why, but this video changed my life.

  • I hope, I pray that the comments about the African man's suicide are untrue!

  • This is such an interesting film, another one would be amazing too, perhaps a year on? The man who's parents died made me cry, so moving, this was an incredible insight.

  • @AGirlNamedLydia Thank you, I never noticed that before.

  • LG GS101

  • I really love the concept of this video. People are caught at their most open and honest moments. Thanks.

  • 15:53 Lilly looks like the joker

  • I'm just standing here, with my camera

  • see, this to me is more fascinating and compelling than any overblown CGI spectacle that Hollywood insists will entertain me and give me enjoyment this summer. Human beings are so interesting. Life is everything. We look at all the lonely people. We look at ourselves.

  • What a wonderful film. Thank you. Extremely poignant and very moving and very sad about the young man whose parents died.

I love the old Jewish lady and I love the Bengali guy with the food :)

  • Ok now its an advert for a game

  • This isn't the right video.I keep getting some pop singer and not the clip "lift"

  • The asian man who keeps giving food is my DAD :) thank you everyone who said great things about him my family really appreciates it.

  • @carparkgangster It's curious how first impressions are misleading. I first thought he was a bit angry about the camera but then he turned out to be this very gentle man :)

  • @carparkgangster your dad is a legend!

  • @carparkgangster The soft-spoken gentleman, whose parents died...? His story made me cry. Is he as nice as he seems? I just want to give him a hug.

  • Beautiful work. I didn't want it to end.

  • @carparkgangster lol at your youtube name ... wonder what Dad thinks of that ;-)

  • Best video.

  • amazing.

  • cool, entranced me, better than tv, i like frilly lily and the old boy with the lovely hands...xxx

  • Reminds me of the lift at my grand dads old flat in London.

  • i saw that and i was thinking.....how i m in my lift when i go down and up....i m living at 10 floor....and i said wow....i never thinked about all the time i talk only with who i know from the buliding...i become sad and think in 2011 people dont have time to talk with other from they area...we are closed inside us and very limited when is about other and not US

  • creepy drunk guy.

  • I was coming home from school. There was an old woman holding on to the fence. I ignored her and was about to walk past until I hear her say 'excuse me' I went over and she asked me how to get to the main road. I told her. I smiled and said goodbye, But i saw she was in pain and asked if she needed help. 'no thankyou dear, Just my arthritis. Family help me. well, they havn't visited in years but.. one day they'll come' So we parted and very quitely behind me i heard 'Thankyou for noticing to me'.

  • @HIcommentBYE ah.. i live in a town, but used to live in london in my early twenties, everyone must visit the country near to where they live...

  • @HIcommentBYE Loneliness is a dangerous thing

  • she looks like harry partty at 11:36

  • 1:10 she looks like the Joker

  • 1:10 i would slap the shit out of her

  • No more Englishman in England !?

  • @StariSloven Not in most of London , it's called 'white flight'...

  • RIP to that poor man (the one whose parents died) =(

  • hahaha!! that Lilly is really something

  • I love it

  • if we can all treat eachother with kindness and empathy, and become less materialistic then we may reach a point where happiness is true. your life can be changed by this sort of film, and go and watch all the bill hicks and george carlin footage and you may change as a person, you may feel enlightened and new sensations in the way you feel and think as you walk down the street and greet people. you dont need much money. this was a beautiful film. peace and love

  • A beautiful movie. I shed a few tears when Peter, who previously had refused Marc to stay in the elevator, told him his best childhood memory. I don't know why, it was such a simple thing. A "straight from the heart, not the wallet" kind of beauty.

  • This is an Excellent vid. So cool and real. What a wonderful glimpse of heaven...a bit.

  • Very Chekhovian or Munro. Beautiful.

  • Banana XD

  • what a shit place to live

  • Doing my MA thesis on Isaacs. Truly engaging and completely fulfilling. The man is an absolute genius. A true insight into human condition. Amazing to think people become so trustworthy of a stranger with a camera.

  • I would love to see you guys make a film out of this . I would pay a lot , A LOT of money to see it . I always wanted to make such things , take opinions out of people , it is really fantastic to see the reactions on people and human behavior evolve trust in some total stranger .

  • Beautiful. Thank you Marc, and your team as well, for their contributions that only heighten the experience. That was wonderful and I hope I get to see more of your work.

  • The african man, with the deep voice. He pulverizes my heart. I know that what i am about to say is very cliché. But he makes me realize, that no matter how much i complain about my life, and no matter how much i talk about myself hating my parents, i'm actually very, very lucky to have what i have, and that i should cherish every aspect of it and just shut the hell up. And to the director, thank you for portraying this side of us we rarely show

  • this was great!!!..I really did not want it to end!! haha...nice work!

  • This is incredible. I've seen nothing like it.

I've watched it for the second time and I'm still fascinated...

  • @DJHyperRhythm it's little nuts in leaf. its vegetarian dude!

  • moving piece that shows so much! I could have been stuck watching this lift all day and be completely content.

  • Great movie

  • I saw this on the first year on university! I loved it as it was so diverse from anything I have seen so far! :) x

  • amazing. thankyou.

  • Simply incredible. Just, incredible. So stark and sparse yet so full of character and characters. The most moving thing I've seen in a long time.

  • This os a work of genius and intensely moving.

    Thank you SO much....

  • Words escape me, truly did not expect this level of depth. So damn poignant and revealing. Sometimes the questions were scathing, other times so heartbreaking. True when the poster below me said concrete and steet don't mix with flesh and emotion.

  • I hope this one wins. :)

  • Judging from the crap I just watched after this, this short is by FAR and AWAY the BEST of the lot! This is fantastic, whereas the others are variously amateurish and mediocre.

  • Concrete and steel, mixes badly with flesh and emotion.

  • I love how they brought/offered him things like a chair, the Rosaries, and how the guy kept bringing him food which brought a smile to my face. :)

  • Ironic really

  • Comment removed

  • "I was counting the white people the other night..." as you do haha

  • Brilliant piece of work. Concept through to completion.

Reminds me that we're all human beings out here / there...hi people :)

Ask more people what they think, and give them your honest attention - sounds like first steps towards a peaceful civilisation if you ask me. <3

Funnily, I always thought my lift in Bethnal Green was unique in her voice. Used to call her 'Mrs Lift' haha. She's getting about a bit.

Always fond of people who offer food to one another - seems like such a caring act.

  • @TwelveLabours Yeah, I really liked the food parts. In a lot of cultures the sharing of food (like breaking bread) is a symbol of comradeship and welcoming.

  • are these actors?

  • @MrFiendster Nope

  • Strangers in the lift... interesting. Weird, this should be boring, why am I looking at it? why do I want to watch it completely?

  • This blew my mind. Such amazing footage and a great idea.

  • fanstic man! really enjoyed that

  • fanstic man!

  • На Леонова похож один)

  • hmmm i dont see how this is moving...cept for the guy opening up about his parents

  • @FuzzySnuckums It takes 25 minuets out of your life to step back, and look at humans interact with each other, regardless of religion, culture, or of age. It's truly moving because you never really take a step back and look at everything, you really get a sense of emotion, and feeling when you watch it, or at least I do.

  • Very spirited. Very moving. A great idea, brilliantly exercised. Can't praise its capturing of humanity enough. Thank you for making it available.

  • IN LONDON MONEY IN ITALY THE SAME....OMG!!!!!!

  • This is one of those things that has certainly been done before but this is definitely the best variation I have seen of it.

  • I was sad to learn off of someone who knows the director that the guy who's parents died later committed suicide :(

  • @beardross He was my favorite regular in the video. That breaks my heart.

  • @beardross that guy was my favorite :'(

  • I could watch this for hours. Absolutely wonderful.

    @beardross

    That's depressing :(

  • @beardross I thought he seemed like the type to be honest, he just looked so sad :/

  • @beardross He was the most interesting and mysterious character i wish we could have seen more of him :(

  • @beardross R.I.P. that guy...

  • @beardross that is so sad... :( Seemed like such a gentile man... fuck. </3

  • @beardross :(

  • @beardross

    That's awful, poor guy.

  • @beardross Thats awful. :( R.I.P

  • @beardross ah... that is so sad, may he rest in peace, it made me cry, bless you for posting this xxx

  • @beardross that's really depressing.

  • @beardross My uncle also had schizophrenia and he committed suicide. Its very heart breaking.

  • @beardross

-This tasteless comment about the mans suicide isn't true, also there is no director for this film.

  • @ThePhantomTramp why does it say Marc Isaacs as the director under the video then?

  • @ThePhantomTramp The director is Marc Isaacs, the cameraman. It's credited.

  • This, is pure brilliance. Well done. I enjoyed myself very much. Thank you.

  • bravo

  • I DREAMPT ABOUT YOU

    HAHAHHA

  • 16:00 is my favorite. I love how he does all those hand motions and it confuses you. And then he says, "see if I had a marble here.." hahahaha

  • @helloSHAY He didn't say "marble". Sounds like "mottle".

  • People are just wonderful, aren't they?

  • I love the look on Peter's face (21:29) when he is asked to describe his best memory from his childhood, and the way he answers it without any hesitation.

Brilliant film, can't wait to see more of these.

  • I thought this was absolutely brilliant! It has a special artistic value to it. It gains my curiosity about the many people that come and go in elevators everyday living different, special, and unique lives.

  • great work!

  • Hmm... England looks great

  • very random but cool

  • This should be made into a series, I could see channel 4 picking it up...

  • 10:04 - awesome.

  • @mjoseff What did she say? I didn't quite understand everything. Could you tell me please?

  • @Scavenger4711 "I dreamed about you!"

  • @mjoseff Alright. I alway understood something like "I dreamed, I beat you!" and I thought she dreamed about beating him up or something xD. Thanks for telling me was she really said :)

  • Wow, this film is incredible. Its a great insight into human nature when a camera is put infront of them involuntary. Some of their stories are quite moving.

  • i love the little old jewish woman! i almost feel bad for her!

  • @TheAncientToaster She's also racist.

  • To me, to understand art and human psychology using sense and logic is like trying to express a complex number with a bunch of apples in a box.

  • The guy with the food is awesome, he even offers a leaf.

  • Daayyym!

That black guy has a tremendously low voice!

  • there is alot of very interesting faces i this

  • DJY1991 Favorited this :D

  • sooooo melancholy

  • @8:47 "Oh... oh I'll take the next one"

  • king of awkward situations

  • Good short, very interesting and characters!

  • A captivating exploration of the human condition. Seeing trust build in some. So many with a sad weariness that can slowly suffocate a life. And nudging them to reflect on dreams, childhood, beliefs. Reaching out by sharing food. This kind of film is how technology can raise global understanding and compassion. More!

  • @carylworden

You summarized this movie quite nicely, it really opens up your mind for thinking, doesn't it?

  • makes you just..think

  • Is this film supposed to have a single message? Or is there a message at all? Or is it just one of those things where you draw your own conclusions and opens up your thought process?

  • what does this meaning mean?

  • I like that you can see the cameraman eating the banana at 8:21

  • this was really sweet, in a touching way.

  • I would rent an Elevator just for this

  • The dog at 8:44 is the best. Where did it come from!?

  • Really great!

  • This was lovely.

  • i wasnt going to watch this whole thing. but then i did.

i mean elevator encounters are always awkward. but this was just heartbreaking. all the lonely people.

  • 11:30 dude looks like nosepass
