  • I just saw this and it completely reminded me of when my last fish died. There were two goldies in the tank and when the older one was floating at the top corner dead the other one would just stay in that corner around him until I took him away. So sad.

  • i use to have a couple of bottom feeders, i say they where both 4 years old, one died and the other one stayed but it's side until i took it out a day later. it was really sad, didn't know fish moan for each other.

  • shit, die armen tiere! du hast ja absolut keine hanung!!!

  • That's just goldies devastating. I don't think the goldfish is trying to eat the corpse... Mainly because when I see my munching on dead fish.. They're attacking it and are more aggressive.

  • poor goldfish shame on you shame on you tot you forever shame on you gay gay gay gay gay gay gay gay

  • omg! I once had two domino damsell fish that were like this... one of them was dying and couldn't get off its side, so the other one spent the rest of the night bumping it upright so it could swim :( then it died...

  • I'd be wary to call this "mourning", maybe more like exploring. In addition, fish are known to cannibalize the dead, its possible that "waking him/moving him around" is actually an attempt to take a bite -- mmm sushi.

  • i don`t believe this fish is mourning. i think the live one is sick with what killed the other. i`d be interested to know what the water conditions are in that small tank that isn`t large enough for 1 fish.

  • I seriously believe that those two fish were close and the other is effected by the death. Maybe this should be documented. I never thought that was possible. how sad

  • my aquarium fish all went by my dead fish =[

  • um i heard that goldfish have a memory span of 3 seconds.

  • And that is wrong. They have an average memory span of 3 months, highest recorded is 6 months.

  • watch mythbusters. they'll tell you you are WRONG.

  • thats wrong all fish have got a very good long term memory but shorterm is alright

  • the white fish is very pretty

    what breed is it?

  • haha!!!11

  • your fishes are to fat .!!!!

  • oh no, its morons like you who cant keep fish alive more than a year or two that keep me in business, as ugly as it sounds.

  • you're absolutely right. i've seen the light. and i apologize for lying about having a filter. in fact, here's the truth...the fish died because i slowly poisoned it everyday with a few drops of arsenic...it took a month to kill it but it finally succumbed. i hate goldfish...its my goal in life to rid the world of them. i have an evil plan of getting a single goldfish and keeping him all alone in a 10 gallon tank!

  • by the way, search "MONSTER FISH KEEPERS" on youtube. you'll see what TRUE big tanks are, and what TRUE people who care about their fish can do

  • lol, goldfish die because of poor water wuality.

good goldfish keepers can and DO keep our goldfish alive for anywhere from 10-15+ years, and they reach an easy 8-10" in length.

"oh, i have airbubbles and a fake plant you call that filtration, you idiot?? i own a retail company and deal with morons like you everyday. and trust me, your tank is NOT super big, your lucky if its 3 feet long and 18 inches high. not even a standard 55g tank.

  • 55 gallons for two fish????? thats not enough? r u insane? whats the name of your store so i can make sure i avoid it!

  • omg sad but watch ur language ur a role

model for these ppl watching this

  • That...is SO SO SO sad....:(

  • No wonder the other one is mourning he knows thats the way hes going to die in a small ridiculous tank, poor sod.

  • oh my god! are you frigging kidding me! its a side view....the tank is super big...watch part 2...you see the tank from the front...seriously...i rescued these fish...the owner said he was gonna put them in the river....i NEVER respond to comments but the idea that the tank is too small is absurd!!!!!!

  • why did your fish die?? because you have no filter on the tank. you dont have a hang on back filter, or we would see the power cord, and you dont have a canister, or we would see the tubing. and you wonder why they died??

and please, dont try telling me your tank is "super big" because you apparently have no idea what so ever, what your talking about. when you have a tank you can measure in the HUNDREDS of gallons, thats starting to get big.

  • wrong wrong wrong....watch part 2...did you watch part 2...you see a front wide shot.,..of course I have a filter...and i have air bubbles coming up and live plants and a light....oh yes, i have all those things but no filter...i cant believe I'm even taking the time to reply to these retarded fucking comments....goldfish die...as we all will...thats life...if you've ever had fish then you know that they die...fish die...if you can tell me where to buy immortal goldfish i will buy some!

  • WTF!!! Why du you have these fishes? Your tank... its terrible! Buy a bigger Tank and some books about FISHES!!!

  • That's heart breaking.

  • He is suffering, poor waterquality... That's why the other one died...

  • this made me very sad

  • The video looks cropped and fake. The fish probably thinks it is still alive that is why it is sitting there. My goldfish always sits next to my other one and sleeps under his tail at night.

  • I think it has to do with the fishes being close to each other.

Recently I removed one of my fishes from the other 2 for the 1st time in 2 yrs +, the 2 fishes did'nt eat the food i fed them, they just stoned at the same place for so long

  • YOU WERE TALKING ON YOUR PHONE WHILE YOU WERE DRIVING?????????? OMG THAT WAS MY RABBIT I THINK!!!!!!!! OMG OMG OMG!!!!!! U KILLED AN INNOCENT SOUL JUST BECAUSE YOU HAAADDDD TO TALK ON THE FREAKIN PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you know what??????? retards is not a nicee WORD!! the proper word is stupid. golly gee wiz do u have any decensy? ugh it's makes me feel sinful to just say the word retarded. unless of course we are talking about metally disabled person. then yes it would be ok.

  • hmmm maybe it's gonna die too?

  • This is really amazing. It's known that gold fish are schoolers and very social. But I never thought they would mourn. It was very sad. Usually you can tell when a fish isn't feeling very well, it's fins are down and closed. It was very upseting when the bigger fish nudging the other fish.

I read most of these comments. Bunch of flamers. I bet they didn't even watch the entire clip.

  • please watch CMS TAKTIM

  • your just exagerating men...that red cup fish is dying too thats why it stays on a corner with died fish..

  • I have 12 goldfish in 10 gallon tank and they're still alive and well..been together now for 8 years in the same tank..I have never seen any of my fish died..it all depends on how you feed them..

you probably over-feed them and that's why one of them died, you idiot.

  • just feed them 2-4 times a day...Look at his goldfishes belly, both of em... THEY GOT HUGE STOMACHS!

  • 2- 4 times a day?!!!!! are u crazy 2 flakes a day each is enough. any way the most my fish lived was like 1/2

  • 1 and a half years*

  • that's because they're fancy goldfish artard

  • i know that they are sapose to look like this but the stomach just looks to large for a fish that small it looks like it was probably suffering from dropsy or somthing. A normal goldfish would probably look like the live ones stomach.

  • wow amazing, 8 years...thats long

  • Your an animal torturer, goldfish need 10 gallons each, i hope you have a strong filter

  • Yes I had goldfish for 5 years and 2 were especially close. She definitely mourned when he died! Thank you for showing this!

  • forgot to add your a dumbass and are responsible for it's death. get a bigger tank genius

  • no wonder one died, that tank is way too small. 10-20 per goldfish not to mention those are big

  • :( That IS so sad....:( I work with fish in a pet store and i have never seen this before. Most Fish will eat any dead fish in the tank. Wow...this is amazing.

  • well. these are animals. we can't be 100% sure of how animals think. but at least take it nicely. ppl jist criticize everything they see. jeez. oh and if u hav a 10 gallons tank u can hav like 4 5 fish...2 fish in big tank is kinda waste of ...tank.

  • you're right...I have 12 goldfish in 10 gallon tank and they're still alive and well..been together now for 8 years in the same tank..I have never seen any of my fish died..it all depends on how you feed them..

you probably over-feed that's they died, you idiot.

  • listin guy from this video i love you lol

Children need to be taught respect for animal emotion and develop a respect for each and every one of our finny let alone furry friends CONGRATULATIONS FOR CREATING SUCH A FINE AND TOUCHING PIECE OF ART WHICH CAPTURES THE ETERNAL AND UNIVERSAL ASPECT OF LIFE FOR ALL INTELLIGENT CREATURES.....GREAT GRIEF PLEASE RELAY MY BEST WISHES AND MY KIND HOUGHTS TO THE SURVIVOR

  • this is making me teer up ;-( ive never ever seen this in my life cuz its fish! u dont see fish sad around other fish these days!

  • I didn't know guy's could feel that way about their fish. I was so upset when my fish died (log fell on her). And I just thought it was me who could feel that way.

    you're a sweet guy

  • Hey guys! The tank is very big...you're seeing it from a side view....its a long tall tank....watch part 2, you'll see ....I would never cram animals into a tiny space...thats why there only two fish in the tank...i didnt want them to be cramped. truly, the tank is not too small. in fact i just measured it for ya'll....the side you're seeing is 12 inches but the other side is 24 inches and its 24 inches tall...get a measuring tape, you'll see its a big tank.

  • Yeah, they are so close... because there is no room for them to be apart.

  • How many gallons was that tank? It looks very small. Too small for a couple goldfish.

  • Ohmygosh

    I'm so sad now ;o;

  • Your tank is way too small for these fish..

  • I've never seen a Goldfish mourn, but I've seen a whale blubber! ;) Really though, that is not mourning, it looks more like Hannity is waiting to eat Mr. Colmes there...

  • Wow, that goldfish actually did seem sad. It's dorsel fin was down only when it was around the dead fish indicating that it was stressed or unhappy. Normally I see goldfish eat other dead ones but I was surprised that this one didn't. That's amazing!

  • when oyu said i ahve never felt pain from a goldfish. oh come on grow up how old are you!!. it was halarios when you said this is a scence from sophies chioce how could you compare this to a steven speilburg film

  • i love goldfish i ahve five oranda's but yet i dont make sad nioses when one of them died im not cold hearted, i just think that this " a goldfish mourns wont appear int he news or anything its not that special ive seen t loads of times calm down !!!

  • my favorit part is when you made those squeling nioses going ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nooooooooooooooo look it its trying move it . i was like, all right calm down dear. its only a fish . i also cracked up when you said its like a tragic scene from a speilburg film .

  • i meant sad as pafectic but it is sad in a sad ay too but quite pafetic too kind of you took it so serios robbie larson its happened loads of times and yer it didnt even appear in the news

  • Yes it's true.

I had a common goldfish and a shubunkin goldfish and one time the common got an internal infection and the shubunkin would not leave his sight. I had to separate them to treat the common. Unfortunalty, she died. Now I need a new friend for him.

  • that was really sad

  • get that fish in the frier and make some chips to go with it anyone for tarter sauce ??????????

  • Aww bless, that's so sad... When one of my fish had swim bladder problems, she'd be just sitting at the bottom of the tank and my other normal goldfish would go up to her and just either stare at her or lie next to her... They have feelings too!

  • omgosh it makes me want to cry! its so sad :[[

  • sadddd

  • I think 50 gallons is a great size for these type of goldfish because they grow up to around 6 inches.

  • I don't understand why we humans (many of us) believe other living creatures are not capable of having emotions. How could we prove or disprove it? We can't; we had a black goldfish with our koi in our pond. They were inseperable. When the goldfish died, our koi acted different for days. He was lethargic and unsociable. They are social creatures. They can feel loss.

  • maybe it's because you're fish really can't go anywhere else because you're tank is so small

  • Thanks for your concern. The tank is 50 gallons. You don't think that's big enough for two goldfish??? Most of the vid is shot from the side, not the front.

  • Aww this is really cute.

  • I have never in my life seen something so amazing, never have i before witnessed a gay guy watch his fish watch another fish. Could we get a video of your boyfriend watching you watching the fish? Maybe Karen could shoot it.

  • You were not supposed to leave the dead fish in the tank for such a long period of time. It's cruel and not healthy for the other fish.

  • lol wow u stayed 8 min next to your fish tank with a camara calling people to come over your house to see your fish...

  • Fish have about an 8sec memory span...'OMG..He's dead'..(8secs later) OMG He's dead (8secs later) OMG He's dead (8secs later) and so on and so on..The big fish is thinking 'If he don't move soon..I'm gonna eat him' (in between the 8secs)and not 'Look..Its kissing him'. Get real.

  • Wrong - the short goldfish memory myth was scientifically debunked by many, including even (the less scientific) Mythbusters. I think such myths are people making humans so great by conceptually diminishing the capacities of other creatures-a (individual)human, not fish, limitation. Goldfish are social creatures (see my video) and can even be 'clicker' trained (www.fish-school.com).

  • sad, yet amazing. I've had several pet rats. When there has been a loss the other(s) mourned and quickly deteriorated in health. One touching case, Daisy passed away within 3 days after her mom Rose was put to sleep.

  • That's sad :( One of my fish stopped eating and died 19 days after his mate did :|

  • That really is sad. One of my parakeets died today and I know my other one is mourning....as am I.

  • this video is so sad favorites

  • I have seen this exact same behavior with my fish when they've lost a longtime friend. It's fascinating and heartbreaking. They absolutely do feel emotion. :(

  • i have seen the same with my goldfish!

but my biggest one always sleeps like your dead one.
