I actually got lucky and was able to hide behind the crates, and essentially reach between them to pick the lock of the chest. it's quite tricky getting in the just right position to do it. Didn't feel like waiting around.

Doesn't anybody understand? The only items people call rare are actually the ones found in set locations all the time. Random Items are rare. Umbra, The Bands of Kwang Lao, and the Fin Gleam is not. A very nice enchanted piece of armor without an extremely special name is rare. Amber and Madness armor is not.
