recently-as in 2010 after Matts series finale the DW website asked for the best song from the last 5 years- i said this one-i just love it-i dont even know why, its just brilliant, hope they put it on "they will feature the most popular selections" i just love it
And a lot of people didn't twigg for a long time this is a slight re-working of the ood song back in ep 3..... not that I'm complaining - this is just sheer magic....
I can't believe ppl criticise this music + this scene. They say the music is OTTY. That the TARDIS is overcrowded and its towing of the Earth is stupid. WAKE UP. The TARDIS can do that watch the Satan Pit + its explained in the episode that he uses the Rift + Mr Smith. The music is triumphant and beautiful and r u in the TARDIS? No so wat do u care if its over crowded, whatsmore its epic on many lvs cos we've never seen a sequence like this b4
I havint heard anyone say anything bad about Song of Freedom or the Scene it's played with .
You are right about the Satan Pit when the Doctor uses the Tardis's own Tractor Beam to pull a Ship away from a Black Hole , but to quote the 9th Doctor in Boom Town -
" It's not just any old Power Scorce , it's the Tardis , MY Tardis , the best Ship in the Universe ! . .. . this Ship's alive ! you've opened it's Soul ! " . . . .
@doctorwhoone Exactly, it is literally the best fictional spaceship ever created. Alright mayb Star Trek's Enterprise is more well known but is it bigger on the inside? Can it travel anywhere in the universe, at any time period in the blink of an eye? Can it automatically translate any language telpathically? is it alive? Is it shaped like a police box? the answer to all of these is HELL NO
Thanks . Much as i like Archer's Enterprise [ which makes Kirk's look like an out-dated piece of Junk , even if Kirks is from 100 Years later after the NX-O1 ] it still wont be the No.1 Ship ever created .
Trouble with Archer's Enterprise , it's too advanced , as thou it been built out of all the modern Technology we have now with those I-Pod things and touch screen's etc etc , making Kirk's look less and less advanced , still , Archer's Bridge looks better then the one in last Years Star Trek.
@doctorwhoone Well thats what happens when u do a prequel to something which was around 40 yrs earlier. I think the rule when making any prequel is to make damn sure it can belivably become the thing that u r doing a prequel to. TBH though I don't know that much about Star Trek, I mean I know the basics every1 kinda knows but nothing too in deph
@227060 I just laugh at people who try to take Doctor Who too seriously and criticize it for not being realistic. Come on, people. This is the show that pokes fun at its own techno-babble. "Wibbly wobbly timey wimey" anyone? No, the show isn't a big joke. But you're meant to suspend your disbelief and just enjoy it. The TARDIS towing Earth? Who cares if it doesn't make much sense. It's a fun scene and it has some awesome triumphant music to go along with it.
@227060 People criticize the whole two-episode arc because it was fucking stupid. By far the worst Doctor Who storytelling since the relaunch of the franchise. Still, the music is beautiful.
@Supermassively with all due respect: bullshit. You can't just say that about a tv show, book, film, or any other thing within the arts. its all a matter of interpretation. u have interpreted it and found it lacking i have intepreted it and found it not lacking. The issue is exacerbated further due the size of the DW fanbase and the various divisions within it which is inevitable ina sci-fi, let alone long running shows and 1 wherein change is periodical, thus encouraging divisions.
Unfortunately, the song does not have the actual lyrics, according to the Doctor Who's Prom night concert. However, I am still looking for someone who can actually hear the words and decipher it--it sounds Latin.
this song makes me cry tears of joy but i don't know why

Dum inter homines
Sumus colamus
Humanitatem
Cum tacent clament
roughly translated, it is
As long as we are among humans, let us be humane (?)
In silence, we scream (or we are screaming)

Lyrics to this is as follows:
"Dum inter homines sumus colamus humanitatem. Cum tacent clamant."
Which translates to the roughly the following:
"As long as we are among humans, let us be humane. With silence we shout"
