the vulcan is in desperate need of donations buy the end of feb please dont let this great british icon go the same way as concorde donations can be made via the vulcan to the sky web site
Nice! But...at what cost? Is it worth TWO MILLION POUNDS ANNUALLY to fly it? Vulcan Operating Co told Lottery that airshow fees would pay all costs for sustained operations. Now, we're finding out that's not true. Sorry, guys, but TWO MILLION POUNDS ANNUALLY was never gonna come from airshow fees. A blind man couldda seen that before you started. I seem to recall the RAF retired it because, aside from being old, it was also EXPENSIVE TO OPERATE. VulcantotheHANGAR!
HAHAHAHAH that would be awsome! I would love to see the look on the the Taliban's faces they would shit themselves. You are missing out the Typhoon FGr4 on that list.
I find it interesting that this was Britain's own version of the "Ural bomber", but for the Cold War. Something Germany never figured out during WWII.
Indeed they are ! Olympus Engines !! Apparently only the 200 series Olympus engines had the "intake harmonics" Don't quote me on that, I'm no expert but I know when the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end !!!! But yep Concorde had the Olympus engine with reheat (300 series I think)
I remember seeing the old girl before she was grounded and have seen her fly many times before this. The sound of her 4 engines still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up no matter how many times I hear it!!!
Can't wait to see her in the air, where she truely belongs, in the flesh again!!!
Like I said at another forum "the screaming, roaring voice of God". Wow!!!! It's amazing that it's flying again. Now they should find another and get a mini squadron of them to roam the skies deafening the countryside.
Megga just like the old days

I watched this at 4.30 am (usa time) with tears in my eyes, I love the big Delta wing Vulcan and was so happy to see her return to the skies.
I lived in the UK till 5 years ago, XH558 was a big part of my growing up years.
Thank you for sharing.
