I went over Hardknot over 30 years a go in a Mini Clubman with the wife in the front and 2 kids in the back, all three were in tears and in fear of dieing......happy days
@georgelettice Days of glory indeed. We climbed it in 1976 in an Austin 1100. I was one of the kids in the back, deliriously excited, age 4... remember it clear as a bell. Takes your breath away when you hit the steep section, doesn't it? :)
Always give way to vehicles which are going up! If you're going up and decide to give way to down coming traffic because you don't have trouble on the incline, think of those who will have trouble and who get stuck behind your stationary booty!
What an arrogant idiot. If you want to race, then why don't you go to a race track instead of putting other people in danger? Your kind of "games" kill thousands of people every year around the country.
@mikevaleriani Looks like a piece of careful, courteous driving to me. You can clearly see the driver looking across the corners for approaching traffic and stopping to let them past even when they have not given way to a climbing vehicle. If you consider that reving an engine hard is dangerous you should try to climb a 1:3 hill at low revs, it just doesn't work.
Recently came over the pass going to eskdale camping, fully loaded c-max with top box and crying kids in the back, not to mention the 10 ft visibility mist . Intresting!!!
beutiful road could hardly seed the road when coming down some of those sharp hairpins over my civic's never ending bonnet i would have loved to have driven it a bit harder but the weather was apuauling!
Well done

I did ardknott Pass last week before doing a wild camp. My arse was twitching like a rabbit's nose. It's an experience.

I took my Ford Puma up there 2 days ago, whilst on holiday, and it's not for the faint hearted.
I found out that my clutch is going, as all i got was high revs, when trying to do a hill start, after giving way.

Good car to do this in sort of, except the dim-whitted gearbox wasnt havving it on the uphil section before dropping down to seathwaite!
One thing to always keep telling yourself when on single lane roads and passing places. Who has right of way?
Me :D
