  • Lol the eppist with the tiny writing on his back 0:24

  • it reminds me of a video game sometimes. the two people just stand there and stay away from each other

  • Comment removed

  • Your boring now.

  • @commando25101 "Your" grammar sucks.

  • British Fencing Association is racist and corrupt, the International Body for fencing the Académie d'Armes Internationale - AAI, refuse to recognize British Fencing in any way, or any of their coaches or qualifications. British Fencing qualifications are worthless outside Britain, and British Fencing coaches are a laughing stock.

  • Comment removed

  • @MsSitaJ If you don't recognise British Fencing or it's coaching, then why can I see contact details and a link for BAF here on the "Addresses" page of the AAI site.

Was I not meant to see that? Woops. Youtube comment fail. :p

  • @angrygingersteve Why don't you speak to the AAI or any other member body of the AAI like US Fencing, Australia Fencing, etc and see if they recognize your BFA qualifications. They will tell you to either get the BFA into the AAI, which will never happen, or requalify all over again with the USFA, etc. I know as many coaches have found out.

  • Comment removed

  • @MsSitaJ Don't have any qualifications as such, so that's pretty much irrelevant.

If BFA is a racist organisation, why are British fencers allowed to compete internationally? Would the FIE have banned them? Also, I can't imagine UK Sport, the government or Beazley insurance funding/sponsoring a racist organisation- BFA has been criticised for many things by UK Sport, but racism is nowhere on that list.

    Back up your evidence.

  • @angrygingersteve

Fencing sucks because it's always 1 vs 1 you never get to see a battle where there are than just two fencers fighting..

  • @Dimitri0809 Deal with it.

  • @angrygingersteve

Oh don't give me that garbage talk.. You know there can be more than just 2 fencers fighting at the same time where a team can vs another team at the same time. And don't tell me what I should deal with and not, I'll just modify the system so that you can have multiple fencers fighting at the same time and it will become more popular than 1 vs 1 fighting because 1 vs 1 fighting can get boring..

  • @Dimitri0809 Good luck with that! :)

  • British Fencing one of the most racist Organization in Britain. If you are brown or black, stay away from them.

  • boring

  • 0:08 did he really just duck a sword slash? i thought that only happened in the movies and in anime

  • It's a bit embarrassing when you see fencers celebrate a touch, or appeal to the judge.

  • I have seen a fencer that was incredibly unsymetric because of fencing is that true? that's the only thing that kept me from training fencing since other martial arts makes you practice more symetrical so that you don't look like a freak. Anyone who fence that can comment on that? otherwise it sure looks fun.

  • this hall there fencing in hates me. every single competition i enter in this hall something happenes. 1st time i pulled a muscle is my leg doing sabre. 2nd time I was sick and the 3rd time i had a breathing problem. this hall has a grudge on me i swear

  • what do you call a french fencer? a german wannabe

what do you call a german fencer? a french wannabe

what do you call an american fencer? immigrant

  • if you watch closely at 41sec. the dude on the left adjusts his dick.

  • Comment removed

  • Haha :42 "...huh? where'd that come from?"

  • anyone who says "piss off" is a douche bag.

  • Whoever choose this shit music should be raped and shot

  • 104,000 views! WIN!

  • I was in that competition this year, came last shoop da woop!!!!!

  • my brother doesa this lame !!

  • @misssupersinger If you think it's lame, then you are lame.

  • @Taurus8763 It is a mrtial art except that lacks the mutual respect between opponents that all other martial arts emphasize. It is probably the most selfish sport because, unliek in other martial arts, where the goal is to become a better and stronger person, gain skill and knowledge, the only objective in fencing is to be the best, since the sport in itself is absolutely useless and brings very little to its practitionner.

  • Man!! the last part was superb~ he made the man pissed off LOL

  • @NTVification Body Cords...

  • uhh i dont really know anything about fencing

but why do they have the little rope things on their back?

  • Its electric fencing ,that are wires to connect the fencer whit the machine

  • @aznman110 the "ropes are attached to a spring loaded reel at the end of the strip. a cord goes from the reel box to the scoring machine tho tell who got the touch. at the other end of the "rope" closest to the fencer, a body cord goes from their weapon to down their sleve and plugs into the rope.

  • how is fencing gay??????? u r why dont u try it befor judging it i mean it is realy intence when ur fencing and being a fencer myself since i was 9 i say if u say fencing is gay i would like to fence u ... how gay is fencing now ( not to be rood if it seems like it if u read this) :)

  • @sergateway I agree it is boring while watching a video :P its much more fun playing it live

  • Are these your champions?... Well... Peace and Feliz Navidad desde Madrid.

  • It's much more fun doing it rather than watching.. the gear is heavier than it looks too =P

  • As a martial artist I have much respect for this noble sport......

  • @Taurus8763 Still, it requires huge levels of commitment. After having practiced it for 5 years, the main feeling I have is deception, because you cannot always be the best.

Just look at the fencers who loose, at how fken frustrated they are.

  • @Taurus8763 Bah! Fencing has declined to the point where it's no longer effective even in a real situation (if you applied it to knife work or something).

All it is nowadays is a wimpy game of tag.

Matches are so restrained that they get stopped at the slightest little touch, and light, flimsy sticks are used. I will not honor those sticks with the title of "sword".

And I will definitely not call these guys martial artists in any way, shape, or form.

  • @Taurus8763 Chinese Jian (straightsword) fencing is quite similar to Western fencing in that it still employs dexterity over force, small cuts and stabs, but it can also be used for more longsword-specific swings, so it is not "slashing-crippled" like the rapier, but it isn't quite as fast, either.

  • looks like high speed chess great that was good in slow motion ,

  • whats the name of this song???

  • I believe it's Warrior by Warrior

  • movies are fake doin all those twirls leaves them open

  • HA! This don't look nothing like the movies. These guys don't know what they're doing! Just kidding. That foils gotta hurt when it gets under the mask!

  • ima doin dis in Pe tomoz looks likefun but er Any1 tell me the name of the song plz?

  • Why is it so hard to find a fencing video without blaring techno music?

  • @ktorwelle it seems that fencing and techno blend together

  • Me and my 3 mates did a team-competition, we won first prize :D

Nice massive trophy for our school and some shiny golden medals for us ^_^

  • im going to be fencing this saturday in a competition and i can't wait - so excited - this vid just makes me want to go grab my epee and practice some fleches

  • me to in soloturn

  • Good luck - what weapon r u doing

  • im nit shure how to say it in english its lepee on french and degen on german.

    and you?

  • i think thats epee which is what weapon i use - good luck with the competition btw.

  • i got 4th and you?

  • saber

  • Oops 4:20 never look at the box lol

  • this is epee right?

  • it's foil then epee.

  • i can never tell who wins...........'

  • The one that gets more points

  • whats the name of this song?

  • I don't know how the hell some of them get away with their feet not being at right angles. You are way more balanced in a perpendicular stance and your taught that from your first lesson!! Fair enough, they bounce which gives momentum and added balance to an extent, but come on guys BASICS! lol

  • Once you have your balance down, the difference between right angles and straight is basically none.

  • Well it isn't actually, iv seen plenty of trips and falls due to parrying whilst having near straight feet, and all were experienced .........the point is that its whatever works for you but its stronger to have right angles.

  • not true. You are more balanced if your feet are properly positioned. You can move faster if your center of balance is lower which if your back foot is straight is hard to do. I also find i can move faster if i am using proper technique for footwork but its epee. sooo eh

  • lol footwork in epee?

  • lol, well they are now teaching kids NOT to put their feet at right angles because as you said its pretty hard to keep balanced with front foot forward, back foot pointing out so they are saying now a V shape of feet, so if your feet are at right angles the new one is a slightly more acute angle <90......thats just our club anyway

  • a slight angle is ok but less than 90 degrees is a wide range. Keeping your feet like that restricts your backward movement. My foot is not quite at 90 degrees when i fence its at a very acute angle. What club are you in?

  • well everyone's balance is different....and mary hawden in huddersfield, england

  • I think most people still do 90 degrees.

  • Slightly less than 90 degrees is better for pushing off with lunges and especially for reprises, at 90 it puts a lot more stress on your knee.

  • i do fencing to ..i wait till they come then i attack

  • i do fencing at university, and i would love to have the speed and footwork the fencers in this video have :-)

  • this is boring do some paring make a rally make it interesting

  • then go watch foil there will be more paring...

  • this is foil...

  • what makes you think that. Foil needs an electric vest, which these fencers don't wear. second of all foil has a smaller shell.

do your homework before you comment.

  • That is an electric vest look at the black boxes on their wastes. Open your eyes before you comment and dont be a dick when your wrong.

  • I am a begining Fencer. I watched and was not impressed with any of these fencers. I saw no parrying. I saw little in the area of defensive positing. I mostly see people dancing around attempting to simply score a point anyway they can. There are two people in my class who are senior level fencers who fence that way. The female loves to fall to the floor and attempt a score I concentrate on defense. Her move rarely works on me. To me, the best fencers are defensive as well as offensive.

  • Hi, um, i fence too, but when you fence epee, you really dont need to perri as much as you need to in foil because it is moslly attacking and not as much defencing. :)

  • Yes! You are correct. I just fenced with an Epee Thursday {2/19/2009} against my instructor and others. I found it to be less challenging. The only thing I needed to do was score on the hand, feet or any close target if I remember correctly. It was boring really. I enjoy the swordplay better I guess.

    Terrific

  • I am fencer too.

i think the most breathtaking fencing is aggressive style. yes, good defense is also interesting, but the aim of fencing is the making your opponent make mistakes.

And guy who lost at the final is very stupid.. Don;t respect him for that behavior..

  • Is your instructor or senior falls on the floor the hit isnt valid anyway. Another thing is that epee has possibly the most elaborate parries because the movements (eg circular parries and doublays) need to be larger because the blade is heavier. In foil you are taught smaller movements so in some instances it seems as if there are no parries at all. Plus, if in doubt back off you dont need to parry every time.

  • guys watch my fencing vid of me in the BYC's

  • Out of everyone in this vid, the last two..are by far the best, so everyone..Lesson 1, go and look at the last two fencers, and see how it should be done! ;)

  • Ok.. i reconsidered all you guys said so i watched the vid again to see if i feel different and i must say... although my previous comment was a bit RUDE, i'm still thinking that for a campionship you would think there would be someone with a little more tallent! FYI ... i'm not an idiot just because i made a comment that you didn't like, and guess what, believe it or not, i do and can back it up!!

  • The guy at the end got his butt handed to him on a platter.

  • corinna Lawrance and is it Elisia Albini at 1:53? i no them frm the AYOF.

  • what is the name of the song from 4:42? please reply

  • cred ca e melodia "daca ai valoare ai si pizde techno H0Us3 Rem!cs"

  • dirt devils - the drill :)

  • 4:25. sickest touch of the whole video.

    fencing is life.

  • omg i love fencing - i was at the 2007 championships and it was a tough competition

  • ooh same!!! tough but a lot of fun :)

  • Once the electric is taken out of fencing then it will be fencing. Until then this is flyfishing, superfast.

  • hellois5letters, I can see where you're coming from on this. But the foils/epees/sabres are to thin for judges/referees to see accurately IMO. It's not like in Kendo where you can see AND hear the strikes being made.

  • Thickness of blade has not changed much since early 1900. That is one of reasons that White was only color allowed because blade shows best. Also a touch was based on the 1/3 bend of the blade. That is why there were 4 judges on 4 sides. There were rules back then. With electric, judges only rely on the buzzer. There is neither manners nor "gentlemen's" conduct. Look at them! They look like lunatics, jumping around hoped on coke or E. However, they are good at the victory "yeah"s" hand signs.

  • This is did not know. I have poor eye sight, so maybe it's just me who can't see when the blades are striking.

If you want a weapon discipline that teaches manners and conduct, why not join Kendo?

  • What makes electric fencing less fencing? Isn't fencing simply fighting with swords?

That's what they are doing right?

Sorry for my lack of spelling and experience btw.

  • Somebody doesn't fence...!

With the introduction of electric fencing, the sport has become far more athletic and some could say more realistic in that you're aiming for the hit - not making somebody else see it.

Judges do not only rely on the buzzer either, that's just fencing laman nonsense!

Though I do agree not enough fencers act like gentlemen on and around the piste though most do

  • Fag.

  • This sport is legal in all countries. They're not quite REAL swords anyways. They are rather flimsy, round, and have a ball on the end. The fencers also wear padding. There are a few things flawed with that fox statement. 1. It is illegal 2.There are many better animals to use than a fox, and a baby one at that. And 3. You can't use an animal to run a high powered furnace. I hope that clears things up for you.

  • I am familiar with fencing equipment, I'm actually taking a class now. (Why do you think I was looking at fencing videos?)

The baby fox comment was a JOKE kid...jeez. I guess you would have to know the political/legal situation in Britain to know that. Google "fox hunting england" or "gun ban england"

  • Oh, sorry. I can't tell the inflection of someones voice through text, so I thought you were being serious. And I was unaware of whatever is going on in Britain because I live in America.

  • Looks fun, You know Bruce Lee mixxed Fencing in with his philosophy on fighting, thats why i'm watching.

  • I have watched videos of fencing in the past days, and fencing these days. In the past days, the fencing has alot more elegance in it. Here, they just try to hit the other one as fast as possible, no matter what.

  • i have a question, well, a couple... ok, i am thinking about taking lessons, is fencing fun? also, why do the people competing have to stay in a straight line? and one final question, can u roll on the ground while fencing as an attack/defense? thanx

  • oh yeah! fencing is great! Why do they have to stay in a straight line, well, i guess because of boundaries for the main thing, and its hard to fence when your going all over the place. And sorry, no. To the best of my knowledge you cant roll on the ground, you can only stand up. hope that helps if nobody has repleied to this yet :)

  • On a fencing video is a rather biased area to ask if fencing is fun. Chances are, if someone is watching fencing, they like it. lol

  • the second fight was great. The most fencing fights looking stupid , like 5 year old kids fight for shit.

  • woot! I highly enjoy this video! I fence pistol grip epee myself and I find there just aren't enough epee video's on youtube. Do you use pistol, russian, or french grip? I'm thinking of getting a french epee made with a light weight bell guard, just for something diffrent to play around with. anyway thanks for posting this! :D

    -Emma

  • lol my club has 5 lefties in it including my brother and I. I find its more confusing to fence against a right hander lol.

  • I want to start taking lessons. Is this fun?

  • Yes i´m doing it for 1 1/2 years now and i totally love it.

  • u sound pretty bad 2 me

i mean im 13 and ive wun the national championships and like yh i kinda doubt you've wun the adult national championships or that u could so shutup

  • I bet your really good at playing tummy sticks too.

  • im willing to bet all talk. but then again most of the idiots who post stuff like you watawatan0w are.

  • it's called distance - as in gauging and controlling of. It's actually quite important in fencing...

  • what kind of ridiculous music is this, it is utter garbage

    PS: fencing is awesome

  • it is workout music! lol

  • i practiced foil and i tried the other 2 also however i found foil to be the most spectacular one

  • do most american colleges accept foil fencing tho? foils prolly the least popular out of the other two tho right?

  • I fence Sabre so don't know 100%, but from the competitions I've seen there's more foil than anything else.

  • less music please, more natural sound

  • whats more popular in the US colleges? epee foil or sabre?

  • from what I can tell and from what I've heard and read Saber is the most popular of the three in the U.S.

  • Does anyone know where to watch the olimpic fencing matches online??? They´re never on TV!!

  • horrible musik............. but nice fencing

  • This is the competition at Stoke-on-Trent isn't it?

  • Fencing has been something that I had always wanted to do ever since I was a kid. I regret never trying it at least once

  • Isn't it kinda weird versing a person with the opposite hand

  • yep, thats the advantage of being a lefty =D, although I get confused when I have to fence with another lefty ...

  • Yup, I have that problem too. Fencing against lefties is harder somehow-_-;;

  • Y`m a fencer from Romania ! Nice moves...realy nice ;) ! Realy want to meet with you !:D At the World Championship !GooD LuuK!

  • nice vid dude, good fencing, too

  • sabre is sooooooooooooooooo much beta

  • epee fencing is awesome. I love the footwork, im incorporating it into my MMA.

  • wow! good luck mate!

  • COOL! I'm like spadeboy. I used to do just foil, but now that I've tried epee I'M HOOKED!!!

  • beast. I just switched from foil to epee. sooo much fun.

  • I usually take the piss a bit when it comes to sport fencing, but thats some damn fine moves there.

Wouldn't mind trying it actually. Might teach me something new when it comes to traditional fencing.

  • wow 12000 views!

  • the 4:27 was nice! i dont fence but it seems like fun

  • Nice! What's the name of song?

  • Haha! 4:27!!! Absolutely awesome, I can never do that! :P Classic!

  • actually i did it once

and i am a beginner (for my time. not my skills). it was sweet... he didn't see it coming at all

  • I did it twice today, but we are all noobs, so I'm not sure if it counts.

  • Lmao!! Noobs?

  • what is that movement called?

  • No earthly idea. However, it is part of the group of attacks called "infighting". Basically moves you do when you are too close to do anything legitimate.

  • Don't watch it then dear

  • in the same hall

  • where was the sabre fencing?

  • nice! i love the epee :D especially the 4:27 hahaha.

  • MORE FOIL!!!
