@Luxiebabee It's not about the shame of losing a war. I am actually not an American, Southron or otherwise, but a Canadian who is a Confederate sympathizer. I think the North should have let the South exercise their right of self-determination as the 13 colonies had with relation to Britain, and not kept them in the Union by brute force. Though the South seceeded due to slavery, the war was about states' rights, not blacks' rights; there were Northern slaves too and many Northerners were racist.
