Bird shot should be fine for the shotgun, but don't expect it to go through body armor. I would go with #00 buckshot if you think you may run into some well equipped bad guys.
Also, go easy on the oil with the Glock. The main thing is to keep it clean. If you have the owners manual it should have a diagram on which parts to oil.

also i have a glock 17 9mm all the cleaning that is required keep the barrel clean all slide parts clean and go easy on the oil glocks dont require that much oil
Use what you have, if all you have is birdshot, use it and hope for the best. Its all about shot placement, no amount of drugs will make your brain, heart, or any other vital organ bullet proof. It may not be the best defensive round, but what sane person(not hopped up on drugs) would want to get shot by a shotgun. Whether it be buckshot, birdshot, slugs, beanbags, etc etc. As if the deafening blast from a shotgun in close quarters wouldn't disorient someone.

the first round in my 500 is a 3 in hollow point slug x2 followed by a 3 in super x 00 buck magnum x2 then a 2 3/4 KO round where i live i dont have to worry about hitting innocents
For my 500 I load 8shot bird X2 followed by double ought buck X2 then a slug, so feed order , I load the slug first then the two 00buck and then the last two I load are the 8shot so the intensity of power rises in the case it's needed to be shot, I am getting a Glock 30sf soon too!! Great job on informing the masses. On shotgun load out. I use #4 shot for home defense. I store up a lot of buckshot for distance shooting, such as deer hunting and I keep the bird shot for the birds.

If you go with buck shot you'll be fine, I would recommend the "low recoil" law enforcement loads (Remington makes a nice load, called Tac 8 I think, Federal makes a good one too “Power Shok” I think). They are plenty powerful enough to stop bad guys yet won't over penetrate. Also has the advantage of being mild enough for you to be right back on target if you need follow-up shots.
well bird shot is cheaper, but let me tell you if somebody gets hit with bird shot there either going to be dead or extremely injured, but buckshot is always good, I would reccomend # 2 shot which is a little cheaper than buck shot, and it shoots further and it has almost the same amount of power.

After seeing pictures of one woman that was literally shot point blank in the face and lived. The debate on shotgun ammo can go on for hours. I like to use a low recoil 2-3/4 inch rifled slug. Do not use a sabot in a smooth bore. Bird shot is wonderful if you live in an apartment or extremely close to a neighbor but beware of shot bouncing back. Buckshot is good if your house has a brick finish. I wouldn't advise any turkey loads or 3inch mag shells. 2-3/4 will have ballistics comparable to a 500sw or 50ae at close range. check manufacturers listed ballistics on line as well b-4 buying.

hi demcad, I would go with #1 buck or perhaps #4 buck, all things considered less penetration than OO or OOO buck. Birdshot would be like a giant Glaser safety slug. I think I'd go with something in between. #4 shot looks like a better option to me. The birdshot put me down, but not immediately. If I had been armed I would have still been able to return fire. Luckily for my attackers, Illinois has a policy of disarming potential victims.

its actually not a bad idea to put a little oil on the spring. when i clean my glock i put it on the points where the slide attaches to the lower reciever of the pistol, but not much because glocks only need a little. and then of course throw a little oil on the trigger mechanism inside the gun, as well as the exterior of the barrel. and then for clean i would use a hand towel. hop this helps
Depends on where you live and who else lives in your house.. if you're in the country, and have no close neighbors, and possibly need it for animal defense too, definetly 2 3/4 mag 00buck. (some guns hold more of 23/4). But for indoors, I've got a family, so I choose magnum BB shot. Good enough knock down, not too much penetration.
@valstar1000 accually a slug would be better than buckshot, if the deer was farther away maybe only a few bb's will hit the deer and it would run for miles, maybe wouldnt die for days from lead poisoning.

You are not going to want to use paper towel because it ineveitably leaves particles. fot any are of which you would use s that i suggest using silicone cloth. the 12ga buck is much better, because the heavier round is much better for a "kill shot", because intruders can and will sue you for their injuries.

Oil every moving part of the gun. Also once the gun is clean, oil the inside of the barrel very lightly. Basically clean and oil every metal part because the oil will act as a protectant for the metal and wont hurt it in the least. The polymer doesn't need to be lubed really but it should be cleaned.

Hey man, in your video u kind of asked where to lubricate your Glock 17. I have one, and i ONLY use 100% Silicon spray. If something with oil in it, it can destroy the rubber and plastic parts. if you already have been using oil without 100% silicon, buy degreasing spray, it cleans your pistol for oil and grease. and when/if you have 100% silicon spray, its not bad for the pistol, just remember to lubricate every moving parts. At such close range, I would go with a slug. Mossberg is a good choice. But the Glock.... I got a Kahr CW .45 Dude, Same quality, about $200 less. I got mine for $400 new. In the shotgun, you can also take the shot out of the shell and replace it with rock salt, then seal the shell back with wax.... Won't kill, but there ass will be burning to bad to wanna mess with you any more...lol.

well bird shot is cheaper, but let me tell you if somebody gets hit with bird shot there either going to be dead or extremely injured, but buckshot is always good, I would reccomend # 2 shot which is a little cheaper than buck shot, and it shoots further and it has almost the same amount of power.

5.56x45 was made to chamber for the AR15(military designation M16).
Based upon the .222 cartridges, which was used to hunt deer in Germany and Australia.
With good bullet design, you can and will get a projectile that can meet the required penetration to stop a threat with .223.

@YenkoSuperChevy A semi auto shotgun will not function a blank round unless it's converted. Then you can't use shot. After seeing pictures of one woman that was literally shot point blank in the face and lived. Another story was someone shot in the chest from 6 feet away with birdshot and walked to the ambulance under his own power. Don't toy around with anything but rounds meant to do the job.

Home defense? Warning shots? The two go together like ketchup on toast. If someone breaks into my house, you're eating 12 gauge pellets for lunch. Now, I heard a guy on hear talkin' about bird shot. Son, if I could fire knock out rounds, I'd do it. I don't wanna kill a guy, and if there was a gun that when fired, knocked you out instantly, I'd buy it. But birdshot is for birds my friend, if you get a guy with bird shot in the leg, you've basically shot him 30 times in the leg with a pellet gun.

If you feel compelled to give a warning, when it should be a large amount of force is utilized to gain entrance to your home, a simple I'm armed and ready to use my weapon would suffice... 2.) A bucket is a solid object, a sold object reacts vastly different than an object that is mostly water. Thus the reason the FBI and those who study the effects of bullets scientifically, use a ballistic gelatin to study the damage.
3.) It has nothing to do with being blood-thirsty. In your home, your warning should be your locked doors....

If you need to go to your fire-arm, it is a dire situation with very real, permanent consequences.
Do not fire "warning shots" and do not use anything except proven, reliable load outs for defensive purposes.
Bird-shot "doesn't tickle" at 10 feet, however it may fail to stop. Especially someone loaded up on drugs.
If you prepare for home defense, you shouldn't be preparing for anything but the....

The debate on shotgun ammo can go on for hours. I like to use a low recoil 2-3/4 inch rifled slug. Do not use a sabot in a smooth bore. Bird shot is wonderful if you live in an apartment or extremely close to a neighbor but beware of shot bouncing back. Buckshot is good if your house has a brick finish. I wouldn't advise any turkey loads or 3inch mag shells. 2-3/4 will have ballistics comparable to a 500sw or 50ae at close range. check manufacturers listed ballistics on line as well b-4 buying.

I really don't know why people make such a big deal about how it happens, I know everyone wants to die in their bed at the ripe old age of such and such but the reality is it wont happen they way any of us quite expect it.

Birdshot can get the job done, but it wouldn't be my first choice. I have first-hand experience with this. If I happen to get shot with buckshot, I'll be able to speak with a little more confidence (I would rather not.)
I think I'd go with something in between. #4 shot looks like a better option to me. The birdshot put me down, but not immediately. If I had been armed I would have still been able to return fire. Luckily for my attackers, Illinois has a policy of disarming potential victims.

its actually not a bad idea to put a little oil on the spring. when i clean my glock i put it on the points where the slide attaches to the lower reciever of the pistol, but not much because glocks only need a little. and then of course throw a little oil on the trigger mechanism inside the gun, as well as the exterior of the barrel. and then for clean i would use a hand towel. hop this helps

Depends on where you live and who else lives in your house.. if you're in the country, and have no close neighbors, and possibly need it for animal defense too, definetly 2 3/4 mag 00buck. (some guns hold more of 23/4). But for indoors, I've got a family, so I choose magnum BB shot. Good enough knock down, not too much penetration.

Hey Dem use number 9 double oo buck. and watch using the hopps on the wood i like rem oil, and i use grease for the glock. They also sell the little pads instead of using papertowl which can leave a little mess and dirty the gun. Old underwear of a teeshirt will due.

I know a guy that uses Winchester AA low recoil #8 shot for less chance of penetration. Personally, I don't worry about neighbors, don't have any. My shotgun is 5 rounds, I keep first two #6 shot buckshot, and last three shots winchester pdx1. Each pdx1 shell has three 00 buck shot and a one ounce slug. Only a few crimes have been committed with legally registered guns. If you were to ban guns all you are doing is taking weapons out of people who would legally conceal carry them. While the people who are doing the killing wouldn't be slowed down and in all likelihood would kill more people

You are not going to want to use paper towel because it ineveitably leaves particles. fot any are of which you would use s that i suggest using silicone cloth. the 12ga buck is much better, because the heavier round is much better for a "kill shot", because intruders can and will sue you for their injuries.

Oil every moving part of the gun. Also once the gun is clean, oil the inside of the barrel very lightly. Basically clean and oil every metal part because the oil will act as a protectant for the metal and wont hurt it in the least. The polymer doesn't need to be lubed really but it should be cleaned.

Hey man, in your video u kind of asked where to lubricate your Glock 17. I have one, and i ONLY use 100% Silicon spray. If something with oil in it, it can destroy the rubber and plastic parts. if you already have been using oil without 100% silicon, buy degreasing spray, it cleans your pistol for oil and grease. and when/if you have 100% silicon spray, its not bad for the pistol, just remember to lubricate every moving parts. At such close range, I would go with a slug. Mossberg is a good choice. But the Glock.... I got a Kahr CW .45 Dude, Same quality, about $200 less. I got mine for $400 new. In the shotgun, you can also take the shot out of the shell and replace it with rock salt, then seal the shell back with wax.... Won't kill, but there ass will be burning to bad to wanna mess with you any more...lol.
