I don't see the issue? Spurgeon appears to be saying if you refuse to repent of sin you distance yourself from God. All I can say is thank you for a video of sound doctrine. God Bless.
I know Spurgeon's works and I have never seen anything contrary to Biblical sound doctrine. But even if a preacher does state something that may be off, does not mean that he is a heritic, we are all learning, preachers are not free from error. Now if it were a habitual thing where the preacher was always saying things that were unbiblical I would begin to be concerned. Another person also tried to say that A.W. Pink was a false preacher because of one quote they thought was unbiblical.
It is still true that some people do misrepresent others. We have a man at the moment who claims that John Bunyan was an unbelievers, that John Calvin was an unbeliever, all the Puritans were unbelievers, and he does this by misquoting them. Spurgeon leaves a lot to be desired, and allowed himself to be compromised. I would not be all that surprised if what is quoted is correct. However, before making any firm decision I think it is best to go to the source of the material and look at it object
btw, read the whole of the passages you quoted.. don't just pick the verses which best suits to your way of thinking.. Deny your thoughts and study the Bible wholly..
when one repents, one must turn away from the sin he repents.. you cant be saved by believing yet continue on sinning.. As Jesus had said, "Not all who call me, "Lord, Lord" shall enter the kingdom of God."
Repent of your sins, Turn away from it. You've been misguided.
@smcs Turn away from sin is to make salvation of works, not of grace. When a person is saved, given supernatural repentance, the old nature to wilfully sin is dealt with, a new heart, new disposition is given. The man that commits sin is not born of God. This is clear in scripture (1.Jhn.3.6).
@RelyOnChrist777 Indeed. And who can count his sins? Who can know his sins? Mr Spurgeon take out the supernatural, making Christianity natural. It was the done thing in those days. Nothing new.
Unfortunate the people today have no idea what "believe' means. Jesus cast out a demon that believed, was he saved? Mark 1:24 Every verse cited here is about "believing," no mention of repentance which requires trusting fully in Christ, which is what believe means. So sad the state of Christianity, that repentance is looked on as a hard doctrine.
sanderson1611, you are sadly mistaken in your analysis. You have either by accident or by deceptive purpose laid out a clear misinterpretation and misunderstanding of the context in which Spurgeon was speaking, and the correct interpretation and theology behind the scriptures you've quoted here. "The Repentance Blacklist" itself is filled with this kind of idiocy, and is foundationaly broken because of it.
Spurgeon is right We MUST COME TO CHRIST JUST AS WE ARE. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY AROUND IT !! IF CHRIST IS TO BE ALL IN ALL IN OUR LIVES THERE CAN BE NO TREASURED SIN IN OUR LIVES. IF WE PRESUME THAT WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE (WHICH WE ARE) AND YET THINK IT ALL RIGHT TO CLING TO ANY CHERISHED SIN THAT KEEPS US AWAY FROM CHRIST, THAT CHEAPENS GOD'S GRACE, AND WE ARE LOST BECAUSE OUR CHERISHED SINS BECOME ANOTHER GOD. IT IS WRITTEN THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME. (EXODUS 20:3)
I don't even agree with Calvinism--but your quotes and proof-texts below in the info sections show enough of your mis-understanding of Scripture. I don't like everything Spurgeon taught and preached--but he was waaaay closer than you saunders... I really fear for your salvation.
Wow, just another idiot who leans to his own understanding instead of seeking out what Spurgeon was really saying. Sanderson1611, I can not wait til someone exposes you on youtube because you are such a hypocrite. I would go through your videos myself and pick and choose the lies and garbage you teach if it would not be such a waste of my time.
Sir.. then please explain me where I went wrong.. obviously I am a worshipper of God and I don't find anything wrong with what Spurgeon had claimed.. If it is my ignorance, then you who are wiser than me, must be able to correct.. god bless
Someone needs to turn off their Hillsong CD for a few minutes, and maybe read the quote again before making a video falsely accusing a man who's words ring true throughout scripture. Spurgeons call to full repentence is not heresy, save to those who's biblical knowledge is limited to what they learn on late night tv preacher shows. If THIS is what you consider heresy, then you would do good to expand your library beyond books by Osteen.
Be careful that u don't work for Satan. There is nothing wrong with what this man has said. Be very careful and not be so fast to call people a heretic. First learn the Bible and understand it yourself. There's too many people without the real Holy Ghost trying to speak on subjects that they really don't have any understanding of. Get saved according to Acts 2:38 first sit down and be taught the real truth first. God bless! Be very careful!
I am full of Joy as I have been obeying Christ more and more, yet at other times I slip on the very sin of mine that I KNOW HELD JESUS TO THE CROSS for me. I am trusting that Jesus will give me the desire to please Him more as I am still coming to grips with Him being my Lord.
Spurgeon wanted those around him to understand that if we keep holding on to our favorite little sin then we are not serving the Master of the universe, but rather ourselves (Matthew 6:24)
He's talking about FULL repentance from sin and more importantly from habitual sin. That can certainly put a person's salvation in peril. That's a very sound doctrine and nothing heretical about it.
Why are you so up in arms against every preacher under the sun except yourself? Are you jealous of their success or do you just love spreading dissention and stirring up trouble? The BIble warns us about people who do that...
Was this meant to be an attack against one of the most careful and prayerful servants raise up by God? If so, this video proved to be utterly futile; in fact it achieves the opposite objective of reinforcing a fundamental biblical truth of genuine repentence unto salvation.
You've embarassed yourself with this video. Clearly Spurgeon is too deep for you. Not one of your verses in any way refutes what Spurgeon was saying; in fact, they aren't even related. He's talking about full repentance from sin, not removing sin by your will. Perhaps you should've had someone smarter read it for you?
@tolar9 lol, this guy claims to "expose" mr spurgeon, but when i watched the words that this great man preached i am so glad i watched this video, what a truth mr spurgeon spoke! wow! instead of exposing c.h.s. he is helping to spread the truth about true repentance! lol, what the devil meant for evil God has made for good!
@leftpuman What Spurgeon is clearly enunciating is that salvation is of man. He removes the supernatural. Who can know his sins? Only Omnipotence knows the sin of man. How can we know? We know we sin but precisely to what extent and what sin is the sin?
@tolar9 I agree with you about this video. Some cowardly folks like to take shots at Gods men after they've gone. Similar to the claim tha KING JAMES was a sodomite. The man who started that lie only did it after Jame was dead for many years. Hogwash!
Seems to me that what Spurgeon was saying is that one cannot cling to any loved sin and expect salvation. The Bible says we have to choose Jesus above everything to be saved and that means being willing to forsake everything - even legitimate things like family - to be saved. So obviously hanging onto any sin will be an effective block.
To 'believe' in Jesus is to place all our trust for everything in Him and abandoning everything else (especially wrong things). Its not mental assent alone.
Much of this is on an ideal many choose to ignore or remain wilfully ignorant though right in the bible in your hands or on a computer is the words of life which supplants the words of death-Christ saves from sins. Here is the problem with this preacher-he wants to condemn all not like him and lofts himself up in so much pride as if he thought he took the place of God though he refuses to9 take the only biblically ordained position of a Christian-in Christ, in the cross of Christ
I didnt see anything with what Spurgeon said, he is speaking about not confessing your sins to God and not coming to repentance. If you cant confess to God your sin, how can He offer His forgiveness.
I understand and agree with surgeon.. However I am wondering if anyone can comment on David or even Solomon in regards to this? Obviously they both did their fair share to displease God, but Solomon lived a life with many concubines and turned to the other gods. It would seem that this went on for many many years. However, he was said to have 'loved the Lord', and God also gave him a spiritual wisdom, which suggests he was indeed saved. How could Solomon have held onto sin for so many years
@AKelsoY Solomon turned away from God, he worsphipped Chemosh, Molech, to whom people passed their children through the fire. He would have had to have died whilst being faithful to God, he never repented therefore whether he is saved is doubtful.
God giving a man spiritual wisdom has nothing to do with salvation, if Solomon had been wise throughout his life he would have not turned to kabbalism and witchcraft which is an abomination.
David repented & he never worshipped any other god.
Okay, I will admit there are some things that Spurgeon has said in some of his works that puzzle me a bit. THIS is NOT one of them!! This HERE was RIGHT on the money!! IF you have a LOVE of your SINS, IF you LOOK BACK TO THE PLOW, IF you DREAM OF THE "OLD" WAY, than there can be NO GRACE there. HATE that which is EVIL, LOVE that which is GOOD!!
That is what TRUE Holiness preaching is, and it's hard to see because many people who preach it are the MAINSTREAM pentacostals!!
Salvation is by grace through faith alone. You do NOT have to turn from sins (clean up your act). Jesus accepts you just the way you are, a sinner dead in your sin.
The whole turn from your sins epidemic is nothing but a co-redeemer way to salvation.
Christ did it all on the cross. If you don't believe that, you aren't going to make it. You can clean up your acts all you want but has nothing to do with your salvation.
Do you believe the record God gave of his son? (1 John 5:10-12) Eternal life is eternal, if you can lose it, its not eternal and therefore you do not believe the record God gave of his son.
This eternal life is giving to you by faith. It says it right there in the most famous scripture of all time, John 3:16. Do you believe what John 3:16 says or did Jesus leave something out?
@onlineministries Might i suggest that you read the gospels, and read 1st john, and Romans 8 as well, Yes it is grace, and faith alone unto salvation, but the saved are called to a life of repentance, to be transformed, renewed, not like the world, This idea of the carnal christian is a lie straght out of hell, and is not biblical. Repent and believe the gospel was Jesus' calling You will find no where that you can live in sin or be carnal and be saved ITS NOT THERE
Given that you say "This idea of the carnal christian is a lie straght out of hell..." I'd be interested to know how you interpret these passages.
Please don't take this as some sort of attack - its not. I just want to know how you reconcile what you say so categorically and what seems to be a direct refutation of your statement from the scripture.
@raxorules Sorry it took so long to respond, If you read the passage in its context and the entirerty of his letter you will see that paul was not saying "Oh you are carnal and thats ok" in fact he was teeling them I cannot teach you of the spiritual things that you need because you are carnal people. and as long as they held onto thier carlnality they would in no way grow in the spritual. The spiritual is not some mental assention, but rather growing in christ, and living in his steps
You originally said "This idea of the carnal christian is a lie straght out of hell, and is not biblical." so I pointed out 1 Cor: 1-4.
You now say "...paul was not saying "Oh you are carnal and thats ok" in fact he was teeling them I cannot teach you of the spiritual things that you need because you are carnal people..."
1. Please do not put words in my mouth that I did not say or even suggest. (that is out of order) - "Oh you are carnal and thats ok". Where did you get the idea that I think that?
2. I agree with what you now write although what you now say seems at odds with what you originally said + see what I wrote in my last post (immediately below yours) on this page a week before your response where I said = "Its not mental assent alone".
@raxorules Much why i dislike typing messages, I was not attempting to put words in your mouth or to imply you said or meant anything. I was simply stating my thoughts. Those are infact my words. and most evangelical thought about it.
I am not sure how you see im at odds? I said that you cannot be a carnal christian, Romans 8 james 1at john and many other passages verify this. Paul was telling his cor. church that they are carnal, and it was not a good thing.
@raxorules He also told them in a later letter as well to examine and test themselfs to see if they are of the faith.
(not saying you do this) many people take 1,2,3 verses and form an entire theology on that single thought rahter than taking the whole of the context of what is being said. Most "evangelicals" would read that and say see we can be carnal its ok its in the bible. But they stop there and never read the rest
This is one of the most sickest, perverted, twisted, attack on the believers Helmet of Salvation and Armor of GOD. Wow. Washerucess, Calvinist, TULIPS and the like never know if they are ever saved even when they may think they are one of the elected they are still not sure so they "perservere" still not knowing if they are. I have a video that exposes this religous spirit and false doctrine for what it is. All those justified by faith in believing Jesus Christ KEEP UR ARMOR ON PLEASE!
yeah, I think Spurgeon is just saying if you hold onto a certain sin (like say someone is not wanting to give up masturbating to pornography all the days of his life), then won't he be rebuked by God?
It looks like he's saying you can have sinned the biggest sin, but if you repent God will forgive - however if you are arrogant with a little bit of sin, that little bit of sin you're testifying with against yourself. I wouldn't think he meant unintentional sins, but if he did, that's nonsensical
EXPOSED ? TO WHAT? THE TRUTH? You better believe it, that's called good preaching ! This is a man of God for sure. Thank you for exposing him for who he was. WOW! Just think, now he's in heaven with Christ. I'm so going to think about not following his notes on twitter, NOT ! Sin, is a touchy thing for many people, they want to be saved but still hold on to a little something from the world. Thing is you want to feel justified in your small sins. There are no big and small, it's all sin.Repent
spurgeon is a biblical preacher.u my freind hav been taught a weak faith pretty common.keep on putting spurgeon on.i love his preaching.very biblical.
sanderson1611, you are misunderstanding this message and looking at it from a legalist perspective. The essence of this message is, that if we love any sin, no matter how small, more than we love God, then we are not truly loving God with all our heart soul mind and strength, which is the first and greatest command for all true believers. Thanks for posting.
come on. this is just like the rich young ruler who wanted to be saved. Christ told him to sell all he had for the kingdom to reveal that he loved his possessions more than Christ and this love prevented him from truly believing.
AWESOME!!! I love it when people try to expose someone only to find they have exposed the truths that are in the WORD of GOD. HOW GREAT IS THY GOD!!! Keep on exposing! Let the truth be revealed for we are in the last days. We need more people today who are willing to speak truth even if it means attacks from all directions.
I'll be praying for you Sanderson. Stop being such a heresy hunter. I hope you are witnessing to people in your daily life with gentleness and love, preaching their sin and damnation to them, by God's Spirit.
@holyjgospel7 There isn't any coming from Spurgeon, steven anderson who posted this believes that one does not need to repent of their sins to be saved.
While this is certainly a shocking message and one almost nevver preached today, surely it is biblical? Isn't he expounding Prov 28:13 "He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses AND RENOUNCES them finds mercy."? Are God's requirements any lower because Christ has come? No! We are WITHOUT EXCUSE because of the gospel!!! Do you really think that the Lord Jesus Christ will permot us to cherish our sins and yet be followers of His? Nonsense!
By your pathetic attempt to expose Bro. Spurgeon, you have only exposed your lack of Biblical knowledge. To repent means to turn from sin and to God. If one has a "little continual sin", obviously, repentance is in need. I don't agree with everything Spurgeon taught and preached but he was right on all accounts on this doctrine.
Charles H Spurgeon Exposed!!! IS THIS A JOKE ?????????
This just gives me assurance that Charles Spurgeon was strong in his Faith and knows what the Bible says about Truly Being a Christian and Born Again...
Open your hands and let Jesus take everything you got...Including your Heart, Body, Soul and Mind...Let Him live your life...that is the Grace of God, because we all deserve everlasting burning in Hell, but by the Grace of God when we give Him our earthly lives His Grace saves our souls.
@wasawasabe wow. if you had the wrong manual for your blender, wold you not want the correct blender manual, so you could carry out the function of the blender to the best of its ability?
Your assertion is deceptive and ridiculous. He simply says that repentance is all or none. You cannot repent and make a 160 degree turn and it be real repentance. Do you not have some better use of your time than tilting at windmills?
All I see is how great this man Spurgeon was and seems you have not exposed anything but seems maybe your ignorant and maybe you need to listen and not pick on words which you have not liked
Oh Stevie boy when will you learn! Are you still attacking godly men of history to promote your own narcissistic agenda? Have you ever listened to yourself preach!? You sir are a cult leader in need of repentance!!!
So and so EXPOSED, so and so EXPOSED, such and such GOING TO HELL it seems that there is no other one "truthful and just" than sanderson1611 judging everybody in his own self-righteousness. Tsk, Tsk, tsk may the Lord have mercy on your soul.
The texts you present no more defend your view than defeat that of Spurgeon.
However, in defense of Spurgeon, I present the text of Romans 8:13, "For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live," which unequivocally shows those continue to live after the flesh and harbor sin will not live. Those that mortify sin, by the SPIRIT will live (not that they don't sin at all).
Sanderson's entire "ministry" consists of two things: getting as much publicity for himself as he possibly can, and also slandering and misrepresenting genuine men of God, such as Spurgeon. Here he simply lifts a few quotes (if they are quotes) out of context (if there is a context), and utterly misrepresents Spurgeon's message. Sanderson is a liar and an egomaniac, totally consumed by envy of men who actually did something for Jesus Christ. I would not follow him out of a burning building.
God showed his love to us in that while we were STILL sinners Christ died for us. Dear friend if your struggling with a particular sin remember the way to find deliverance is through the love that Christ has for you-- he died for you while you were still a sinner no amount of fear will relieve you/ looking at the law will only condemn you more. cry out to the Lrd, wait patiently and he will lift you from the pit from the miry clay and will set your foot upon a rock. Sanctification takes time
We must make Jesus our LORD before we get saved, we must repent and believe......Spurgeon here is speaking of conscious sins, if you ask forgiveness of Jesus Christ and plan in your heart to do that sin again then your not truly sorry for it.....if this is heresy then you believe that one can be saved without the LORDSHIP of Christ, without repentance....which is a damning heresy in itself that is all over the USA
first of all...when did he say this? for all i know you made this up...show some proof that he actually said this, next, you do have to turn away from all sin but you will continue to sin that's why the Lord has to wash your feet and pay for your sins...it's when you sin wilfully that it's a problem

Not heresy at all. Unless somebody is sincere in their turning to Christ they will not be saved. Consciously hanging on to your old life when coming to God is two-faced. Saying a load of words off of a tract does not make you a Christian. Believing does, as the above referenced Acts 16.31 makes clear. Those who want to double cross God as though He is some kind of fool clearly do not believe.
This is not heresy at all, you are taking what Spurgeon said out of proper context of the sermon he was giving. He isn't saying that you must repent to be saved and that is it, not true at all. To go through this trouble of putting up a video, without proper biblical research shows that you are caught up in your own ego, perceived self righteousness.
2 Corinthians 7 1Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.
Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand.
What the poster of this video is proposing is absolutely 100% heretical and evil. God will have NO part with sin. Listen to me Church. The bride has been called to purify herself.
John 14:23-24 23 Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me."
Spurgeon is right here....for Hebrews 10:26-27 says - "If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth no sacrifice for sins remains, only a fearful expectation of judgement and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God." ~~ Jesus most assuredly gives eternal life and forgiveness of sins, but this is not an opportunity to keep on sinning, on the contrary, Jesus said - "Your sins are forgiven you, go and sin no more..."
@BelieveandtrustJesus . I'm sorry but repentance is not works salvation, it is a necessary act on our part as an act of faith toward God in Christ to forgive us our sins. If you believe repentance is salvation by works you are very deluded. All Spurgeon is saying here, and he said it in other ways, is we must hate all our sin and hold on to none of it, repent of all our sin not part. I find your opposition to this very strange
CHS believed in lordship salvation. The same kind of salvation Jesus preached, and Paul preached, and all faithful servants of Christ have preached for generations. Not sure what bible you read Mr. Anderson, but mine says to "repent, and believe the gospel" Mark 1:15. If we never repented, we were never saved. If we are not growing in repentance, it is likely we have never truly believed the gospel.
@BelieveandtrustJesus Regardless of what Spurgeon preached who are you too condemn a dead man. Peter asked Jesus once what would happen to John, Jesus responded what is that to thee, follow thou me. You shouldn't concern yourself whether Spurgeon is in heaven or hell, you need to follow Jesus and serve Him. You're wasting time arguing about this man's teaching, that is self righteous on your account. You seek to gratify your lust for "being right"...that is self-righteousness.
@BelieveandtrustJesus What is righteousness? Noah was righteous right...why, what made him righteous? He believed God and obeyed His voice. You and I must do the same. Faith can never be separated from Obedience throughout the whole Bible with every individual God deals with He requires Faith And Obedience. You can contradict people who believe that but you can't contradict the Word of God. You can read the same as me but you blind yourself by placing your belief first, then read on.
Hi, I don't think he is preaching works=salvation. How much spurgen have you read? I read a book by him "advice for seekers" it was for non christians seeking God. It was right in line with saved by faith. Although this video is an extract it clearly shows that he believed 1John 1:5-10. Perhaps you know more about him but i see no error here.
yes I agree with turtle4aires and others, I was waited to see what the "exposed" part was. His words may of been a little harsh but the point he was making I believe is very true and biblical. I do not believe he was saying you have to be "sinless" but you have to HATE all sin...you can not love any sin and love God too. The bible is clear that you must give all to God, or its nothing. God bless you all.
He was FIFTEEN (15) yrs old in April 1850 when you say this sermon was preached & only TWO weeks after he first started preaching. Give the YOUNG man a break! First off I believe the components of the sermon were Scripture based & just not sufficiently explained. Second off he preached close to FOUR THOUSAND sermons during his lifetime not including his dozens of articles & commentaries printed. If a sermon 2wks after he started preaching at 15 is the best you got to prove heresy--you fail!
This is why repentance cannot be made by depraved sinners unto accepting Christ as Lord. I cannot know my sin in the light of who God is neither can I know holiness as depraved sinner. All men come to Christ receiving the gift of repentance.
Based on vrs' quoted (in dropdown under vid, under the sound option) I think he's saying that Spurgeon was preaching works based salvation, contridicting "Sola Fide" (faith alone). Of which I do not agree-> Romans 6:16, 8:13; 1Thess 5:23
Test everything to scripture, EVEN SPURGEON Acts 17:11 1Thess 5:21
doesn't sound heretical to me. a "little" sin in our eyes is straight up sin to God. there's no "level" of sin. sin is just sin, and we need to repent from it.
Matthew 5: 21 - 26 shows us that if we still harbor a sin within us and it comes to our attention, we are to make peace, lest we ourselves receive judgment. Even our offerings (like prayer) are not to be accepted until we first reconcile ourselves.
This is the same principle that Spurgeon rightly applies to the believer and their relationship with God. There is no heresy here. It is a Biblical principle. This is just admonishing honesty before the Lord... we should not lie to the Holy Spirit.
...did in his unregenerated state. But for the truly repentant and born again, his prayer will be that the Lord would be cleansed from his secret sins and kept back from the presumptuous ones, to even be freed from their pernicious dominion over him. The Psalmist in another passage even spoke of the fact that if he regarded sin in his heart that the Lord would not hear him. Death is the enemy. Sin is the sting of pain in death. Praise God, we have victory through Jesus Christ our Lord.
There is no heresy detected in this sermon. Within the context of the whole message, not to mention the context of the whole counsel of God's word, the truth of what CHS was preaching here would be understood. For brevity one passage in Acts comes to mind regarding a husband and wife-Ananias & Sapphira-who tried to hold back something which would serve as only one case in point of the deadly folly of trying to hold onto sin. The repentant-though he will still sin-has no desire for it as he once
True salvation begets true repentance, which in turn, begets DAILY salvation (sanctification), on and on, until our ULTIMATE salvation, which is when we meet Christ in glory.
I think there is a lot of taking his words out of context going on here, I hope it has been done in ignorance, Mr sanderson!!!
I have read Spurgeon and he believed that people still sin after salvation and that a Born-again child of God is kept by the power of God and will never be lost.
Spurgeon was a blessed preacher, who God used mightily for His Glory.
How is the Lord being involved in anything especially salvation heresy? How do you explain Romans chapter 9? Can we humble ourselves and realize we had NOTHING to do with our salvation?
according to these quotes, he's clearly teaching the damnable heresy of lordship salvation.
people who defend this guy are just parroting what some celebrity theologian said at some cemetery or wrote in a book you read at the Baalamite Bookstore
Maybe he just messed up. It's not like he knows the whole bible. If you would show him this video (if you could...) he would probably say "whoops, I didn't know that."
Wow, from what I just read I hear the words of a man preaching against sin and a need for total repentance of sin for salvation. I'd say these are the words of a "preacher of righteousness". Isn't this the same as Jesus told the adulterous women...Go and Sin No More. Jesus said, "Except you all repent, you'll all PERISH" what's so hard to understand about that?
I do not know what your exposing here but in any case if what Charles Spurgeon says here is what he believes ! I stand with him 110% for he say you must turn your life over to Jesus 110% and turn from Sin. What other way should a man go with his beliefs than what Charles says ?
You're all heretics. The only people who have it right are the Pelagian Wesleyan Calvinistic Mongeristic Synergistic Predestinated Elected (by choice, of course!) Arminian Lutheran Baptist Protestant Hyper-Calvinist Universalists who believe in the Cessation of Tongues but not the other gifts. Have a nice day.
wow, your retarded. Not only did you get the story wrong, but you take it totally out of context. First, it was not Moses you idiot, it was Elisha. Secondly, according to you anyone who claims he's a preacher is above criticism? Sorry, my friend but the Bible clearly teaches we are to test the spirits whether they are of God and mark those who are not in accordance with the word. We are to expose false doctrine AND those who teach it.
Sorry you are right about Elisha. I am a new Christan. But I do know this Spurgeon was a man of God we know God changed Spurgeons heart on matters many times we do not know if he changed his heart on this subject later. but calling out a man of God like this is wrong. You are helping to destroy the great work Spurgeon did. I agree you should point out is misleadings but calling him a heretic is wrong.
The next thing I wanted to address is the hates from Christians. I am a Independent Fundamental Baptist. and if you believe in salvation by faith alone, we are fellow believers. We are on the same team. Calling me a retard was going to far as a said im a new Christan I havnt even been saved a year. but i do know after having been saved men like Charles Spurgeon have helped me grealty.
Amen, Bekajn89. I praise the Lord that you were granted blessed salvation in Jesus Christ and I also praise Him that you are fighting a good fight for the truth. Charles Spurgeon was an inspirational teacher and his theology was sound. He was a faithful man of God.
We are saved by Grace alone through faith alone, no works. But that doesn't mean we can continue in sin. When we turn in faith to God, we renounce all our old ways, we must continue to repent in order to be saved. That doesn't mean that a truly born again christian can fall away, since God will always sanctify them from sin.
There is no contradiction, you must "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure."
in acts it also says in chapter 3 verse 19 so change the way you think and act and turn to God to have your sins removed...i understand were not perfect but i think his point was this we cant expect to get into heaven when we are continuously living in sin....* we are to change the way we live to live the way Christ has called us to live
You are correct with that, but that turning away from sin has nothing to do with our salvation. That act must be after we got saved because that will be our testimony, once saved always saved, nevertheless if you are a child of God of course God will chastise you if you continue in sin until you learn your lesson. We must consider the great work of God, by Jesus alone, by faith alone and through grace alone.
God said if were lukewarm he will spew us out of his mouth...God isnt somehow more tolerant of sin he is the same God...now tell me this if i do keep living in sin against God and then just ask for forgiveness then go and continue to live in sin and forgeting about God throughout my day but then come later and ask for forgiveness and i continue to do this am i really sorry for my sins or does it become Ill ask for forgiveness so i wont go to hell.
Spew thee out of thy mouth has nothing to do with salvation let me reiterate that we should not regard sin in our lives, we are saved and nobody can ever destroy that. Rom. 8:35-39. Nevertheless we are still living in the flesh so we still commit sin, now if we are really a child of God, God will chastise us until we learned such a lesson and not to do that again, with the Holy Spirit's guide, sin can destroy fellowship with God but not the relationship. once saved forever saved.
okay so your telling me that as long as i have prayed the prayer of faith its all good im okay now i can go back to the way i used to live before i accepted Jesus and for the rest of my life live in sin and all God will do is correct me and i will still receive the kingdom God has prepared...God is a god of Justice he hasn't changed his view on sin.For the wages of sin is death... but by God's grace Jesus came so we could have a a chance to turn away from our sin and have eternal life with God.
The last part of your statement is correct, but in some point i strongly disagree. God is no way, tolerating a certain whatever that may be, now concerning the prayer of faith a big Yes! because the bible says only believe, repentance has a different issue and that's turning away, but due to the reason that we are still live in the flesh, Christ died for us, let me ask you, are you SAVED? because your reasoning is not acceptable in a Christian's perspective as if you do not sin.
Disclaimer: I do not regard sin in my life, but there are some areas in our lives that we commit sin.
1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. KJV
Yes I am saved as of November 6<2008 to be exact...now im just gonna give you scripture.."But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation IF YOU CONTINUE IN YOUR FAITH, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel."-Colossians 1:22-23..just the last one "IF WE ENDURE, we will also reign with him. IF WE DISOWN HIM HE WILL DISOWN US "-2 Timothy 2:12.
praise the Lord if you're saved, but those scriptures you'd quoted is has nothing to do with the salvation of every man, it deals with our fellowship with God and those who rejected Christ as our personal Savior. Please do not misinterpret the scriptures because the way you understand the salvation it's loosing when you sinned or sinning, look, we should live like Christ, nevertheless as human and still possess the old sinful nature we still sin. study God's word brother, you will understand.
I don't see the issue? Spurgeon appears to be saying if you refuse to repent of sin you distance yourself from God. All I can say is thank you for a video of sound doctrine. God Bless.
twentysomething89 3 days ago

However, before making any firm decision I think it is best to go to the source of the material and look at it object

when one repents, one must turn away from the sin he repents.. you cant be saved by believing yet continue on sinning.. As Jesus had said, "Not all who call me, "Lord, Lord" shall enter the kingdom of God."
Repent of your sins, Turn away from it. You've been misguided.
smcs 3 months ago
@smcs Turn away from sin is to make salvation of works, not of grace. When a person is saved, given supernatural repentance, the old nature to wilfully sin is dealt with, a new heart, new disposition is given. The man that commits sin is not born of God. This is clear in scripture (1.Jhn.3.6).

Spurgeon is dead. He does not bear the Five Wounds. He has not risen frlom the Dead as Victor over sin and death.
So, to be perfectly frank I do not care what he believed.
when I say siola scriptura I now mean it more than ever. those chasing dead preachers or even living ones, do not believe it.
The quotes as arranged are EXTREMELY legalistic. But who knows if they are taken in context?
But it does not matter as Spurgeon is not God and he is dead

Spurgeon wanted those around him to understand that if we keep holding on to our favorite little sin then we are not serving the Master of the universe, but rather ourselves (Matthew 6:24)
hikeitnow 1 year ago
He's talking about FULL repentance from sin and more importantly from habitual sin. That can certainly put a person's salvation in peril. That's a very sound doctrine and nothing heretical about it.
Why are you so up in arms against every preacher under the sun except yourself? Are you jealous of their success or do you just love spreading dissention and stirring up trouble? The BIble warns us about people who do that...

leftpuman 4 months ago
@leftpuman What Spurgeon is clearly enunciating is that salvation is of man. He removes the supernatural. Who can know his sins? Only Omnipotence knows the sin of man. How can we know? We know we sin but precisely to what extent and what sin is the sin?
Protestantissues 1 month ago
@tolar9 I agree with you about this video. Some cowardly folks like to take shots at Gods men after they've gone. Similar to the claim tha KING JAMES was a sodomite. The man who started that lie only did it after Jame was dead for many years. Hogwash!
DhuTurlough 3 months ago
Seems to me that what Spurgeon was saying is that one cannot cling to any loved sin and expect salvation. The Bible says we have to choose Jesus above everything to be saved and that means being willing to forsake everything - even legitimate things like family - to be saved. So obviously hanging onto any sin will be an effective block.
To 'believe' in Jesus is to place all our trust for everything in Him and abandoning everything else (especially wrong things). Its not mental assent alone.
raxorules 1 year ago
Much of this is on an ideal many choose to ignore or remain wilfully ignorant though right in the bible in your hands or on a computer is the words of life which supplants the words of death-Christ saves from sins. Here is the problem with this preacher-he wants to condemn all not like him and lofts himself up in so much pride as if he thought he took the place of God though he refuses to9 take the only biblically ordained position of a Christian-in Christ, in the cross of Christ
daveme7 1 year ago

How could Solomon have held onto sin for so many years
AKelsoY 1 year ago

Do you believe what John 3:16 says or did Jesus leave something out?
onlineministries 1 year ago
@onlineministries Might i suggest that you read the gospels, and read 1st john, and Romans 8 as well, Yes it is grace, and faith alone unto salvation, but the saved are called to a life of repentance, to be transformed, renewed, not like the world, This idea of the carnal christian is a lie straght out of hell, and is not biblical. Repent and believe the gospel was Jesus' calling You will find no where that you can live in sin or be carnal and be saved ITS NOT THERE

What do you make of 1 Corinthians ch3 vs 1 - 4?
Given that you say "This idea of the carnal christian is a lie straght out of hell..." I'd be interested to know how you interpret these passages.

2. I agree with what you now write although what you now say seems at odds with what you originally said + see what I wrote in my last post (immediately below yours) on this page a week before your response where I said = "Its not mental assent alone".
raxorules 1 year ago
@raxorules Much why i dislike typing messages, I was not attempting to put words in your mouth or to imply you said or meant anything. I was simply stating my thoughts. Those are infact my words. and most evangelical thought about it.
I am not sure how you see im at odds? I said that you cannot be a carnal christian, Romans 8 james 1at john and many other passages verify this. Paul was telling his cor. church that they are carnal, and it was not a good thing.
Friendoflord 1 year ago
@raxorules He also told them in a later letter as well to examine and test themselfs to see if they are of the faith.
(not saying you do this) many people take 1,2,3 verses and form an entire theology on that single thought rahter than taking the whole of the context of what is being said. Most "evangelicals" would read that and say see we can be carnal its ok its in the bible. But they stop there and never read the rest

yeah, I think Spurgeon is just saying if you hold onto a certain sin (like say someone is not wanting to give up masturbating to pornography all the days of his life), then won't he be rebuked by God?
It looks like he's saying you can have sinned the biggest sin, but if you repent God will forgive - however if you are arrogant with a little bit of sin, that little bit of sin you're testifying with against yourself. I wouldn't think he meant unintentional sins, but if he did, that's nonsensical

By your pathetic attempt to expose Bro. Spurgeon, you have only exposed your lack of Biblical knowledge. To repent means to turn from sin and to God.

Those who want to double cross God as though He is some kind of fool clearly do not believe.
jdhchelt 1 year ago
This is not heresy at all, you are taking what Spurgeon said out of proper context of the sermon he was giving. He isn't saying that you must repent to be saved and that is it, not true at all. To go through this trouble of putting up a video, without proper biblical research shows that you are caught up in your own ego, perceived self righteousness.

GaryLyons 1 year ago
@BelieveandtrustJesus . I'm sorry but repentance is not works salvation, it is a necessary act on our part as an act of faith toward God in Christ to forgive us our sins. If you believe repentance is salvation by works you are very deluded. All Spurgeon is saying here, and he said it in other ways, is we must hate all our sin and hold on to none of it, repent of all our sin not part. I find your opposition to this very strange
joeyboy1951 1 year ago
CHS believed in lordship salvation. The same kind of salvation Jesus preached, and Paul preached, and all faithful servants of Christ have preached for generations. Not sure what bible you read Mr. Anderson, but mine says to "repent, and believe the gospel" Mark 1:15. If we never repented, we were never saved. If we are not growing in repentance, it is likely we have never truly believed the gospel.
Barbaricguy 1 year ago
@BelieveandtrustJesus Regardless of what Spurgeon preached who are you too condemn a dead man. Peter asked Jesus once what would happen to John, Jesus responded what is that to thee, follow thou me. You shouldn't concern yourself whether Spurgeon is in heaven or hell, you need to follow Jesus and serve Him. You're wasting time arguing about this man's teaching, that is self righteous on your account. You seek to gratify your lust for "being right"...that is self-righteousness.
nrhouseman 1 year ago

Of which I do not agree-> Romans 6:16, 8:13; 1Thess 5:23

doesn't sound heretical to me. a "little" sin in our eyes is straight up sin to God. there's no "level" of sin. sin is just sin, and we need to repent from it.

Sorry you are right about Elisha. I am a new Christan. But I do know this Spurgeon was a man of God we know God changed Spurgeons heart on matters many times we do not know if he changed his heart on this subject later. but calling out a man of God like this is wrong.
There is no contradiction, you must "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure."

in acts it also says in chapter 3 verse 19 so change the way you think and act and turn to God to have your sins removed...i understand were not perfect but i think his point was this we cant expect to get into heaven when we are continuously living in sin....* we are to change the way we live to live the way Christ has called us to live
eliasthesportsfan 2 years ago
You are correct with that, but that turning away from sin has nothing to do with our salvation. That act must be after we got saved because that will be our testimony, once saved always saved, nevertheless if you are a child of God of course God will chastise you if you continue in sin until you learn your lesson. We must consider the great work of God, by Jesus alone, by faith alone and through grace alone.
xiaolong143 2 years ago
God said if were lukewarm he will spew us out of his mouth...God isnt somehow more tolerant of sin he is the same God...now tell me this if i do keep living in sin against God and then just ask for forgiveness then go and continue to live in sin and forgeting about God throughout my day but then come later and ask for forgiveness and i continue to do this am i really sorry for my sins or does it become Ill ask for forgiveness so i wont go to hell.
eliasthesportsfan 2 years ago
Spew thee out of thy mouth has nothing to do with salvation let me reiterate that we should not regard sin in our lives, we are saved and nobody can ever destroy that. Rom. 8:35-39. Nevertheless we are still living in the flesh so we still commit sin, now if we are really a child of God, God will chastise us until we learned such a lesson and not to do that again, with the Holy Spirit's guide, sin can destroy fellowship with God but not the relationship. once saved forever saved.
xiaolong143 2 years ago
okay so your telling me that as long as i have prayed the prayer of faith its all good im okay now i can go back to the way i used to live before i accepted Jesus and for the rest of my life live in sin and all God will do is correct me and i will still receive the kingdom God has prepared...God is a god of Justice he hasn't changed his view on sin.For the wages of sin is death... but by God's grace Jesus came so we could have a a chance to turn away from our sin and have eternal life with God.
eliasthesportsfan 2 years ago
The last part of your statement is correct, but in some point i strongly disagree. God is no way, tolerating a certain whatever that may be, now concerning the prayer of faith a big Yes! because the bible says only believe, repentance has a different issue and that's turning away, but due to the reason that we are still live in the flesh, Christ died for us, let me ask you, are you SAVED? because your reasoning is not acceptable in a Christian's perspective as if you do not sin.

1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

praise the Lord if you're saved, but those scriptures you'd quoted is has nothing to do with the salvation of every man, it deals with our fellowship with God and those who rejected Christ as our personal Savior. Please do not misinterpret the scriptures because the way you understand the salvation it's loosing when you sinned or sinning, look, we should live like Christ, nevertheless as human and still possess the old sinful nature we still sin. study God's word brother, you will understand.
