Community swimming pool closes due to lawsuit

Evelyn Graham is a politician, doing what politicians do, distorting the truth. The guys foot went through a broken drain and required multiple stitches and two weeks recovery. Evelyn Graham received a hefty salary as a city counsel member and had liability insurance that paid the injured $7,000.

Why was the pool really closed? Certainly not for a mere $7000 that was paid out of the insurance's pocket.

What Mrs. Graham doesn't tell is that she had an opportunity to sell the pool to a New Jersey businessman and told him it wasn;t financially feasible. Then toldd the newspaper she couldn't sell it and decided to back fill it.

She settled out of court? There is absolutely no reason that she should've closed the pool because of damages. The court didn't impose an injunction preventing the the pool from running. This isn't a result of lawsuit abuse, and more a result of ignorance of how the law works. She should have taken it to court.

Over here in the UK we had a cases like this. One woman suing a charity which maintains our castles and such. The charity is called The national Trust, and is helped by donations and volunteers. The woman broke into the castle when it was shut and fell into the moat. She sued and got a few thousand pounds. She is scum, and the solicitors are even bigger scum. I call this situation moral banrupcy, which is promoted by a capatalist/ materialist system based on the concept 'greed is good'.

@hdyudu It's not exactly the same thing. As it turns out the coffee they gave the woman was more than "normal hot". I think she put the coffee between her legs, it burned she jumped from surprise and then it burned her when it spilled.

This is ridiculous that this person who got hurt is suing. It is his own fault he got hurt because he refused to follow the rules and he refused to obey the lifeguard and got hurt as a result. I feel sorry for the owner of this pool and all of those who worked there. I hope she will be able to reopen the pool soon.

Bad attorneys - shouldn't have settled! The attorneys are at fault, completely and totally. I would guess she didn't have enough money to pay them so they just dropped the case into settlement mode.
