this scene is the transition from guilt and shame into total love . Two young kids, who in this moment realize, that all their promises and pledges from act 1 had no more importance. It's a magic moment of innocent truth when Fiordiligi sings " do with me whatever you want ..." surrendering to Ferrando. Bravi Gvazava e Kaufmann ! Bravo Strehler !
Their voices are amazing! Love it :) i liked the "ritardando" in the second part, i think that it turned the duet even more romantic :) thanks for posting!
Hmmm ... I actually rather like this. At first I wasn't sure their singing and acting styles were very complementary, but I liked this more as it went along. She may not have the same kind of stage presence he does, but I think it works as Fiordiligi's emotions are so very bottled up at the beginning of the duet. Their voices blend very nicely at 2:03, too.
He is an excellent Ferrando.

Do you by any chance have the final scene of the opera? I would love to see it.

A 29-year old Jonas Kaufmann, already demonstrating huge potential as a top rate tenor! The technique wasn't perfrect THEN, of course.

Would be a good performance if she didn't look so repulsed by him....

Could the slow tempo in the second part (abbraciamci, o caro bene) be caused by their lack of agility with the coloratura???

Interesting, the slow tempo in the second part (abbraciamci, o caro bene) seems to suggest more tenderness than uncontained passion.

She's emotionally underpowered, IMHO, but he's suitably passionate (without overdoing it). Thanks for posting!

Seconded on both counts (plus, it's not every day that I come across a Ferrando that doesn't irritate the hell out of me).
