  • HE MUST ADD A CLOCK APP AND REEVRSI APP ON WP7!!!

  • WP7 Except in Nebraska!!!

  • Developers!!!

  • I use to dislike MS a lot in what they were doing. However I think the way the designed Windows Phone 7 is BRILLIANT! I know many disagree and are all flocking to Android. But WP7 from what I hear is very smooth and looks different than all of the other OSes out there. So thumbs up MS!

  • @pellizon2 on the desktop side they've both copied each other, but on the mobile front, Windows Phone 7 couldn't be more unique and different to Apple iOS

  • Windows Phone is amazing. Im actually posting this comment from my Windows Phone.

  • learnt by heart speech.... haha. Not very impressive...

  • Good going MS guys, you couldn't find a decent mic? I've got my volume all the way up and can barely hear it - who edited this?

  • FLOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @supercoupe86 ahh you must've had some Apple product up in another window and meant to make this comment on that video. Don't worry, I got your back. I'll try to make you look like less of a fool.

  • @Jarhead1407 Try...

  • new Microsoft era its coming!

  • windows sucks

  • hi, i have a wm6.1 phone and have a couple of softwares-one is navigational (route 66), downloaded from 3rd party cd's. am I going to be able to do the same with wp7 or is it only a 'market place' based phone.

  • I have four words for you: I HATE YOUR COMPANY!!! YEAH!!! iPhone all the way!

  • Microsoft makes a operating system for 50 different phones and all of them suck. What does that say?

  • Translation,

Just like Apple we would love to lock down and proprieties everything thats free and sell it back to you with a fee and a smile.

  • @Danster82 Apple has contributed hundreds of projects to the Open Source community. Such as, WebKit (used by Google, Palm, RIM, ect.), Clang (used by BSD), LLVM (used by BSD), C Blocks, Grand Central Dispatch, OpenCL (adopted by Khronos), launchd (almost used by Ubuntu), OpenStep (used by GNU), and 99% of MacOS X.

  • Isn't this guy basically saying what Jobs said about iPhone and Gundotra said about Android? Bit confusing lol

  • We Need A Mobile Version Of Windows 7, Not Another Regular Mobile O.S. Simply Called Windows!!!

  • 100 dollars... 900 dollars!?!??! 1000 dollars!!!!!!! No only 99 dollars yes this magnificent operating system as low as windows 7 should cost no windows 7 should only cost 40 dollars while I scream my head off about windows 1 aaaaahhhhhh

  • The only element to ban in MS is Ballmer.

  • Windows sucks rabies infected dog balls.

Apple, Steve Jobs, keep doing your thing.

Keep making the micro brains hate.

  • Thank God for windows providing real solutions and tools that connect to everything. any company these days can barf out a phone will a billion unconnected apps Where windows offers everything from server to desktop to phone. not to mention that they offer the largest most respectable set of development tools so you can customize till you are blue in the face an no longer blue on the screen

  • @criticaljimmk so true

  • @Steve Ballmer: Get the stick out of your arse!

@Microsoft: Use Bill for PR.. for gods sake!!

@Apple: Have a laugh.. Microsoft follows you

  • gates was a way better face to microsoft, balmer is just boring.

he seems to be a business man first, not someone who gets excited about technology.

i bet the insight data of this video shows a steady curve of people switching to another video as balmer bores you to death.

if this is the best promo you have for the phone, i'm selling my shares.

  • dear steve, your a jackass

dear microsoft, more power to ya

  • Do it offer the familiarity of dealing with viruses or malware?

  • lol

  • I'm getting an iPhone (fourth-generation), when it comes out.

  • When he says "he's really excited", I don't feel he means it. He just knows he has to keep pushing the stuff out.

  • yes, yes.... microsoft DOES have better GUI in their windows phone OS.... but the problem remains same as ever, people never become too familiar to it. thats a point microsoft needs to reconsider about advertising their stuff and correct marketing techniques like Apple does.

  • This was horrible.

I'm pretty excited about the OS though.

  • Im getting a Windows Phone 7 series phone.

  • This is the worst quality audio ever. Did they record this on the phone?

  • gonna death u up from my walnut office. Your mind is freezing over, you're feeling very sleepy, we own the IP, give us your money... give us all your money... zwinkie.

  • Where is the Ctrl Alt Del button?

  • wow, he's reading his speech and why doesn't it tackle on the iPhones? thats kinda weird...... don't they talk about the call quality? they talk about the features it has and experience, with animations.... hope they can improve it with future updates :D

  • Um... hello. The call quality on the iPhone is poor as hell. Trust me I know I have used one. So do not talk about call quality when the iPhone has that same problem. I personally will get a Windows Phone.

  • Speak for yourself! I have the iphone and my call quality is awesome.

  • What do you think I was doing? Please leave Apple drone.

  • snoregasm

  • 1:00 ''for people this is great news'', so the aliens and animals don't like the Phone?

  • @WackoX1337 haha. so true

  • I CANT HEAR YOU DOUCHEBAG!

  • Just an observation (unrelated to anything important), watch what he does with his hands! They get stuck in places and he's afraid to move them.

  • Since it comes with IE and all other MS products. Will it be backward compatible with current viruses ?

  • touch diamond + 6.5

    (Y)

    :D

  • windiws phone is as sexy as Balmer himself :-) enjoy bsod in your pocket

  • AT&t sucks,

  • I seem to remember that this guy laughed at the iPhone. Now he is cloning them!

  • Not every phone with a touchscreen is copying the iphone the design is just an industry standard. You could say hp ipaq messenger phones and samsung blackjacks and jacks copy the blackberry. But the phones don't they are just using design that is standard.

  • and who was it that set the standard? What device was it that brought the touch screen widespread acceptence? BTW, Balmer poo pooed the touch screen interface on the iphone.

  • iPhone set the standard for the mobile user interface, not touchscreens.

The standard has not been set very high either. This is only the beginning of widespread smartphone acceptance. The interface is still too shallow for power-users.

That's why you tend to see more geeks with Android or Windows Mobile. There are still too many illiterates transitioning from the feature phone experience.

Also, Ballmer only poked at it not for having a keyboard... something many people still want.

  • awesome, now you can get viruses on your phone

  • Does that phone have BSOD also?

  • Haha, most likely. After all, it's still Windows.

  • "Remember to put your fingers together when I nod at you."

  • I love my Windows Mobile phone, and the Iphone sucks

  • I bought my wife a n iphone and I have a htc tytn 2 I would never buy a iphone for myself I change my rom on my tytn once a week i love my windows mobile i don't like companies that control what i buy and people who don't like open source are just sheep following a master. i want my own control of what i buy.

  • amen

  • Great product.

  • open source wins

  • It's funny how everything he mentioned, I can already do with my iPhone.

  • Windows Mobile Phones have been able to do all of this before the Iphone was even an idea. Windows Mobile isn't knew, just Microsoft's advertisements are new. Windows Mobile phones have been out for 9 years, 6 years before the Iphone was released. Also, try running more than one App at a time without Jailbreaking your Iphone ;)

  • I guess, but what most people forget is that people want simplicity and innovation. Not a device with an abnormal amount of features that can do 500 things at the same time.

Not only that, but my iPhone runs the kind of apps a windows mobile can't fathom.

Let's be honest for a second, who really does multi-tasking on their mobile device? I have over 200 apps, mine is Jailbroken, and I don't even use it...

Microsoft is making the same mistake all the other companies are making (Nokia).

  • What Apps are unfathomable that the Iphone has? Most likely, if it is anything useful, there is a Windows Mobile variant.

And you are right, simplicity is what the Iphone does well. I want a phone that can do more though. At any given time, I have 5 to 8 programs on my TP2 running at once. So yes, I do use Multitasking A LOT.

Iphone made finger freindly something everyone wants. But to claim that the Iphone does more than a Windows Mobile phone is just ignorance.

And then there is ATT >.>

  • Of course there would be a Windows Mobile Variant, alot more complex that is.

You must be joking when you say you run 5 to 8 apps at once. What might these programs be?

ATT is just a carrier that limits the United States, I live in europe so I had mms from the very beginning.

There is nothing you can name an iPhone can't do that a Windows Mobile can.

In fact I think it can do all that + simplify it.

  • But to do all that, requires the phone to be jailbroken. Which is NOT simplifying things. My part about ATT had nothing to do with MMS, but more of the price of the service and the 5gb limit on their internet.

    Programs:

    PocketTwit

    MSN Messenger

    AIM

    Kinoma

    Facebook

Those run all the time. Without closing anything, I can start Opera, Google Maps, a game, or Skyfire to view flash websites and more.

I also like having a tilting screen to watch movies and a full hardware keyboard.

  • Everything you just mentioned I can do without a jailbroken iPhone. The fact that iPhone isn't comparible to other phones based on standards that the company made for the phone is also ridiculous. Let's just look at what the iPhone can do and not what it's supposed to do accordingly to apple.

Also, Flash, Bluetooth, and a Full Hardware keyboard are what the iPhone has always been bashed on about, I have never felt the need for either of those using my iPhone it's an excellent device.

  • The reason the Iphone is now selling better than Windows Mobile devices is because Apple has spent millions on advertisement. The Iphone only recently passed WM phones on sales.

Microsoft has never advertised Windows Mobile because it never had to in the past. They are doing commercials now to get back sales from Iphone and other phones.

A lot of people say the Iphone is the best because that is what they see on TV. I am sure a lot of Iphone users have never even used any other smartphone.

  • Windows Mobile Phones get advertised as a stand alone mobile phone, it won't say "now with Windows Mobile" but it's still on there.

Apple brings their OS and Hardware exclusively and they do this with all their product. Saying it's because of advertising is simply false.

I have seen many go from WM phone to an iPhone, but never vise versa.

It's really awesome that you can turn your 50 KB/s into a wifi signal but that isn't going to serve anyone but you. Remote desktop doesn't require JB.

  • DOn't know where you are, but on Sprint's network I get a strong 2mb EVDO Rev. A connection which is plenty fast enought o streem 480p, 720p, from Hulu and HD videos from Youtube. Not to mention that I have a choice of choosing Sprint who does not limit the internet on their smartphones to only 5gb, which would be the case if I got an Iphone.

There is also a larger selection for Windows Phones. With an Iphone, you get to only one phone. With Windows you have a choice of any phone combination.

  • "Sprint who does not limit the internet on their smartphones to only 5gb which would be the case if I got an iPhone"

This is ATT, that's not a valid argument as it doesn't apply to me, what your internet speed concerns that's quite neat, but I don't feel like spending to much money on my mobile's internet connection I can make it faster but then again I don't feel the need to.

Having only 1 device is what makes Apple unique, having a variety in choice of mobiles is great but I use 1 device.

  • ATT is a HUGE driving factor behind the success of the Iphone. The Majority of Iphone sales are on ATT's North American network. While it may not apply to you, it does apply to the majority of Iphone users having to pay ATT's ridiculous service prices and deal with all of ATT's network restrictions.

Having one device isn't unique. Having multiple devices with each having different feature sets IS unique. Every Iphone is the same, but not every WM device is.

  • AT&T is the "HUGE" driving factor behind the succes of the Iphone... Actually, the exclusivity of AT&T network coming with the iPhone is what keeps some people from being it. AT&T is a driver of sales but definitely not the factor behind the iPhone's succes overal.

What are you saying? having one device that can do everything isn't unique... having multiple devices seperately is unique??? how is that even logical... I don't know about you but I don't have money growing on trees...

  • Also, what about things that I can do without any hacks, just simple CAB installs, that you are not able to do on your Iphone?

Just as a quick example, I can turn my WM phone into a WiFi router and share my internet connection. An Iphone would have to be jailbroken. ANother thing I use every single day is remote desktop. That requires an Iphone to also be jailbroken.

Also, I know for a fact you can't view flash pages on an un-jailbroken iphone. If you say you can, prove it.

  • No it can't do flash, but what do you really use flash for besides videos? If the answer is nothing, then an app gets the job done just as easily. Having flash on your mobile device is luxurious and neat, not a necessity

  • Now your just pulling at straws. Internet connectivity isn't a "necessity" for a phone either, but it is a very common feature that is extremely useful. A lot of websites use flash which makes browsing that much more enjoyable.

There are sites I visit that don't have an app to be able to access the features like Youtube does.

The Iphone does a lot, I know that, but to claim that it did it before Windows Mobile is just ignorance and Iphone fanboyism.

  • Internet connectivity, is alot more general than flash... internet has been on mobile devices long before... WM's and iPhones.

They never had flash. and webpages with Flash functionality are not meant to be driven on mobile platforms it's simple as that. It's great having it of course but it's just unnessecary and the only thing people can find to have an argument about why the iPhone is bad. I never claimed iPhone could do certain things earlier than WM's where did you read this?

  • You can try it yourself, mute the sound on your computer and as soon as his mouth starts to move say out loud "developers, developers, developers" all the way through. The message is the same..

  • Funny thing is after all of his idiotic antics absolutely no one in the IT industry can take him seriously. He should run around repeating Developers, that would be a good idea.

  • He's the CEO of Microsoft. I assure you the IT industry takes him very seriously.

  • BS, ever been in a meeting with him? He comes in larger than life but when the topic turns to security he gets up and leaves.

  • Letterbox! Booo!

  • It won't matter. Microsoft will fail miserably like they always have. Apple (as much as I hate them) will continue to dominate.

  • Congrat Mr. Ballmer, congrat Microsoft!!!

  • :D exciting !

  • He looks like a tiger with sharp eyes!

  • He looks like Uncle Fester.
