@tux56 The Irish actually ended up being overseers. The job market in the North was terrible and new immigrants couldnt find work. So a lot went down south to take jobs as slave drivers, catchers, and overseers.

Which is partly what brought about the Civil War. Beating the hell out of people and thats the only job you can find takes its toll eventually.

Basically, you are either listening to people with the same style and haven't seen other styles, or you aren't picking up the nuances within the poetry you read. A lot of the poetry here is slam poetry, I believe it's called. Here being on Def Poetry. Maybe branch out your Def poetry watching, it might change your opinion.

The Troubles didn't really have much to do with Irish V. Brit, it started as protestant V. catholic - look up "the troubles" on Wikipedia.
