2pac is hella overrated. hes good, but come on guys, ifhadnt gotten killed, he wud have gone down in history as just a "good" rapper, not "the greatest rapper EVER!!!"
i dont know whos the "greatest" but my top 5 would have to be:
eat a dick son,i got into 2pac without ne1 tellin me he was good that was in 94' the man had a unique sound and message please dont play it down.i respect ur opinion but dont hate too hard
how're u gonna tell me to eat a dick and then tell me you respect my opinion? lol
and yeah, I like 2pac a lot, but mostly the shit from his first album. that was him at his realest before he got into all that fake ass thug shit and started getting this messiah complex. i mainly liked the songs he did that were meaningful like Dear Momma and Changes and stuff like that. the shit he did on All Eyez just came off as posing to me.
im skitzo.i think hiphop ended when nelly came out,but in the same breath i love wearing band-aids under my eyes.i like staring at the world thru my rearview
much respect for Big Daddy Kane... he is one fine brother...hmm hmm hmm...I love this jam from back in my clubbing days...I love his lyrics and look at him a fine brother...Thank you for posting and for the great memories.
deffinately this was the jam..clasic :) BDK is the man.. girl u raw lol..did he perform this at latin quarters or underground ma? i think we were there :))
i miss latin quarter :))) back in da days girl..i remember we couldnt even move, large crowd..big ups to the old school and our true hip hop legends/pioneers..
kane rakim g rap nas big jay best rappers ever none better rappers that come close pharoah monch mos def black thought oh yeah dmc he dont really get credit for being dope
nah thats bullshit.. papoose is much better than anyone of these rappers. and u forgot to mention 2pac, hes definately one of the best. mos def and pharoah monch??? haha u kiddin me?
papoose is a animal but to say hes better than the legends in the game is a stretch yntil his album drops i never been a big pac fan but i see yo reasons for fuckin wit em listen to mos def closely tho bruh
In reading the comments you gotta remember this is 87 peeps! And this was the shit back then. And after listening to the bullshit out there now it's still the shit IMO.
You know kane used to do mad coke. anyways, there is no best. There is no best or greatest. Heres a list of mcs who i think are better than everyone else. Rakim, Kane, Big L, Supernatural, Redman, Nasty Nas (not the Nas now), Chino XL, Common Sense (not the Common now), GZA, Kool G Rap, J-Live, Q Tip (when he was with Tribe),
nigga u buggin. Big Pun and BIG were BEASTS on the mic. I don't know what you talkin bout. Ready to Die wasn't "jiggy" my nigga, that was a straight up master piece. Nor was any of Pun's shyt "jiggy"
Do u really want me to start clowning on ur favorites??? I can go on for dayz w/ the shyt u have(white boy), nd the LOX are dope I don't know wat the fuk u talkin bout
Lox are dope talking about money and power fuck that rap commercial bullshit. Go ahead clown on my shit i dont give a fuck but were talking about hiphop here.
Money Power and Respect=Street shyt, it might have seemed "commercial" to you cuz it was a popular track but the concept behind it is straight street shyt. If you were from it you might know what they talkin bout
I'm gonna just put this out there Pun and BIG weren't even that beast compared to Rakim...
and that money power shit is also known as gangsta rap but that shits whack now back in the day when NWA and Dr Dre rapped about that shit it was true the shit today ppl rap about is bullshit.
Yea that list is good I wont lie, I respect when you say Nas(not the Nas now) cuz Nas has been trash. But to add to that list Vintage Hove, BIG, nd Big Pun
Kane is one of the greats. His talent speaks for itself.
The minus is how he is obvious inspired by Rakim. Due to how he is inspired by Rakim, it does make him overseen.
So Kane does not reach up to the likes of Rakim, Canibus, Kool G Rap, Biggie, Big L and Ras Kass. I am talking about talent. But is right behind them, along with Monch, Nas, Guru, Common...
most underated rapper. he has made beats an insane lyrics people say rap doesnt take skill but you actualy make words ryme not just say shit it actualy takes talent shit out now gives rap a bad name gota brin back the classics
listen, BDK reigned in his day alongside Rakim, KRS, PE, ETC. Without these guys you wouldnt have hiphop. These guys laid foundations. hE'S FROM A GOLDEN ERA.
THIS is REAL rap. If you like this, check out Chubb Rock, Rob Base, Rodney O and Joe Cooley, Rhyme Syndicate, UTFO, Whodini, and last but not least, Gangstarr.
do you realize how dumb our society is, especialy that they target people in my age group (11-17) and they want you eat it.....and these teens and kids eat it up like they were starving.....im smart though those corporate labels and record companies will never decive me, i know real hip-hop when i hear it.....lupe,big l,big daddy knae, krs-one,tupac,biggie,etc
Both were mad nice. THey had 2 different styles. I think Pac was more poetic and had more heart in his rhymes, like they way he spitted em, you could tell he really meant every word. On the other hand biggie had a unique and smooth voice and flow and was a very good storyteller witha a vivid imagination. They can't be compared like in ''who's better?'', it's more like ''who's better at what ?''
i cant believe ppl still argue bout this lol, u cant really compare them, both way different styles, biggie had a nicer flow and cud spit, and 2pac rapped about real shit more of a poet
I came upon this by chance and I'm glad I did. This WAS Rap! The early days of hip-hop were the glory days, when lyrics, rhymes and smooth beats all came together and got your soul jumpin'. At the risk of sounding old, I'm convinced that todays hip-hop (and rock & roll) is just "Fischer-Price".
DAMN, this brings be back to the days when girls wore spandex biker shorts, hoop earrings and we thought they looked fly... The cats on the block rocked Nike suits, with Nike Air sneaks, three or four finger rings and thick rope chains, late 80's in NYC was da shit, the summers were BUGGED OUT!
Hell yea, I remember that shit (vaguely because I was born in '85). Don't forget about the Reebok Pumps, I remember I was rockin 'em, along with a hi-top fade with the tail in the back! I'm from the CHI and in the summertime it was live in '89!

You wanna battle on the microphone/bring your own casket and tomb stone/and iam a preach you funeral tell me who the world/could ever come wid more/i get raw......
"who in the world"..."funeral" compound syllabul sounds combine....nigga just rhymed to totally words that dont sound like they should rhyme! CLASSIC!
Its amazing I hear all the time kats saying "why thefuck is it not like this nowadays whats going on????" and with all of us thinking like this how the hell is this shmit being sold and played over the airways. it seems all you have to do is find a nursery rhyme and your a so called rapper. muck rappers bring back the MC's

putting vast aire and even rae (While dope as hell) are not top 5. I would at least put Big L over rae and GZA, and Jay over Vast any day.
injoi 3 years ago 2
redain to your comment, ur list is unvalid, seeing that big is dead after only 2 albums, GZA and Raekwon each only had one great album.
nas ofcourse does belong under the top5, thats ovious and i dunno about vast aire...
ThaRealChucky 3 years ago
raekwon, yes. GZA had one GREAT album, but the majority of his albums would still qualify as very good.
vast aire is a big new but hes hella underated cuz hes mostly underground.
bigs dead but that doesnt make him less great, he still takes a giant dump on most so called mcs out there today.

Tell me "who in the world".....
Now come on! Who would have thought of that? BDK is pure genius. He invents ways to make things rhyme. He changed the concept of lyricism for good.
