Recycling is very important for the enviroment.I hoped one day every one the planet recycles like they should. God did not create the earth so we willow in our junk. Reduce,Reuse,Recycle
Recycling may not be cost effective but it is vital to our future.
Sadly a glut on the market brings down the profits - but you have to look at the big picture.
Have you heard of the Pacific Gyre - where plastic floats for hundreds of miles.
We are polluting our planet at an alarming rate - and despite those who would try to put down recycling - the Michigan Earth Keeper Initiative says keep up the good work.
i'm definitally not for hurting the environment, but recycling barely works. it doesn't even save trees.. 90% of all the paper in the US comes from tree farms, where they have to replant trees by federal law. and the bleaching used in recycling paper actually hurts the environment.
Heaven help us as a species if the majority of the world is a lazy, uncaring and flat out wrong - as a few of the people who have posted on this site.
For those who oppose recycling, I say wallow in your beer cans .
I pray you will one day see the light and the crisis that's at your front door.
People who won't lift a finger to protect the planet won't believe there's a problem until the ice caps are a cold memory, along with NYC/other coastal cities that will sit on the ocean's floor.
recycling does not save money, we actually lose money.
recycling is bad for the environment because of all the trucks and deisel powered machinery that has to process it.
a 30 mile by 30 mile landfill could contain all of the US trash for the next 1000 years.
seriously. recycling companies are making money off of us. the only thing you should be recycling is aluminum cans because that is the ONLY thing we save money recycling. these days landfills are some of the safest places on earth.
Yeah, garbage companies aren't making money off us. We could contain all the trash in the US in your big ass, but that wouldn't be the best place for it, now would it?
It may cost more, but when you factor in the cost to process raw materials (such as glass and aluminum) it significantly reduces natural resources and cost. Not to mention, its the right thing to do for the environment.
Hi everyone. I wanna make a difference in this world and the environment and I wanna build a recycling plant. If you can, I would very much appreciate any help I could get.
I'm against all forms of slavery and that includes recycling. If it was worth doing you would pay someone to do it..

That 90 percent figure is way high - millions of acres of lumber in our forests get harvested every year in U.S.
Plus so-called "tree farms" are planted on former forestland and results in clear cutting woods that were already clear cut several times.
I could show you thousands and thousands of acres of barren land here in northern Michigan that used to be forest now so-called tree farm.
A tree farm begins as a real forest.

Bleaching is used in nearly all forms of paper - not just recycled - because Americans want white paper insted of light brown.
Your arguments are not applicable as a reason not to recycle.
I come from a long line of rugged northern Michigan loggers - and am not anti-logging - but recycling does have a positive impact.

Recycling takes a HUGE amount of energy and creates a massive amount of pollution. Duh. Melt down some cans to save the planet? No thanks.

It costs 60 dollars per ton to process garbage, it costs nearly 200 dollars per ton to process recycled goods.

Have you ever asked yourself why that is? Maybe subsidies to forestry, mining, oil, and garbage companies????
