  • where can i get these recordings? ive been trying to find them for entirely too long

  • Comment removed

  • Where did you get these songs?:)

  • That doesn't really sound that great. I think this is a bit overrated because you all like what he does now.

  • is this actually him

  • @getup2727 yeah because in an interview he said i think the songs i did when i was 13 the sucked now i know thats the exact lines but its him

  • "yea thats a sweeping metaphor"

  • Sounds like Daniel Johnston.

  • @johnmorisi8 you're right, but i get the feeling when you talk about "interviews" you mean ONE interview, that's the one at the end of an attempt to tip the scales. first, that was meant to be fun, second, that's not even conor. depression doesn't have much to do with your actual situation, everything is what you feel that it is.

  • Hi, i was wondering where you got all of these songs from? Are they on an album? i have every bright eyes album but i've never come across any of these songs- i'd really appreciate any info :)

  • how the hell does he strum so fast!?

When I try doing this I drop my pic loll

  • Wtf did his parents do to him

  • Comment removed

  • this is so cuteeee<33333

  • what i like about conor's writing is that it's completely natural. nowadays artists wouldn't say "i feel like a present or a worn-in leather shoe," they would say something like "i feel warm." such simple, real feelings and ideas like that are one of the things that set him apart from other writers

  • All bright eyes is amazing but I think conor truly is the best poet alive.

  • Where in the world did you get this amazing song? :)

  • This is so amazing. The lyrics and instrumentals are so much better than all the crap 5-year-old love songs that are out nowadays. It's so good, and I just keep imagining him looking so cute while singing this. C:

  • omg crying it's so beautiful

  • I'm not much of an Oberst fan, but I gotta say, when I was 13 I was singing songs about my farts and playing with Star Wars figures.. so this is pretty damn good.

  • amazing, recorded when he was 13, crappy quality, yet this is the only album on the whole of the itunes store i would actually pay money for..

  • Conor Oberst at 13>Justin Beiber at 16

  • @rileymccoy A retarded goat>Justin Beiber at 16

  • After listening to this, I instantly started writing & recording songs.

    Talk about inspirational.

  • Holy shit.

How could someone be so brilliant.

  • amazing.. made me smile so big :D

  • his little pubecent voice, awww :3333

  • i love his voice here. its more real and his emotion is clear.

  • Ohmyfuckinggod.. I LOVE CONOR MULLEN OBERST.. He's just soo great. He's clearly been passionate about singing and music all through out his life and i just wish i were as great as him. He's sooo talented and sometimes his songs really do relate to my life and it makes me break down in tears. I just adore him.

  • He just makes me smile <3

  • how the fuck does a 13 y/o come up with this...its amazing.

  • I love him so much. I honestly don't know what i'd be without conor's music.

  • It's so insane that he was just as talented at songwriting back then as he is now.

  • Wowdome ur the shit! Thanx 4 the vid=)

  • brilliance

  • Conor is amaizing, and his songs as a kid are way better than what other artist are siging now...his voice is soo adorable and i cant stop smiling..

  • how fucking adorable, what A talent.

  • the chords are G D C, GD Am

  • I seriously cannot get over how fucking cute his voice was.

  • he should sing this song again now, this song has inspired my son alot.. we both love it

  • he could write a song back then 10 times better than i can now, f***

  • so creative at so young.

  • I think the chords for this song (in the Key of C) are C, G, F throughout most of the song, but im not sure. Anyone else have any idea?

  • This makes my face happy. What a talented guy.

  • His thirteen-year-old voice sounds so innocent...

  • @TheRunningamuck wow obviously he's not innocent listen to the song. thats not innocent.

  • @manifestdestiny17 yeah, that's not quite the right word. More likely so completely and utterly sincere in a way that only a child could be.

  • @manifestdestiny17 although I didn't say that he himself was innocent. Just his voice.

  • oh and why is conor sooo freakin' adorable!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... i promised my self that i would never be a fan girl cuz the screamin and stuff is pathetic but mr.oberst makes that soooooooooo difficult. ugh hahaha

  • Its funny how he sings and writes music the same way he did at 13...

  • Wow.

This is fucking amazing lyrically for a 13 year old.

Genius, it can't be argued. Seriously intelligent kid.

  • @barstuard this song is fucking amazing lyrically for ANYONE!

  • @JonDelzell17

damn right it is! i worded that badly, didn't mean to undermine him.

just revisited it and really - fuck me. it's great.

  • Wow..real talented disturbed kid...haha conor oberst is the best. This song makes me happy and sad at the same time

  • hey! that's almost exactly what i commented on this video

  • i doubt that, katy perry is legit

  • hahaha Katy Perry didn't write "hot n' cold"

most artists on corporate radio don't write their own shit, they're just a pretty face and a trained voice

  • barely a traine voice... You know, now there's auto-tuner...

  • sounds like katy perry heard this song and then wrote "hot n' cold"

  • it took me a while to get the coffee joke.

  • Anyone know chords for this? Chord or tab for this would be much appreciated.

  • i love conor, but everyone acts as if conor had such a terrible childhood... he even said it himself in interviews, he had a great childhood, he just made a lot of stuff up for good songs. i mean somethings are true of course, but a lot is just good lyricism.

  • yeah true

  • @johnmorisi8 that interview is fake

  • @cdob8866

what interview are you talking about? i'm not talking about the one at the end of attempt to tip the scales, i know that one is faked.

  • @johnmorisi8 He never made anything up, yes, he didn't have a terrible childhood but he wrote about what he felt, it's not all so physical, but his songs are biographical, just because things aren't awful on the outside doesn't mean you're not messed up, it doesn't mean your life doesn't feel upside down.

  • @MrJakeSteak he didn't.. actually look up his life instead of making assumptions. In interviews he says he had a great childhood.

  • @MrJakeSteak

there you go!!! the only comment tht made sence. wish I could put it into words, but I'm not smart...I am the drunken monkey.

  • Damn... for a thirteen year old that's way deep. I was playing simple chords and skateboarding all day at thirteen.

  • age doesn't matter on how deep you are.

  • but age matters on how good you can write...

  • @fetmabebis no thats not true

  • @manifestdestiny17 yeah, it does. You go to school to train your writing. Do you think that he could've written this when he was 2?

  • @fetmabebis huhh what kind of question is that? obviously he couldn't at 2 because he probably couldn't even write a sentence

  • @manifestdestiny17 Cmon -.- You get my point. Alright say 7 then....

  • lol conor didnt have a messed life he just got into drugs and alcohol at early age, he's said it before he had a good childhood

  • poo

  • This a great song actually. He is only 13 -amazing.

  • lyrical genius

  • such great emotion. truly amazing.

  • I love this.

It's really no good. But just imagine being this in-touch with your emotions at age 13.

Conor Oberst, you are my hero.

  • Lmfao oh my gosh. <3

  • where did you get this? i really need this album.

is it of Water? the first cassette he released?

  • god dammit.

he inspires me, and kills my dreams at the same times.

he writes better songs at 13 then most other artists

  • @stupdkid54

it's like you know exactly what i'm feeling xD

  • @stupdkid54 I feel the exact same way lol

  • that is the cutest thing i have ever heard! hahah

  • I love that he was 13 =]

  • This is so Daniel Johnson.

Now I cansee why the great man remade Dievil Town :)

  • ugh <3

    love this.

  • haha it sounds like hes eight but he was still talented back then listin to that guitar

  • The guitar especially, but the lyrics, the structure, and general idea! For a 13 yrear old? Yep.. Connor Oberst is definately in the right profession!

  • i was thinking the exact same thing man.

  • I wonder if he's embarrassed of this now lmao.

But no, I love Conor. ;D

  • I think Connor Oberst was made to make music...

  • He's talented, but honestly I had to laugh.

    It's so damn intense.

I love how it proves that he can write sober though.

  • Was there ever any doubt? He's the best lyricist ever.

  • haha he sounds little!!

  • 1:11 LOLL

  • His psyche is so deep and beautiful.

  • dude this is good i like it man i would shake the hand of any 13 year old with these skills

  • Dude, he strums that guitar... sooo.... fast...

  • Bro, think about how many guitar strings he broke. Like one every song? haha

  • Lmao

  • "And I guess you are like a clown fish in a sea of animals. Yeah that's a sweeping metaphor" i hope that sarcasm, cuz if that is meant to be some sort of deep metaphor for real, i'm not catching on to it :D

  • maybe he thought the clown fish was an exotic animal so the girl sticks out because she's so beautiful compared to the other animals

  • I think he says "clown fish in a sea anemone". Sea anemones tentacles sting and keep away most fish, but clown fish are immune to the stingers and therefore are able to live inside the sea anemones for protection.

  • its "clown fish in a sea anemone" which is actually kind of a good metaohor but im pretty sure it was meant to be ironic anyway.... but yeah its anemone i think.

  • Its a simile, not a metaphor. Even Conor makes mistakes.

  • how the fuck does he strum that fast

it's cute, it's like 13 yr old singing the craziest deepest shit an adult would write about.. i just love it when he screams, it makes you feel very very good? no?

  • ahahahaa this makes me happy because it sucks just as much as most other 13- year old songwriters......there must be hope for them

dont get me wrong, i love bright eyes but this sounds like the stuff i wrote at that age...

  • The best part of this song is that it was written by somebody who would become great. This song isn't great. In fact, it sucks. If anybody other than Conor wrote it, I wouldn't give it 6 seconds and I think even Conor would agree! Even Piccaso wouldn't pull out finger paints he did when he was 6, because it's embarassing. haha

  • I love Conor.

  • wow i feel like such an under achiever.

its crazy how this actually sounds like bright eyes

  • this is the most incredible song ive ever heard.

  • damyymm!!!!!!!!!!

How could he beh 13 && write this?!?!?!

I'm sure his English teacher loved him :]

  • This is freaking adorable.

  • Omg! I know!!

  • How does he do it? These are such deep lyrics! I love Conor!

  • shit im never going be as good as conor oberst when he was 13 thats depressing i feel like i have to listen to bright eyes just to feed my sadness

  • I like all of the young conor oberst songs and is Hard to believe he was 13 when he wrote them cuz it is a very deep lyric, neways is there any way I could get the young conor oberst collection in good audio format?

    Thank you

  • Actually I don't mind a single picture of Conor if it's a good picture but I just clicked on the video because I wanted to listen to the song. ^_____^ Thank you.

  • Jesus. How could he be 13 when he wrote this? Seriously.

  • he listened to a lot of simon joyner.

  • no it wasnt. what are you saying?

  • how would it've been recorded last year ?conor didnt go from 13 to about like late twenties-early thirties in one day

  • then are there two conors or something?

  • wow, your taking me a bit seriously. of course this was recorded like15 years ago. i've seen him at shows and talked to the man a few times, real cool guy.

  • oh hahaha i obviously fall for things very easily

  • i don't understand how i have been trying to write lyrics as soon as i could write which is about 15 years now and he writes a song 10 times better than anything i could come up with when he's 13.... damnit!

  • any one know what chords these are?

  • i believe the verses are just G-D-C-C and the chorus is Em-C-D-D

  • this video is the funniest shit!

    i love young conor :)

  • hahaha so true

  • lol yeh! whyy does the origonal comment get 4 thumbs down and the one saying so true gets 2 up.. ehh, all this thumbs up/down shit has way too much emphasis on the comment.. lol

  • ha

i love the picture at 2:16

    so randommm

  • hahaha it sounds exactly the same as him now just sped up so he sounds like a chipmunk.

  • what great work during his adolesence

  • thanks so much for putting this up. where can i download it? =/

  • His lyrics are friggin deep

  • can i marry u

  • Born to be a poet/artist

  • It's off his solo released album back when he was 13, called, Here's to Special treatment. sold only on cassette. he wrote 2 albums at this age, The other was called Water. both released 1994

  • conor if ur out there u NEED to play this and lava monster now a days. its just as good as ur recent songs. and it would mean SOOO much to ur real fans

  • here here my brother!

  • "Even a druken monkey could do it" lol

Aside from that awesome song and indeed where the hell did you found this?!!

  • I totally saw a face in that leather shoe! btw this is some really great stuff. where in the world did you find it??

  • Such a cute little voice.

  • How do I get this song?!?! Its AMAZING lol

  • i think i would prefer a single image of his face.

  • hahahahahahaha

  • bahahahahahaha

  • he was way cooler and more interesting than I was when I was 13

    I love this

  • I wish if he sang it now ,and his older voice would come in the middle of the song, and maybe he'd sing different lyrics about his life now. I think that would be cool.

  • How the hell can a 13 year old boy write a song like this?! This is AWESOME!

  • where can i find this on myspace?

  • how did you get these songs?

  • man. this makes me soooo happy.

i love how great he already was even singing about space invaders.

  • wow

    Conor is so amazing

his little voice is so cute :]

  • Hey man I appreciate you making this... you honestly don't know what it means to me. I can relate to invaders closing in on my space and I never had anyone to save me until I met my girl... This is hers and my song. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

  • Wow, he was amazing even then.

  • thanks, haha, i think this is the highest i've ever heard his voice go, and yes, a bunch of strange pictures is better than just one pic of his face... :)
