If you want to say that there is a scale that measures singers from all countries of all genre of music equally, I'd like to see it, then I'd like to see your qualifications for making that scale. :)

I guess people just listen by the ear. They can distinguish East from West. For me, I enjoy both for their respective distinction, that is, pure English pops, RnB, rocks, or Chinese folk music. But I just find parodies jarring to the ear. That's it. XD.

It's simply silly to use the standards of classical music to measure pop. Do you truly believe if Pavarotti sang Teresa Tang's songs he could present the same feelings and sentiments??? I seriously doubt about it.

The soul of HK pop music has never been about showing off high notes. It's about emotions. Jacky Cheung, Leslie, Eason etc are essentially bass singers who are known to "touch" audience's emotional side.

Singers are just another type of product salesman, they sell their voice, and they can always improve it, through experiencing how others do it.
