No question that is a tough exercise, but it's not Jin Choy. The battle punches, or chain punching is a series of rapid center line punches with both hands (usually while shuffling forward).
excellent video. good dedicated training.i am new to w.c. so i am very glad u posted this video as it gives me a good descrip of what i need to be doing
how well does the weight vest help compared to taking it off? I am thinking of wearing a weight vest and then grinding myself into the dirt doing agilities until i get faster than I was without the vest. Then I will up the weight and repeat. Sound good? I mean faster in the sense of punch speed and body speed (reflexes, reaction time) stuff like that. I hear tel of a guy who lives with 150 extra pounds strapped to him all day every day. He must be sick fast when he takes them off.
Back in the days we did similar things in our Hung gar practice. This is a killer workout. Gives you strenght, endurance an tons of other important attributes.
That looked like it was burning some quads, that guy was doing his horse at a good low level and moving with weight. I'm gonna try it to see how it feels, well done.
two white boys arguing about kung fu is so funny. you guys have no clue" my line is straight from yip man"!!!!!!!!!!The old Yipster called me from heaven on his Fu Fone and told me to tell you guys that white people dont have the mental awareness to know kung fu and by the meaningless conversations you have about vings hun tun chun prove it and you retards know it.
and also hearing two whiteboys argue about kung fu is like hearing two black people arguing about whos a better skinhead. you guys are retarded and you know it.
This is wing chun, battle punches are a lost art for many in wing chun. I read about them a few years ago. I would love to see the applications. I suspect they originate or are affiliated with the pole form.
@streetkunedo the correct term is actually arrow punch. in Cantonese "battle" and "arrow" sound the same. and no, its not lost, the yiu choi lineage still practices it. the 6.5 pole form is not affiliated with this kind of punch as the principles are different. arrow punch teaches stepping in and hip torsion. you are supposed to use back horse stance punch then step in with a normal horse stance punch. in this video, theres no change in horse stance. probably due 2 d heavy weight of d body bag
Hello, actually it is Ving Tsun because Yip Man, whose kung fu we learn, preferred that spelling. Hence, his Ving Tsun Athletic Association.
Also, my suggestion to you sir, is to research a particular subject before you make a fool out of your self without having the ability to delete your comment.
Hint, look for the progression of the Luk Dim Poon Kwan (ving tsun pole form) or the Jin Choi (battle punches), which dates to the Red Boat days. This is very much a Ving Tsun exercise.
Dude, can you tell me if those weight vests are any good for jogging. I'm planning on buying one, or maybe more. My main concern is, are they comfortable while running?? Do they bounce up and down a lot??
You still believe that legend and you don't think that athleticism has anything to with improving kung fu training? At least you are on the internet to enlighten us.
I agree with vyvial, being a martial artist instead about following traditions, its about improving and improving upon what people of the past made, in this case, that means upgrading the conditioning program
I would not pay too much attention to any one particular opinion. Training is all about equilibrium. Regarding the legend and the woman, I associate WCK more with the viciousness of female fighting than the generally perceived subtle side. There is nothing subtle about Wing Chun when you drive through the target - it is like being hit with a sledge hammer, at least where I come from : |
Where did you get your vest? Most of the sporting goods stores I see only have the 40 lbs vest. Your videos are great keep up the good work cuz you are really keeping the rest of us motivated!!!! Best wishes for you and your school.
hi im looking for a decent weight vest but dont want to pay a arm and a leg for one ... do you know any that ar of a decent price??
scarleteverywhere 5 months ago
@scarleteverywhere I really don't know, I only have used two kinds and they are both a bit pricey.

Whats the point of punching when your arms are not weighted?
Willettes1 8 months ago
@Willettes1 weightged arms pull your force downward, not effective in training the right muscles required for proper abduction and aduction anyway

Yes, they bounce a bit but the Xvest is the BEST weight vest I have seen for running, lifting and swimming. I highly recommend it.
vyvial 3 years ago
You should check out the latest weight vest - the hyper vest does not bounce or shift at all and it let's you breathe too.

how come you lock your arm out? is that what the battle punch is :| think that will break your elbow/do serious damage.
