Stainless steel actually has the potential to be as sharp as carbon steel, but that's the problem. You get great SHARPNESS from weapons made of HARDER material. Servant's Soul's are made from less hard materials, because hard materials would shatter on impact with anything solid. It's a trade-off; greater hardness, less toughness (ability to flex and return to original shape without permanent damage). Balance is where the quality comes in.

It's not about appearance. You pay for resilience and hardness of material, balance, edge factor. You can buy a stainless steel show blade that you never have to care for for twenty dollars. If you ever used it though, you'd wear it, because it would shatter. True pride is in ferrous quality, mild carbon, TRACE chromium, mixtures beyond that are for preference; manganese, nickel, etc. Material, heat treat (uniform hardness), thicknesses... A true Servant's Soul is custom, and would not be cheap.

@Fynril There are still some very nice blades out there that can take the same abuse. "Real" katanas are only made as works of art today, since genuine tamahagane, or Japanese "jewel steel" is probably the most expensive metal in the world, not to mention illegal to export. But if you've ever seen a handmade, differentially hardened blade made of Swedish powdered steel, it performs like a real one, and it's stunning to look at. Blades made of T-10 tool steel are very nice, too.

Looks like a musashi with a fake acid etched hamon. You should join the group UBC (united backyard cutters) on youtube, you will learn a lot about katanas as well as where to buy some quality katanas. Check out paul chen and dynasty forge.
