I remember on the Hammer Throw, I'd take a piece of a brown paper bag, fold it, put it over the directional pad and be able to throw sooo much farther!! :)
I'm still recovering from the carpel tunnel nerve damage in my right arm from trying to break records in the hurdle event... I wish my parents got me that turbo gaming pad with joystick. Turbo would have saved my right arm.
put your thumb inside your T-shirt and slide back and forth on A and B with the side of your thumb. Don't use your T-shrirt and get blisters for free!!
@Hittman305 I used the GOOD OLD FINGER TECHNIQUE. I would put the controller close to my body and press the buttons REALLY, REALLY FAST. Come to find out THAT CERTAIN TECHNIQUE WOULD BE REALLY HANDY WITH THE LADIES LATER IN LIFE ^_^
I remember playing this game every day back then. I had that turbo controller that had the little red d-pad button that spun around in a circle. A killer for doing the Hammer throw.
Some events were a mission impossible without a turbo controller. I had this technique where i put the controller on the table and started bashing with my indexfinger.
@figliodellastanza My brother and later myself beat this game without turbo. It costed one our NES controllers though. Horizontal bar was the hardest event to me.
I used to have this game myself, and I am proud of your skill at the dive and all that stuff. I couldn't blame you with turbo either way, as well... I used it too when I was a kid.

I think they rigged this game to make kids say the following: MOOOM I need a turbo controller, wah wah wah! Worked for me!

Turbo is were it pushes the button eal fast by itself and all you have to do is hold the button down. They make them for consoles now days, too.

At the triple jump, 42°/38°/45° at the three jmps will give you an awesome length.

I triple jumped in high school. The animation looks more or less correct (for the NES) but I don't think it is possible to get that kind of distance.

LOLZ at 5:32...that animation is awesome.
