Have non of these people heard about wintertyres??? Roadsalt is NOT what is needed, that only destroys the roads, the cars and everything living. What is needed is to exept that there is something called WINTER, use proper wintertyres, and use sand on the ice! This is typical when trying to use summertyres as "all season" tyres. In those conditions, there is no such thing as "all seson" tyres! And when real wintertyres with spikes is not enough, snow chains is a very cheap way to drive safe.

Well.. outside my window right now there is 4 feet of snow and the roads are white.. covered in pure packed snow.. commonly known as ice.

Still.. people drive around and cars work fine. Dont they have proper winter tires in Minesota and Canada ?

I watched the video again, it looks like most of these people are driving too fast for the conditions, and I agree good tires are important and of course we have good winter tires in Minnesota and Canada but when you see busses and trucks sliding sideways down the street you know that it's more than poor tires or a little frozen packed snow, it has to be frozen rain.

Yep, that is the de-icing truck...

That is something you REALLY don't want to see losing control - that is when you know the roads are really fucked.

wolfestei1n - actually, that would make the roads even worse, as the plow would just push it all right off the road. The best place for dispensing would be to have two smaller sprayers on each side of the truck that sprayed at an angle under the truck, between the front and rear wheels - giving the rear wheels of the truck traction while allowing the plow to still move the snow.
